  • Honda Rancher moving heavy wet snow. Honda heated grips make cold weather much more enjoyable. KFI Flat plow winch strap currently installed and did not get tangled. Milk crate tied onto the rear rack has 60 pounds of weights ratchet strapped down to balance weight from plow and covered with a tarp to keep the snow out.

That is a good amount of heavy snow you got. Your Honda is doing a good job removing it all.

I feel exactly the same way! And the heated grips are hand-savers!

Do you feel like the first gear on a rancher is low enough long term for snow plowing or a foreman would be better? And do you find the lever for backing up annoying over time?

I think the first gear is fine, the lever is a little weird at first, but I went with the geared Honda vs the belt drive options for the utility aspect.
I'm not sure if the weight difference of the foreman would be much of an advantage, I haven't tried it.
I did initially look at a foreman and the owner thought the rancher would fit my needs better, overall I'm pretty happy despite not being quite as smooth as some atvs to ride, it pulls logs very well, I'll have to do some videos on that sometime. Hope this helps!

@@Jamie_Outdoor Thanks for the info, I hear people say foot shift is more reliable but im not sure id'like it with big boots and some snow always going in the footwells, im torn between a honda footshift or es or a kodiak 450.

@bakarikonte I was wearing size 12 muck boots for reference. It does take a few minutes to warm up and let the oil move or its tough to shift when cold though, the first time experiencing that I thought something was wrong. I didn't get much snow in floorboard/ foot area, the fenders extend past the wheels a bit so it keeps the rider pretty clean, although I don't use the rancher for mudding so you'd have to check out those other videos. Also the plow strap for winter use definitely was helpful vs having a messy birds nest cable from plowing. Good luck!
