I've been showing him how to clean his records and to care for them---its a very refreshing experience and it reminds me of my younger days.
I have been into it since I was 16 in some form or another. I think I just settled into a stereo/ home theater hobby at age 30 out of realizing so much of what I do revolves around enjoying media. I am a DIY person on some things, but I have only made 4 sets of DIY speakers and 5 DIY subwoofers since I was 16 and only one pair of speakers in the past 3 years. I just like my LS50's more than any of the speakers I have done DIY right now.
Yes I've been into it since I was like 10 and my dad bought 2 giant speakers for our basement. And it said 500w on each of them and I was just amazed at how deep the music was and not shitty bass either. But we should start like an online club for younger audiophiles.

Isn't that brilliant? I really enjoyed looking at these systems Steve. It's interesting to see that quite few of these listeners seem to have reverted to "speakers first" - if you get my drift. It's a shame we don't have more Klipsch speakers knocking about in the UK.
My normal reaction these days to looking at any systems is to see all the bad acoustics (the majority of photos have whoppers in them). And while I was full ready to do the same here... I was left with a faint hope for humanity as a few of the submissions have attempts at actual acoustic treatment. This is a good sign. I think you would make one of these videos with me doing a voiceover pointing out all the bad acoustics visible in each photo... the equipment is pretty much irrelevant until you have good acoustics.
I spent the last 4.5 years investigating why stereos don’t tend to sound so good in people’s homes, like, say, mine. It was not easy at all, I investigated every aspect of sound systems, setup and room acoustics, experimented, made acoustic devices to learn, measured, read, listened, thought and basically took a brutal look at every aspect. The only rule was solutions had to be affordable and buying new gear was not an option until every other aspect was sorted. Besides ending up with two acoustically sorted rooms and systems and what I learned there... my biggest takeaway is room acoustics are more important than exotic kit and the vast majority of issues reviewers and pundits attribute to being the fault of speakers/gear are actually acoustics issues, which is why I find gear worship so much of a misdirection.
Man, everyone doesn't have the option of a perfect acoustically treated listening environment. Lots of people integrate their stereo system with the TV in their living room or bedroom now, and it has to work around the room rather than the room being set up around the stereo.
As I sit here with 7 Jamo bookshelves/center, 2 Polk Subs and a Denon AVR, in a small man cave, thinking it sounds stupendous ...I cant imagine what some of these high end systems sound like
I can dig it! It's cool for you to do this. It doesn't take a lot of money to enjoy music.
Tech firms have near or total monopolies. This has to, and I think will, be subject to multinational controls and agreements at some point.

Yeah im 31 and have re sparked so older co workers into the vintage gear again, they told me they got so busy with life they forgot how good it sounded
Love this series’ that you do. It’s so good to get a brief glimpse into other peoples’ set ups. 👏🌹🇦🇺
It’s really great to see some youngsters into hi-if audio! It’s not about convenience all of the time, right? Wish I still had the Tandberg 64 R2R and Quad electrostatic speakers my dad handed down to me 30 years ago.
Man i wish i had know about this series!
28, Genelec 8260 3 way diffractionless studio monitors with concentric drivers and Genelec 7271 dual 12" subwoofer with the largest port you've never seen, perfectly integrated with GLM. Then for surround sound, two Kali IN-5 speakers.
Need more active monitors that can flawlessly play from genre to genre with a wide sweet spot and great off axis response!
I want to know who's bankrolling these kids? Seriously, it's fascinating to get a peak into the homes of fellow audiophiles around the world. Each set up creates an interesting mental picture of the person and personality behind it!
Those Caintuck 15 inch open baffle speakers have real potential. I use the same drivers in my DIY open baffles.
Where do you guy speaker drivers? Cause lmao I want to build speakers but I’m really thinking of using high end car speakers cause I can’t find anywhere to buy speaker drivers new
@@santiagoaguilar8429 Google speaker driver sales. Parts Express, Madisound, US Speaker...just to name a few. The 15 in fullrange driver is from Lii Audio. It is 400 plus shipping for a pair. About 480 to my door. I love mine. Not intended to bang at 120 db, but great for most music.
In 1979 i had the Altec Lansing series 9 speakers
powered by thw Sansui AU-717.Sold the whole thing to buy my first car
Nice to see young people into audio!
Isn't that brilliant? I really enjoyed looking at these systems Steve.
It's interesting to see that quite few of these listeners seem to have reverted to "speakers first" - if you get my drift.
It's a shame we don't have more Klipsch speakers knocking about in the UK.
My system is on UA-cam! HI MA!!!👋🏽
Feels great doesn't it! I was thrilled when mine was shown!
Well done Marius \m/
My normal reaction these days to looking at any systems is to see all the bad acoustics (the majority of photos have whoppers in them). And while I was full ready to do the same here... I was left with a faint hope for humanity as a few of the submissions have attempts at actual acoustic treatment. This is a good sign.
I think you would make one of these videos with me doing a voiceover pointing out all the bad acoustics visible in each photo... the equipment is pretty much irrelevant until you have good acoustics.
Did you start out this smart? Did it take you some time to figure it out and get to be the genius you are today?
@@bayard1332 how do you feel about cables?
O no, people’s rights are about to start ending where Steve’s feelings begin.
Man, everyone doesn't have the option of a perfect acoustically treated listening environment. Lots of people integrate their stereo system with the TV in their living room or bedroom now, and it has to work around the room rather than the room being set up around the stereo.
I started collecting vinyl at 9 years old though I was a teen before I had my own system.
Lovely stuff!
I’m 28 and have a half decent system too - had I realised this was running I would have submitted it
Lots of nice systems!
What a great video.
Liked vid, alot of really nice systems
I have Nakamichi Stasis Receiver TA-2 paired with Marantz CD-67. And i love it.
@Jingle Nuts Nakamichi with Stasis have adorable sound.
As I sit here with 7 Jamo bookshelves/center, 2 Polk Subs and a Denon AVR, in a small man cave, thinking it sounds stupendous ...I cant imagine what some of these high end systems sound like
how cool is everyones setup though!
