Hey there great vids. I’ve been sharktooth hunting at Calvert Cliffs for 40 yrs. It’s an amazing and beautiful area to hunt. I’ve got about 4,000 teeth total (mostly small or tiny), but have had some amazing finds over the years. That includes fossils and shells. A friend who owns a large piece of property on the cliffs gave some great advice on finding the big ones. Walking out to about knee height in the water, in that area there is usually a ridge and cliff in the sand. The big ones hide there because they get too heavy to make it over that ridge. Taking one of those contractor 5 gallon paint buckets, cutting the bottom off and attaching some wire mesh to the bottom makes a great sand filter out in the water to catch the bigger teeth. Good luck!
I love that you and Kyle got a chance to meet and go hunting! Very cool! Really liked the massive shells you found, thank you so much for taking us along for this adventure! Have a wonderful week Hoppe!
It was such a great time finally getting to meet up and do some collecting together! Thanks for watching, and hope you have a wonderful week as well! ~HH
Love collab!! I’m local to your first location. Inspiring me to get back out there. The snaggle tooth is one of my favs to find. Looking forward to your next video!!
Jealous of you locals! If I lived closer, I'd be out there almost every day! Hemis are some of my favorites as well. Thanks for the support, new video coming soon! ~HH
What a sick collab and a sick video! I'm just now getting into making fossil hunting videos myself and I've been taking a ton of inspiration from you both. Keep up the great videos!
I found out about your channel by watching Wild Kyle's video and clicking the link he provided in the description. Great video, and it was nice to see the rockhounding trip from your perspective too. Nice finds!! I've never been out that way before, but it looks like a wonderful spot to do some hounding if I'm ever in the area.
Native Americans wore those shells as jewelry. I've found many oyster shells, stone, clay pipe, arrowheads, old bottles, teeth, stone tools, old buttons, civil war bullets and more.
It's a shame when fossil sites get destroyed by construction! I've heard far too many tales about sites around here that were super productive decades ago but have since been developed over. ~HH
You'll find ecphora meganae there . The best ecphora come from the st Mary's formation and there is no ecphora garnderae garnderae there which would be the state fossil.
I had such a blast hanging out up there man! Can't wait to do it again!
I waterskied there, grew up there! WOOO HOOO!!!! Nice to see you both enjoying yourselves!
Heck yeah, brother! I'll make my way down to FL at some point and we'll run it back!
Same. I live in maryland and need to get in touch with Hoppe to get out with my boys!

Love this place, easy to reach with kids, beach does get small during high tide.
It really is a great site, especially for families! ~HH

Going to the beach this week to see if can get some fossils.. inspired by your video
I go to Calvert Cliffs all the time, have you tried Flags Pond? It’s 10 minutes away from CC. Also, where in VA did you go for the 2nd hunt?
There used to be a spot in Fort Worth Texas that had a wall of Shells 15 to 20 feet high, its no longer there due to development

We just went yesterday to Matoaka. I have watched to learn how to find teet and of course I can not send pics but are crocodile teeth a big thing?
Where are you guys hunting in Calvert cliffs? Most of the beaches are privately owned. How can people find a good location to hunt?
You'll find ecphora meganae there . The best ecphora come from the st Mary's formation and there is no ecphora garnderae garnderae there which would be the state fossil.
So why is Matoka such a heavy shell area?
Ur buddy from the boat new Hampshire whale watching
