    2 months ago or so i was trying to get the PH level of my inflatable pool right but i miscalculated somewhere, and mixed it in the bucket with my bare hand like you did. That started to hurt after 30 seconds or so LOL. Quickly ran to the water tap to rinse it off. Oh well my hand is still on there and functional 😂

    • @SwimmingPoolAZ-SPS
      @SwimmingPoolAZ-SPS  4 роки тому +1

      Yeah, acid will find any little cuts, scrapes, or bug bites and then start giving you love. A simple rinse like you did is the remedy.

    I like how you are more concerned about bleaching the liner with di-chlor than your hand and arm stirring, we didn’t even see you rinse off.
    DUDE! Careful what you teach.

      It’s the actual granules and moisture that will really do damage to your skin, not so much brief contact in solution. But yeah, lol you got a point

    We haven't had the pool up in three years, but every time we had it up we he an algae problem. We cleaned the pool as best we could with a skimmer to remove leaves and debris, but we had algae problems anyway.

    What about Calcium Hardness? Mine is at 0. I haven't worried about it too much with a vinyl pool & just try to keep everything else in balance but now that everything else is mostly balanced I should probably work a little on the CH.

    • @SwimmingPoolAZ-SPS
      @SwimmingPoolAZ-SPS  4 роки тому

      There’s a couple ways to manage calcium hardness, you can add calcium if it’s low (below 200 ppm). That’s not the case for you being in phx though. I’m sure your’s is on the high side (somewhere north of 600ppm). This is where we get into balancing the water. Think of a sea saw. On one side is calcium hungry water, on the other is water that scales (like your shower head does) Ideally we want sea saw to be balance level. A little to one side is ok, a little to the other is ok but we’re shooting for the sea saw to be balanced. The things that control how that sea saw is balanced are temperature (colder water tends toward calcium hungry, hot water tends toward scaling), alkalinity (low tends toward calcium hungry, high tends toward scaling), pH (low tends toward calcium hungry, high tends toward scaling), and calcium levels (low tends toward calcium hungry, high tends toward scaling).
      There’s a thing called the Langlier Saturation Index that takes all these factors into consideration, weights them appropriately, then spits out a number that tells you how balanced your water is (good range is somewhere between +.1 and -.1, anything outside of this and we want to make some adjustments).
      You can drain part of the pool water and add fresh to bring calcium levels down, you can lower alkalinity a bit. You can also lower pH but this will affect swimmer comfort and could cause damage to pool equipment if lowered too low for too long. Unless you have a heater or heat pump, it’s pretty tough to manage temperature.
      So after all that, the short answer is drain part of the water out and add fresh. That’s the simplest thing, then you can just keep all the other stuff in range and have non irritating water!

    As a new above ground pool owner, I am noticing that my chlorine floater sits in the same spot (along the edge of the pool) when the pump is not running. I am concerned that it will affect my pool liner over time (sitting near the wall). Should I keep the floater in the pool all the time even when the pump is not running? Any suggestions are appreciated.
