Somehow your vlog turned up on my feed. The seeping invisibility you described certainly touches a nerve. We are fortunate to be here, and now, but breathing is not a life. We are many, but just need to tap into that. Think the lockdown impacted in ways we are only just beginning to evaluate. Beautiful part of the country, and an area full of creatives. Perhaps each vlog could include a focus on an art gallery or boutique hotel or local artisan. It would also get you "out there" and find similar souls waiting to be met. As someone else suggested, filming in landscape will be a game changer and improve the quality of the vlogs. Use hashtags to increase your visibility and provide an email contact for the vlog (nor your own) as this creates opportunities for others to reach out who may wish to work with you in some way. Your home looks lovely. Sure all us nosey nesters would be interested in a mooch around. Subscribed, and look forward to the next vlog. You did great. You got this.
Thank you so much for all your suggestions - this is so helpful. I definitely plan to get out there and focus on individual creatives and destinations because there's so much here. Thank you for your encouragement too x
DO NOT CHANGE A THING! This was wonderful! Perfect, actually. I do not watch many UA-camrs, but, for some reason, I went on, and your video popped up on my feed. I just had to watch, as, I am a fifty something woman and I was curious as to what you had to say. I smiled throughout the entire video. You were not staged, scripted, or fake, and it was a relief to see a real person. You say what you want, when you want and it was fantastic. I will definitely be watching more. Keep creating, as, the older women of the world want to know what you have to say. Well done!
In my humble opinion, as you get older, you feel your world does seem to be shrinking but it's just that you have got rid of all the junk that people want to share and concentrate on your own interests and ideas. Great vlog. Thankyou for sharing where you live. so different from where I'm from in tropical Queensland Australia
The world definitely does get smaller as you get older. Well done on starting your channel. Have thoroughly enjoyed your first video. Love from brutally cold Canada (-26 🥶). Your walk to work was beautiful !
My kind of vlog, I don’t want to watch ‘slick’ I love the real feel of vlogs like yours. Please carry on. I would watch for your dog alone! Your house looks very interesting x
Because you're so authentic you touch people. I hope you never get too slick. One minute I was laughing over your mother comment in the car and next I had tears in my eyes along with you. Love Quince too. What a star the little man is. You look beautiful and I predict your channel will grow like Jack's beanstalk. And the Petronella HBD is hardcore but it was the only thing that ever worked for me. I lost 2 stone on it which I would have once thought impossible and I'd tried everything else. Can relate to the ageing shrinking you sentiment(in my case literally)! and how important it is to step out of our comfort zones. Cheers from Oz.
I’m from France and will be 50 this year and adore the Uk. Your video popped on and I couldn’t be happier. You are wonderful so please continue!!! Merci beaucoup.🙏🏻😘✨💐💐💐
Thank you so much Carolina. I adore France, I'm learning French right now actually, just on Duolingo, it's such a beautiful language. Thank you for your words of encouragement x
What you said about your mom was so relatable. My mom died 27 years ago and I think with love of her every day. Loving your vlogs and anxious for more.
I'm so sorry that you lost your mom such a long time ago too. I like that you think about her with love every day - it's a beautiful way to remember someone and thank you for sharing x
What an amazing video. Loved this. Did you realise how your voice totally changes when your confidence kicks in. I wish you all the very best for your channel x
Debra, you're so perceptive. I hadn't realised, but it's interesting isn't it - I think confidence is so important. Having said that, I'm unbelievably nervous again in the next video I'm about to post this weekend - it's after my channel got so many views and i realised I had an audience and it wasn't just me chatting to myself. Anyway, I did my best to pull myself together and I hope you enjoy it x
Great first vlog. I wish you all the best moving forward. I'd possibly consider using your camera on landscape, rather than portrait; we will see so much more when you maximise the screen. ❤
You're so right! The next video is still portrait but after that it'll all be landscape which I hope will be so much better. Thank you for messaging me x
New subscriber. 50 something, divorced, also mother of 6 children (two still at home). I relate to so much of what you've shared. You are an authentic soul and the world needs more of that. ✨️ I am happy to have found a kindred spirit in your channel. Blessings from Lexington, Virginia, USA. 🇬🇧 ❤ 🇺🇸
I'm so sorry I was sure I had replied to your lovely message. I'm so pleased to be in this space and connecting with women like you - thank you, fellow mother of six x
Hello from the Midlands, loving the arty side of your vlog! Your video appeared on my feed, I'm an artist and also interested in literature! Im 58 and you're like a beacon of light in the dark. X
You made laugh about the dog and the postman...i remember our boxer getting out and barking at our postman..my dad went out and said """its ok he will not bite ,,,,the postman replyed """i know that ,,,you know that ,,,,BuT DOSE HE (pointing to the growling boxer )KNOW THAT """.......all these years later,,,, dad and dog long gone😢 ,,,it was a memory we laughed about a lot ..👍✨thanks ive just subscribed 🐶
You are gorgeous and wonderful and I’m really excited to see more of your videos. I am 62 and my mum died 30 years ago and I still can’t talk about her without crying either. I understand. 😔❤
I saw your message first thing this morning but I couldn't respond straight away as I've been at work, but it really touched me. Thank you for your kindness and generous praise, and for telling me about your mum. I bet she was really lovely x
Oh my goodness we'll done!! This is So me! I've been wanting to start a channel, I'm 58 and feel I may burst if I don't do it this year. COURAGE! and you have it. Thank you thank you. But most of all thank you for being so authentic what a breathe of fresh air 😊 keep going
I'm planning to speak more about starting this channel, not so much why, but to describe my mindset as I went into it. I think it can be a wonderful thing and it has honestly breathed life into me. I would say go for it x
I lived in Bruton for some time in the 90s. Great to see more relatable content here for my age group! I’ve been dabbling with starting something too! Thank you, and don’t worry that it’s a bit patchy, that makes it more likeable 😊
I bet it would be very different now if you visited again - I think it's changed so much. I'm honestly so happy to be doing something for our age group - we need it! Definitely have a go, and let me know if you do x
Authentic is how I would describe you and your vlog, not at all contrived and that is so very relatable and refreshing and so missing in our world today. Loved it! Excited for more and could not be happier that you popped into my home stream.
This is a great first video, you are so interesting and are a natural with the camera. Don’t worry about producing a glossy, sleek video - I hope you never will because this is so much more relatable. You are like a blonde version of Nigella Lawson darling so you can’t fail but to be a hit with your channel
Oh my cup is now full - I am the biggest fan of Nigella( particularly when she was going through that Charles Saatchi litigation/tabloid feeding frenzy ) I loved her even more. What a compliment. You have made my decade - thank you so much x
Hi I enjoyed watching your vlog, i'm in my 50's aswell, it's been the most difficult age , i have anxiety, panic attacks, always emotional, loss of interest in the world, but you seem a lovely lady and i will look forward to more of your vlogs 💕
It's definitely a challenging time in our lives Marianne - you're very kind to message me, particularly when you're feeling low, and I very much appreciate it. x
You have just popped up on my You Tube feed .. you are so very interesting .. wishing you all the success and encouragement .. in this new venture.. I love the County of Somerset and glad you are championing local businesses . “Life begins at end of your comfort zone”.
I love that quote Jane, thanks so much - it's very true. It's really important to me to champion local businesses whenever I can - people work so hard and it's tough times x
I love this! I am nearly 50, and my life is changing rapidly. You look my age btw 😂. So impressed with your first attempt, and you are very comedic, especially about the dog. I shall follow! Keep inspiring please ❤
I’m 65. Older Mum of a 21 year old son. Just find a bloke who can make you laugh. But he can live around the corner. 😝 5 years younger would be ideal. Be specific on details. Ask the universe. I’ll watch your progress from NZ. Love the book reviews. I adored Heartburn. Anything by Nora Ephron is good. X
Deborah I love your message. i think I'll put you in charge of organising a man for me - the man you describe sounds ideal. I'm so pleased you like my video and thank you x And hello NZ!
Good luck with your channel. I really enjoyed every second. I love how realistic and authentic you are. I was very moved when you were talking about your Mum, the tears are just another expression of love and you don't need to apologise. Looking forward to watching the rest of your uploaded vlogs and joining you on your journey. ❤ x
Hi. Just discovered you yesterday and have watched all your videos! I’m a 53 year old woman on Vancouver Island, Canada. I’m enjoying your content and will look forward to more! ♥️
Just found your video and so enjoyed it. You are fabulous and am so looking forward to getting to know you and your life. I have 4 children all grown up and left home although all live within 15 mins car drive. Definitely a very different time of life starting now. I also have a little dog and love reading so thinking we will get along well 😊❤
It's so nice that your children live so close to you - you can have the best of all worlds. I love that you have a little dog too, and you enjoy reading - we will definitely get along well x
I stumbled across you and stopped to listen. Something about your honesty and the fact that I’m a 55 year old feeling insignificant and living a basic, pared down life. Children left home and I’m here with my beautiful dog Hazel. It’s a bittersweet time of my life. What you said about your mum made me think of my beloved dad who passed away recently. Looking forward to more of your videos ❤
Firstly, I'm so sorry that your dad passed away recently, and I hope you're looking after yourself. Regarding everything else, I absolutely hear you, and everything you are feeling, but please know that you are absolutely not insignificant. x And Hazel is a beauty
Your first vlog is great. I live in Scotland, I have only just arrived at 59 years young 😅 I'm chronically unwell and love making beautiful crafts at home. Good luck with your new channel ❤
Thank you so much for your lovely message. I’m so sorry you’re unwell and I hope that you are able to get the support you need. I bet your crafts are really beautiful x
New subscriber from Edinburgh. I turned 65 at the end of last year and let me tell you turning 60 was amazing! Liberating! I am also single and, after trying internet dating over the years, I have decided to embrace my singleness - it can be joyous! Anyway, LOVE your style and look forward to seeing more of you!
What a positive message you have sent me, I love it, thank you. I love Edinburgh too, one of my daughters was at university there so I know it quite well x
Your channel popped up on my feed yesterday and I am so happy it did! I very much resonate with your comments regarding the contraction of our lives as we get older. I just turned 57, my youngest is home for another year...but after that...who knows?!! It is a weird time. I am so glad to make your acquaintance and look forward to more videos!
I put on my shopping list this month a birthday card for Claire, my daughter, she passed in 2012😢. I turned 60 in November last yr just. I am looking to move quite far away from where i currently stay too and will be looking for work etc. I had thought to video diary that too when it happens as i relly enjoy these kind of diaries. Enjoying yours and i will follow xx
I've just come across your lovely channel and I have subscribed immediately, my kind of video and very well done for a first attempt. You live in such a beautiful part of the Country and I love your home, it's very similar to mine, quirky and eclectic. Your confidence will grow and you look wonderful, great figure and hair. I'm so looking forward to following you and your cute little Quincy.❤
Enjoyed your video. I like your style. Maybe you could give us a house tour? I look forward to more videos. The little chat in the car really resonated with me. I’m 56 next month and feeling my life is getting smaller. Feel the need to create or travel or something!
Thanks so much Alison. I think recognising that something needs to change is the first part of this important journey. Creating or travelling would be amazing for you x
New subbie here...love your personality that is your own style. Your home looks so cosy and interesting. Could you tell us your name - I didn't get it (apologies if it's written boldly somewhere!!) xx
I totally understand how you are feeling. All the milestone birthdays never bothered me one bit, but turning 60 for some odd reason did. I guess when I turned every one of those "big ones", I would say, well I still have (and double the age) years left. Even at 50, I figured heck I can live to be 100. BUT as soon as you hit 60, who lives to be 120?! I think this stage of life is as bad a puberty , but in another way, with a whole new set of challenges. It is harder to make friends, you really start to age, your kids are grown and have their own lives and mine live in different countries to me. You have friends pass away, your parents are gone.....your world does get much smaller and you become so much more attuned to every little bit of life, the happiness and the sadness of it all. It is not all doom and gloom, you just have to tell yourself, you still have a life to live, so live it:). Love your Russian hat by the way and your channel--I subscribed and look forward to more! See, you already have done something new and exciting at "your age".
It's such a complex time in our lives isn't it, there's so much happening. I suppose in many ways it is like puberty in that it's a time of great change - I'd never thought about it like that. Thank you for your lovely messages Laura x
Brilliant vlog. I am 58 with two grown up daughters. To enjoy my job and my working environment has become a priority, but it does not come easily, unfortunately . I also want to start dating, but lacking confidence somehow... Anyway, lovely vlog to come accross - you've got yourself a subscriber 😊
Oh I like this video. I am not at all impressed by fancy videos and people who only show perfection. Best of Luck to you with your channel. I think its going to be great
I’m looking forward to following your journey. I turned 50 last year, single and have two adult sons who, although live at home/uni, have their own lives. I’m starting to feel quite redundant. I’m divorced after a 25 year relationship, have had a relationship since but that didn’t work out. I’m not interested in dating at the moment! You look amazing for 58!
It sounds like you have much to navigate and I can definitely relate. Probably a smart move to step back from dating and just focus on you. Thanks so much for your encouragement and I hope I can give you something too. x
❤... please don't ever get slick but I had to turn on sub titles (superfluous sound track) for your lovely walk. 68 yo state pensioner here; growth and expansion can take many forms - contraction can provide space which you are using to interesting effect. 👍 Thanks for sharing. 🙋🏻♀️
Well done you, I'm a very proud daughter indeed
Thanks you so much for helping me darling and schlepping all the way here to save me xx
It is indeed…..🍀
I cannot believe that you have six children! Good god you look amazing x

The world definitely does get smaller as you get older. Well done on starting your channel. Have thoroughly enjoyed your first video. Love from brutally cold Canada (-26 🥶). Your walk to work was beautiful !
Thanks so much Amanda - you try and stay warm, that's truly brutal weather. But nonetheless, hello Canada! x

You're so kind - thank you from Quincy and I x
Lovely video 😊 enjoy your journey, Best wishes from a very cold Germany
Thank you so much Elaine - it's pretty chilly here in Somerset too (but I imagine it's much colder where you are..). Hello Germany! x
Great video! Loved the real and honest look at your life, very refreshing .
That's lovely to hear, and thank you very much x
Enjoyed your video. I like your style. Maybe you could give us a house tour? I look forward to more videos. The little chat in the car really resonated with me. I’m 56 next month and feeling my life is getting smaller. Feel the need to create or travel or something!
Thanks so much Alison. I think recognising that something needs to change is the first part of this important journey. Creating or travelling would be amazing for you x
Love from Ireland s west & loved this video & subscribed 💚💛🧡

@@RareBirds-n8o Lovely to meet you I just know I'm going to Love Love Love your content xx
Subscribed, love this vlog so refreshing. I Have a Romanian rescue doggie too 🥰
Thank you so much! I’m glad you have a Romanian rescue too - isn’t it lovely to be able to give them the happy life they deserve x
Love your channel just subscribed ❤
Thank you Veronica x
Just found you today , I seem to be shrinking myself and am 56 I do know what you are speaking of. 😊Great first video as well
Thank you so much x
Brilliant vlog. I am 58 with two grown up daughters. To enjoy my job and my working environment has become a priority, but it does not come easily, unfortunately . I also want to start dating, but lacking confidence somehow... Anyway, lovely vlog to come accross - you've got yourself a subscriber 😊
I hear you! Thank you so much for subscribing x
Hello from another rare bird from Somerset 👋
Oh wow! Hello and welcome x
Oh I like this video. I am not at all impressed by fancy videos and people who only show perfection. Best of Luck to you with your channel. I think its going to be great
Thanks so much Carey x
Great stuff! ;D
Thank you so much x
I enjoyed your video.😊
Thank you so much x
I’m looking forward to following your journey. I turned 50 last year, single and have two adult sons who, although live at home/uni, have their own lives. I’m starting to feel quite redundant. I’m divorced after a 25 year relationship, have had a relationship since but that didn’t work out. I’m not interested in dating at the moment! You look amazing for 58!
It sounds like you have much to navigate and I can definitely relate. Probably a smart move to step back from dating and just focus on you. Thanks so much for your encouragement and I hope I can give you something too. x
❤
❤... please don't ever get slick but I had to turn on sub titles (superfluous sound track) for your lovely walk. 68 yo state pensioner here; growth and expansion can take many forms - contraction can provide space which you are using to interesting effect. 👍 Thanks for sharing. 🙋🏻♀️
Thank you Paula! I'll make sure I organise a mic for the walks in then future x
Hello, can you tell me what shade of Charlotte Tilbury lipstick you used as i like it, new sub, very relatable vlog 🙌
No problem at all, it's Coral Kiss. Thank you so much for subscribing x
Enjoying!
Thank you Mary x
