I read the book a while back and I enjoyed it but didn't think is was as good as her others. However, watching the show has totally changed my perspective. I think creating that visual format of this book has added so much depth to it. Love the scenery, the music, and the acting.

the film is set in the 80s, let's say that the helmet is annoying to wear.

Wow! Fantastic! I read a couple of chapters of this book just before it came out - I think in the New Yorker - and was enchanted, as I have been with everything written by Elena Ferrante, as well as the films and series made based on her incredible books. Now this. EXCITING! I hope I can binge slowly, lol. I just wish they would also make series out of the books by Karl Ove Knausgaard. When is that going to happen? These are the two great literary legends of our current time.

The Lying Life of Adults, a new novel by the pseudonymous Italian author Elena Ferrante, is slinky and scowling as a Neapolitan cat. As promised, its subject is the part of life that adults lie about - sex, yes, but more precisely the chaos, infidelity and fear that hang on sex, freighting it with meaning and danger.

I read the book but it did not capture my attention as much as MBF. However, I will watch this to see how Naples is represented in the 90s

There is ambiguity around her looks in the book. It’s a story about becoming an adult and about feeling ugly and that ugliness being defined by what we do and by what and whom we come from.
