@@videneikha268 I know. My comment is not about the camera, it's about the lens. My idea is that both of them will use a beginner camera, but the beginner gets to use many expensive lenses, whereas the pro only gets the kit lens.
I really enjoy your film making content, Parker. You have a real gift in explaining and articulating your tutorials and have been a true inspiration in my stepping up my production value on my channel! Thank you for all you guys do and your great tips!
@@got2beable almost everybody's first buy after the camera is the reflector. It's the most basic tool that comes handy all the time, diffusing the light or blocking it or reflecting it.
On Jake's skit, perhaps a simple fix would have been to have the two actors trade sides, putting Landon with the lighter shirt on the side where the background is darker.
Some ideas! Pro with kit lens vs Beginner with unlimited lens choices. Pro with cheap/small drone (like the DJI Spark) vs Beginner with expensive drone (like the DJI Inspire 2). Pro with no SFX website library use (has to make own SFX to include in their video) vs Beginner with unlimited SFX website library (like Musicbed, Soundstripe, etc.). Pro only handheld vs Beginner with unlimited gimbals/stabilizers/sliders. Pro with no audio recorder/mic vs Beginner with unlimited audio.
With this series they want to show beginners that they don't need expensive gear in order to do professional video. When it comes to software you can get pro software for low budget or even for free like Davinci Resolve. So the comparison makes no sense because even beginners have access to pro software. That means the only difference is the knowledge here and clearly the pro will win.
i actually like the windows footages more. You see more details of the surrounding there instead of just dark edges as it was at some shots. I think this looks more realistic and also familiar and comfortable
Josh is such a great addition! So cool to see a beginner learning, it's so accessible and really inviting to try some techniques with what we already have. Thank you!
I started my 'film'-journey about half a year ago, got enrolled in the FTF course and excited to say that I've got my first big $ project coming up for a multi-billion $ company!!! Thanks FTF-crew!
You guys are all GREAT! I really enjoy this series you learn a TON. I think what I enjoyed most is the message behind this. To me on the beginner side letting Josh explain his decisions as best he could even though he didn't know all of the terminology and or might've stumbled over his words a little was sooo appreciated. To me that's saying there's nothing to be scared of and no need to get everything perfect before you start... you are good enough! At least that's what I got from it! I will be getting started with my youtube video stuff soon as well. I just need a better computer that can handle it or else I would've started already! Thanks for this great watch!
Also, I am a FTF member and learn something new every time I study the videos. Thanks for the courses and all the new content and variety that is added all of the time.
Nice work Walbeck! Photography is a practical oriented subject and you bring it out in the best way possible...Now do 1080 with a pro vs a 4k with an amateur...once again, good lessons!
You know you’re doing something right, when random people (me) that have been watching this channel since its early days, have developed a sense of pride by watching this channel grow into what it is today, that feeling extends to the kid, dude, you can see the hard work he’s done from the first episode of this series to this last one......In the Army, we would tell our Soldiers their doing great by telling them “keep doing what you’re doing” it was way of saying “excellent job but don’t let it get to your head”............so........KEEP DOING WHAT YOU’RE DOING 😂😎
At 07:51 he puts the hoodie on and 07:53 his hoodie is down and then 07:56 his hoodie is on again, continuation is key folks! hahah even tho i caught this i'm still pretty much an amateur myself. Loving this series and I've been learning a lot through this channel!
Mobile videography🙈 Pro with expensive mobile, and biggner with budget mobile. Can you make a video on this topic. This will inspire a lot of mobile content creators.
Loving this series, guys. It's nice to see Josh's progress too. I love Parker's critique - he really shows you what to look for - and also that you (me) have a lot more to learn LOL. Not that this matters for the specific exercise, but there was continuity issue at 7:54 - the hoodie goes on at abt 7:52, the over the shoulder shot - there's no hoodie. & "btw" Landon should actually hone his acting skills and pursue acting. His has good thoughtful looks behind the eyes at times which is cinematic gold for film.
Can you do a Pro v Beginner GoPro Battle? Action or Cinematic. Pro only what comes in the box with camera. No Color grading. Beginner any GoPro accessory’s he wants. With color grading. Please please please!!!!
Good stuff, great content! One thing I'd say is that both filmmakers have too much movement in their compositions. "Movement" is part of filmmaking language. It says something. I see this among a lot of "dslr era" filmmakers; they always call for more movement in their shots calling it "more dynamic", "more cinematic", but the reality is that motion is a lot more than that. It has to be motivated and only then it is special.
You’re right, it would have been way more interesting if the movement had been limited to “let’s make it interesting”, revealing the Monopoly money, and then the crunch or showing the cards.
I would love to see pro with low budget audio equipment vs beginner with expensive audio gear. Although you may need to get a new beginner, this guy is getting pretty good, haha. These are some of my favorite videos
Please do a competition between beginner with the pro gear vs pro with a budget level DSLR with kit lens and budget lighting in indoor situation! Thanks!
Amazing video guys !! So much value and technique shared !! This idea of comparing a pro with no lights and "beginner" with pro lights is great (as well as the others comparisons you made on the channel). Thank you for your work. You guys are so motivating and uplifting for me !!! William from France 😊
Great stuff guys. Been doing lighting for years (though not a pro) and picked up a few great tips such as Rembrandt type lighting, the proper clothes to wear against a background and always filming on the dark side of the subjects. Made some mistakes in the past doing the opposite. Would like to see Pro vs Beginner audio outside when it is windy.
Really cool! I just learned about Rembrandt lighting from this (not a filmmaker) and was delighted to learn I’ve inadvertently used it in a very small percentage of my shots 🤗
Beautiful work, thank you! I would like to see Film and Digital short film, but not on whats better, but on how different and special each medium is and can be used to compliment the story and the world And how slightly you might want to change the way you shoot (camera movement, acting pace, dialogue style, body language, lighting) depending on how it looks better for that medium and its response
You should do a $5,000 dollar budget contest. The pro and beginner is given $5,000 to spend on any equipment they think would tell the best story for a commercial or branding video. This would be good because a lot of beginners I think have a budget relative to that price range but never know how to properly spend it.
Always informative and so professional...The intro reminded me of a scene in Rango before "he killed the bird with one bullet"....Next challenge camera lenses! wish you could produce such contents weekly...
Nice stuff. I also wanted to see pro with lighting in the end.

Man this guy Parker is on a new level. He spots everything lol. Also wearing a white shirt to create dimensions is a smooth tip i didn't thought about
yeah man, the way he describes every little detail is on a much more professional level than the “big youtubers”
The pro should have been able to used at least a reflector or something that can bounced light.
I agree
Yeah i thought he was gonna do that, idk if its against the rules, or he just didn't think of that
I like that he didnt use a reflector it just shows the pure way to take something without any equipment needed. Just the camera
Mainly wanted to do it with ZERO tools to prove the point but yeah I definitely wanted to use a reflector haha
