    Best thing about this light is that it will work with bars removed... so you can start your seedlings under just one bar with dimming of 25% ( 10% increments if ran through AC inf controller). Saves a fortune in energy, just adding the bars as your grow spreads out. Lumateks own tech support guys told me it was ok when I spoke to them on the phone as well

      The issue I´ve found with leaving only 1, 2 or 3 bars on is that the dimmer does not work properly. The bar is actually at 75% when the dimmer is at 25%. Check de wattage used when having less than 3 bars on.

    Why is there not a single growlight with similar quality and prices to the ones using LM301 chips but with 1500-2000K instead of 3000+? Almost all the indoor strains were bred under HPS and sometimes even just LPS with about 1500K, using now those 3500K LEDs along with their general difference in power, penetration, single-point distribution etc. makes it really, really hard to adjust everything for breeding those old/base genetics. The most modern ones of cause are already adapting to LED light but the sheer intensity along with that "itching" blue spectrum can promote all kinds of leaf issues, lockouts, upshooting, etc. It's just a very different environment for the plants sitting in cold but highly intense light vs. highly warm infrared radiating HPS lamps.
    Please bring that topic up and discuss it with real breeders, not only growers because they often can't attribute those effects clearly enough to their causes.
    It would be really cool to have a light in the quality and price range of Kingbrite or similars but with seperate control of red, blue and green. Then you could simply mix the perfect spectrum for your grow, depending on genetics, environment etc. (especially in colder climates the plants really miss that huge amount of red and infrared)

    • @latimeria2
      @latimeria2 Місяць тому +2

      I´ve had issues growing old school genetics on LEDS. Specially anything with haze in them. Plants that have been selected for years to perform well under HPS and MH lamps don´t adjust well to LEDs. You have to keep the dimmer at 75% until the third or fourth week of flowering to prevent leaf burn and other issues. I usually only use 100% the last 3-5 weeks of flowering. (Currently using LUMATEK 600w pro 2.7 in 4x4 space)
      I now have changed mother plants selecting the seeds that performed well under LEDs and newer genetics.
      Not a good idea to have a mother plant that has been selected under CMH or HPS and later grown on LEDs.
      The best results I´ve ever obtained was mixing CMH with LEDs. Using a small 150W CMH as a support light in the middle of the grow and keeping the 600W LED at 75% during the entire grow. It used about 620w of total input between the two lights. About the same as using the LEDs at 100%

    Great video as usual. I have a question i hope you can help me with. Ive looked around but haven't found a conclusive answer. Once a leaf fades as a normal part of the flowering process, does that leaf continue to be able to turn light into energy?? I feel like once a leaf is no longer green it switches from being a converter of light to just being used for the nutrients held within and removing them wouldn't drastically affect growth as long as I maintain a healthy EC🤷‍♂️

It has to much white light for me and I had an issue with operating the light 3 months after purchase and no one ever responded to my emails. Well today I figured out one of the array 4s is stuck on high and I now have plants trying to re vege on me. I did send an email but doubtful I will get a response again.

      Omega don't say which diodes they use, unlikely they are using the same branded top bins. Also they use more red to bump the efficiency up (reds are cheaper and way more efficient than white).
      This model lumatek has ~half the reds and about 1/3 more total diodes. A few places had the infinity under £400 for a while, the lumatek's cost 50% more than that wholesale.

    Seems like the higher end brands like Lumatek, and San Lights are relying a bit on their name and perceived quality. The specs here are hardly class leading but respectable until you consider you can get much cheaper grow lights with higher efficiency. Likely in two years or so there will be new LED diodes and improvements so I can't see the advantage of the extra costs.
    That is at least for a home grower.

I try to reduce noise since I live close to other people and I exhaust from a basement window that might be close to someones bedroom window for example.
