I can't believe Maggie Nichols got a 9.975, and one 10 from a judge on beam, but Kyla got 9.8 and Katelyn a 9.95.. They did better than her! She should have gotten a 9.8+ She's so overscored. Truth is, UCLA did better and should have won.
ILYJC91 FE I totally agree. Maggie’s feet were apart and it’s unfair. They always over score OU! Kyla’s floor deserved that 3rd 10. She deserves that Gym Slam. I just hope Bruins come out on top again at the NCAA finals
Maggie is certainly amazing no doubt, but tonight Kayla was just on and literally the only miss on her beam was a foot shift and how she did not get a 10 on that floor I have no idea. Oh yeah Katelyn nailed that beam that was a 10 in my books.
oklahoma is soooo overscored which honestly makes it unfair to the other teams. they have great gymnasts but it was so obvious that the judges favored oklahoma in this meet.
Im slightly confused how Brenna Dowell got a 9.925 when she almost fell out of her first pass on the floor.. I am not one to call bad calls but that was def a bad call and she got have gotten scored a lil lower at least 9.85 if not a 9.825
ILYJC91 FE yeah I saw similar scores from when Florida came to Oklahoma.. I just think the judges need to be more well rounded on vault and beam because that’s where the issues are.. Oklahoma gets away with a lot more issues then what they should which makes people upset.. Dont get me wrong Oklahoma, I do believe was the better team yesterday; however, they shouldnt have scored so high and the score should’ve much closer to UCLA’s score
All of the yurchenko fulls from UCLA were underscored. Both Kramer and Tratz should have been at least 9.8. Beam for UCLA was also underscored. I'm not surprised that OU won but the judges did not score UCLA fairly this meet.
UCLA as a whole was so underscored, for example on floor, Marzetta deserved at least a 9.875 or a 9.9 after that stuck full in. And Kyla on beam was a fucking joke, she moves her foot and gets .125 off, the judges so clearly favored Oklahoma in this meet and it is kinda upsetting. Even in Pauley, UCLA is not as overscored as OU
@@Johnnysgame1275 I agree. Margzetta deserved higher, Kramer and Dennis deserved higher on their vaults, Ross and Ohashi deserved higher on beam for routines that were visibly better than Maggie Nichols who should not have gotten a 9.975. And Dowell was overscored on the floor. It's always funny to me how OU falters on the third end then magically comes out with a win when so many people see their routines as overscored and UCLA's as underscored.
Scoring aside, I love the genuine respect UCLA and OU have for each other. They compete hard but KJ and Miss Val clearly foster a positive and respectful relationship, which I appreciate. Not to mention the impeccable gymnastics from both teams; it just feels like a celebration when these two teams compete. I’m a Bruin fan through and through but will always be behind the Sooners as well.
Ok but Kyla's 9.875 on beam was objectively ridiculous. If the judges want to be extremely strict on beam, fine. (Supposedly the judges didn't give her the connection bonus for the front aerial to sissone). But they would've had to be strict with EVERYONE'S scores, and they clearly weren't because they gave maggie a 9.975 (and @45:42 you can clearly see that she has a low back leg and her foot is flexed. Yet one judge gave her a 10?!??) And you could argue she was overscored on vault (I was honestly very surprised the judges gave her a 10), but the events are judged independently. You can't take away points in one event to make up for giving her too many in another one!!!
I'm a huge fan of both OU and UCLA and while I do think that OU should have won this meet, the scoring was so blatantly in their favour that it's actually laughable. Kyla's beam routine easily should have been a 9.95, Kaitlyn should have had a 10 on beam and Kyla should've had one on floor (seriously judges just give her that floor 10 for real!!). Marz's floor was also ridiculously underscored - she was essentially flawless on all of her landings. Maggie was grossly overscored on beam - I had her around a 9.85/9.9 for the little balance checks and if we compare it to the way Kyla was scored on beam, she'd probably be closer to a 9.7. Gracie & Pauline's vaults were also judged a little too harshly in my opinion - I think they should have been closer to that 9.825 region (Nia too!). All in all, the scoring in the last two rotations was exceptionally far off the mark and I just feel as though OU was grossly favoured by the judges (not just in this meet, but at home meets in general). I know that the home team is always favoured by the judges but it should never be to this much of an extent that you have to grossly underscore the visiting team in order to pull the win off.
@@erikalindley1194 That’s not the problem. The vaults scored in the 9.700’s and they basically stuck them. The scoring for this meet was horrendous. Oklahoma is going to continue scoring in the 198.00’s for no reason. It’s so bad, that no other team has a chance.
OU deserved to win, but it should’ve been a lot more closer, UCLA was clearly underscored is some of the vaults, Marz floor was way too low, Kyla shoul’ve got a 10 on floor, and a 9.95 on beam, and a 10 for Kate on beam with a routine that was clearly better than Maggie’s 9.975 who has visible errors.
I was so bothered by Maggie's beam score. That flexed back leg on the split leap kills me and she lands with her feet really far apart in both Bars and Beam. I just don't understand it. I was pretty mad about Kyla getting such a low beam score for a tiny "shift" in her feet. Being lowballed meant that she dropped in Beam ranking to 6 or 7 now. Total BS score. She will get that perfect 10 on floor one day. Her floor this meet was best I've seen her do and she flirted with the camera!
Did the judges watched the same meet? How did Nichols scored 9.975 on Beam and Ross only 9.875? How did Trautman scored 9.95 on Floor with those flexed feet and landings, But Frasier got only an 9.825? These are only a few of my notes. Both teams are great but OU is always overscored. Also... what is with those body moves from A. Webb? It makes me cringe...it’s like she’s bending from all bones, it’s too much, it’s not artistic at all.
Ana Maria Coleasa I was there and I was sure Kyla was going to get ATLEAST a 9.900 I thought she was gonna get a 9.950 and when her score popped up Mrs Val and the other coaches looked mad and confused and went and talked to the judges
i completely agree with the problematic scoring, however i LOVE anastasia webbs floor routine (also the the dance on beam is great)! Yes it's a lot and she bends every single bone in her upper body, but not many people can do that or even dare to do that much body movement on beam! I absolutely love it! it's definitely my favorite floor routine of oklahoma and at least in the top 10 of my all time favorite ncaa routines! LOVE IT (but also respect your point of few - because artistry is subjectiv and not every body likes the same stuff. just the part about daring to move your body that much deserves appreciation from everybody because she really takes risk with that on beam).
Ana - excellent recap and I saw it the same way. A Webb - great athlete - but had me cringing a bit. I don't know, maybe going too far here, but is Frazier's routine too progressive? I LOVE IT, but it's like when she did it at Utah, the crowd was polite, but also, like "uhm, ah, oh". She did it in Palo Alto, Seattle and LA and the crowd goes nuts. I don't know, just saying...
Just watched this again Feb 2021, and it’s so wonderful to see a huge pre-Covid gymnastics meet like this! I was in the audience that day, and it’s fantastic to witness this OU win over UCLA again! Nichols, Ross, Dowell, Ohashi, Lehrmann, Webb, Degouveia, LaPinta, Thomas, Trautman - such a treat!
Don’t get me wrong, I love Madison Kocian, but I think she needs to get taken out of the beam lineup. She has been very inconsistent and has not brought in a score on beam greater then a 9.85 this year. Maybe someone like Kendall or Marzetta could b put in
Ana Ornelas I know one hundred percent, Kendal has a really good triple series and has done really well in past meets. Just for now keep Madison to bars and she can focus there
she put up a 9.875 but I honestly think that UCLA needs to fix their beam lineup as a whole. Grace Glenn's routine was a 9.9 and as good as she is in the leadoff spot she should be put later in the lineup. Brielle could be a good leadoff and so could Kocian (i believe Kocian had her best scores in the leadoff position). Nia Dennis also had a 9.975 in the beam lineup so I don't know why she isn't being put up.
Kyla and Katelyn were amazing! Obviously she’s doing less difficulty in college but I really think Kyla has improved. Aside from vault, UCLA was the stronger team. Thank you for posting this! The broadcast only recorded for an hour and a half and missed the last ten minutes.
Kyla Ross definitely underscored on beam. While OU had a couple of amazing routines on floor they also had some not so difficult ones that scored high. Both teams great but let's see what happens at NCAAs on a more even playing field.
I love watching this kind of gymnastics. To me it is a lot more exciting and I love the face that I can actually see what they are doing and they are not flipping and twisting around fast as much. NCAA is better than elite for me.
This overscoring not only affects rankings, but the minds of OU gymnasts. They're not as good as their judges make them out to be. How are the judges allowing these young ladies to have a false sense of security with regard to their gymnastics. If the scoring at the NCAA finals are what they're meant to be, I guarantee these OU gymnasts will score at please a 0.05 lower in every routine they do. It's not fair on them. AJ stop bribing the judges, it's enough. Your team will suffer in the long run.
1) She might not be consistent enough yet (at the college level). She did vault against stanford this season and got a 9.77. College and elite are super different and it's her first year at UCLA. Like maddie kocian is literally a world champion bar worker but it still took her awhile to be good/consistent at the college level even though the routines are way easier. 2) She might not want to? They get to choose which events they want to work on. She's competing floor like every meet and bars pretty often, maybe she's mostly focusing on those for now. Just a thought
UCLA beat this team(in my opinion) but Oklahoma was so over Scored! Maggie Nichols did not deserve those scores. Kyla, Katelyn , and Maddie deserved so much more
Unbelievable to see UCLA get two perfect 10s while Nichols is still not in the all around and still getting the W. That’s a true team. But they this last year but fell so short. Let’s hope they can get the job done this time around!
She's always overscored. Ucla was robbed on beam. She had many deductions and got a 10 from one judge, making it a 9.975, while Kyla and Katelyn did much better and got lower scores..
Last comment, and never to be mean. Someone earlier posted a comment along the lines of OU overdoes floor... sometimes less is more. I 100% agree. I watched each routine a second time and was dizzy and done; on the other hand I could watch Hano and Frazier 100 times in a row.
Does anyone know some resources where I can find out some more about gymnastics?? Kind of get myself in the community! Maybe like some websites or something?? Thanks!!
I agree. I thought the OKlahoma gymnasts were lovely and had great technique. The choreo they were given looked all the same from routine to routine. Flailing hands, shimmy shimmy, frenetic. No great separation from routine to routine. Not to take away from the ladies. More the choreographer designing the routines.
I am not familiar with this competition.. a few questions if some1 will be so nice to explain please 1 it seems that Oklahoma did 3 more competitions than UCLA .. so UCLA must do 3 extra sometime later? 2 must these two teams meet again later on at UCLA gym? Ie each get a home and away match or not? 3 how many matches for every team? Thanx and appreciated
There's a minimum of meets each team must compete on to qualify to nationals (can't remember how many) but they can choose to compete a few more if they want to. And no, they don't have to compete at UCLA later on. The scores they get and whether they are away or home scores are more important than winning or losing a meet.
What is that kind of small jump some gymnasts do on the floor excercise at the end of their tumbling? It seems like it’s there to “disguise” bad landings-if that’s the case, why don’t gymnasts just add these small jumps at the end of every pass lol
Kyla should have gotten 10's on bars, vault, AND floor. It's ridiculous. Her beam should have been 9.95. It is so unfair she could have had a huge all-around score but the judges are so unfair tbh.
She never had it. I'm so sorry. I really did root for her in elite, and my heart broke when she got injured before Rio. However, I never quite understood how she had a gym slam in her first year. She's so average. Then you have someone like Finnegan who's only had a few 10s here and there. It's ridiculous. You have Trinity Thomas who hasn't got one 10 in her freshman year, but who is a better gymnast than Maggie. It's absolutely ridiculous.
@@mariam__x truth. I just can't wrap my head around the NCAA Gymnastics scoring system. Its either obscenely overscored or shockingly underscored........
Um she competed Bars and Beam. Did you not watch the video? Or read thru the comments, half of which is complaining about her hyper inflated beam score?
Don’t attack me but Kyla Ross should not of gotten a 10.0 on vault. Yes I do believe that she should have received one on bars, but her landing in vault was not perfect. She is just so hyped up that they give her landing to her. She landed so low and her feet never snapped. Sorry but that’s what I think 🤷♀️
Her landing was perfect.. Technically everything she did in the air as well as her landing was perfect.. Her knee bend was deep enough to where it was accepted but if it was a tad more she wouldn’t have gotten perfect
Why is UCLA wearing Leo’s from 2018 I haven’t seen UCLA wearing one new Leo this season is it supposed to be like a throwback from winning the national championships last year
Because there's around 12-15 meets in a year and new leos cost money and time. Their supplier Rebecca mom's leotards hand design each one and each new one takes a lot of editing and planning and they have to get approval at each stage of the design process. (and yes it's a throwback to the NCAAs as it's the rematch)
Wow UCLA should have won this meet. Kayla was defo robbed of a 10 on floor.... come on that could have been her first 10 on the floor and a 9.875 for a tiny shift of the feet on landing looooooooool the judges are just not been fair. Felisha Hano deserved a 10 too on that floor smh. Grace deserved a 9.925 come on. The way i see it, if the judges score like that for Oklahoma they should have no roblem scoring like that for UCLA on floor because they had amazing performances in that rotation
For the most part, OU seems to recruit a certain body type: long lines, overly lean and willowy... and then makes them do the ugliest and most ungraceful choreo on floor. Just.... why? Smh.
LOOOOOOL @ everything OU in this meet. Such a laughing stock. It's pathetic. I'm rooting so hard for my Bruins to retain their NCAA title, but they have to work on vault. I just could not stand if OU win the NCAA after this horrendous season of overscoring.
it's more practical, it allows them to move faster since it's so tight and it's because pants could hide mistakes. so basically it's easier to see their feet and legs and it's also more practical
Ok, so, here’s the thing...NCAA should start rewarding difficulty as well as artistry, rules have to change immediately! Example; just because a gymnast went viral, does not mean at all that judges have to give her 10’s every time, yes I am speaking about Ohashi, don’t get me wrong, she’s amazing, but most of her passes are not difficult. This seems very political to me.
We don't want NCAA to reward difficulty. Most of these gymnasts come from the elite world, where the skills are very taxing on their bodies. When they come to college they want to water down their routines and just have fun with gymnastics again.
Phew! I’ve seen some questionable tens in the ncaa but Kyla’s bar routine was perfect. Talk about stuck cold

@@aries4alexs she's training the double, there's videos of it
UCLA beat this team(in my opinion) but Oklahoma was so over Scored!

I'm watching this over and over, and trying to figure out how OU had the win over UCLA.
Does anyone know what Emma LaPinta’s floor music is (58:20)? It sounds so familiar but I can’t figure out what song it is.
Sorry not sorry by Demi Lavato
Sorry not sorry
Last comment, and never to be mean. Someone earlier posted a comment along the lines of OU overdoes floor... sometimes less is more. I 100% agree. I watched each routine a second time and was dizzy and done; on the other hand I could watch Hano and Frazier 100 times in a row.
Going back and watching older meets because I miss Maggie and Kyla’s gymnastics.
Does anyone know some resources where I can find out some more about gymnastics?? Kind of get myself in the community! Maybe like some websites or something?? Thanks!!
UCLA was robbed UCLA deserved to win like look at kaitlyn ohashi a lot better then the last girl
I don't like Oklahomas floor choreographies. Sometimes less is more...
I agree. I thought the OKlahoma gymnasts were lovely and had great technique. The choreo they were given looked all the same from routine to routine. Flailing hands, shimmy shimmy, frenetic. No great separation from routine to routine. Not to take away from the ladies. More the choreographer designing the routines.
I am not familiar with this competition.. a few questions if some1 will be so nice to explain please
1 it seems that Oklahoma did 3 more competitions than UCLA .. so UCLA must do 3 extra sometime later?
2 must these two teams meet again later on at UCLA gym? Ie each get a home and away match or not?
3 how many matches for every team?
Thanx and appreciated
There's a minimum of meets each team must compete on to qualify to nationals (can't remember how many) but they can choose to compete a few more if they want to. And no, they don't have to compete at UCLA later on. The scores they get and whether they are away or home scores are more important than winning or losing a meet.
@@julietrc15 so this is to go to nationals?
@@ccitnavrae it's the regular season, which ends soon. Post season includes regionals and nationals
@@julietrc15 aha thx much appreciated 😃
@@ccitnavrae no problem and I hope you keep on watching because it's a super fun sport 😊
Loved Vogues? Floor routine
I do think that Maggie’s lost finesse though 😔
@@mariam__x LOL what? She's far from average. She's been one of the top gymnasts in the world for like 8 years now.
What Song on 12:37 ?
Why wasn’t Maggie Nicholas competing this weekend against ucla
Um she competed Bars and Beam. Did you not watch the video? Or read thru the comments, half of which is complaining about her hyper inflated beam score?
9.775 on Pauline’s vault??
I KNOW ONE JUDGE WENT 9.7
It's like everytime UCLA is under scored in a meet
THANKS FOR SHARING
ou is always overscored
Aww man I thought this was March 3rd this year UGH! Lol thanks for sharing tho lol
Thank you!
I’d rather watch collegiate gymnastics than elite any day. They actually get the fact that it’s ARTISTIC.
loved margzetta's tribute to Paris is burning!
Song at 48:50?
Grace Sewell can’t knock me down by Anna Mae
did she call her brenna mcdowell?
@Justin Time true
Gen Mcclain I don’t know 😂
they cheated Kyla on beam and over scored sooners on floor as usual!!!!
Don’t attack me but Kyla Ross should not of gotten a 10.0 on vault. Yes I do believe that she should have received one on bars, but her landing in vault was not perfect. She is just so hyped up that they give her landing to her. She landed so low and her feet never snapped. Sorry but that’s what I think 🤷♀️
peytonnn I know
Her landing was perfect.. Technically everything she did in the air as well as her landing was perfect.. Her knee bend was deep enough to where it was accepted but if it was a tad more she wouldn’t have gotten perfect
Agreed. She tripped to me and no control on the landing
@@eastmeck011 her ankles were separated in the air and when she landed but that may not be what the judges took off for
So UCLA was underscored and Oklahoma was over-scored. UCLA is always underscored as if the judges are scared to let there full potential be revealed.
Кайла Рос не зря за национальную сборную выступала. Красивая, уверенная, и с хореогрфией все в порядке
Brenna Dowell was way overscored on floor. Really a 9.925? Her first pass was way out o control
they're allowed to take a step
Why is UCLA wearing Leo’s from 2018 I haven’t seen UCLA wearing one new Leo this season is it supposed to be like a throwback from winning the national championships last year
Because there's around 12-15 meets in a year and new leos cost money and time. Their supplier Rebecca mom's leotards hand design each one and each new one takes a lot of editing and planning and they have to get approval at each stage of the design process. (and yes it's a throwback to the NCAAs as it's the rematch)
Who won?
Shalow A.J Oklahoma
Wow UCLA should have won this meet. Kayla was defo robbed of a 10 on floor.... come on that could have been her first 10 on the floor and a 9.875 for a tiny shift of the feet on landing looooooooool the judges are just not been fair. Felisha Hano deserved a 10 too on that floor smh. Grace deserved a 9.925 come on. The way i see it, if the judges score like that for Oklahoma they should have no roblem scoring like that for UCLA on floor because they had amazing performances in that rotation
I was in the audience at this meet
Margzetta's floor score is so low!😡😡
Thank you
The perfect 10 ucla is 1 of the ways from judges to cover up their cheated
the judging for this meet was biased and that is a disgrace.
Why isn’t Maggie doing the all around? Injury?
Bruised heel
ROOOOOOBBED !!!!!
wow those beam judges on UCLA tho.... i mean that was too obvious they didnt want ucla to win lol that was just ugly
OU, National Champions… again...
@@breatherboy6046 it won't last
@@mariam__x Well... I suppose nothing lasts forever. However, ride a good horse as long as you can.
Holly Rowe pronunciation issues is gold.
I’m all for OU, but I agree, this scores are unbelievable. I mean a 9.875 for Kyla Ross? There’s no way. This scores are rigged
Brenna deserved the 10 on bars that Kyla got on VT. I love Kyla, but that was not a 10.00 VT.
sooners team not very diverse. ucla unfairly scored too low by the judges. I'm unabashedly a bruins fan.
Кайла Росс сделала бревно на 9,975. Почему занизили оценку. Подсудили Оклахоме
Over-homa spooners VS UCunderscored bruins 😂
OU - National Champions…Ucla - 3rd...
great girls
Everyone on UCLA got absolutely ROBBED! UCLA did so so so much better, Okla was favored and it shows.
Can someone explain y guys get to wear leotards and pants yet the females look like they're going to the pool? (This is a legit question)
it's more practical, it allows them to move faster since it's so tight and it's because pants could hide mistakes. so basically it's easier to see their feet and legs and it's also more practical
Много экспресси, дергания и вихляния, но мало элегантности, женственности и чувства меры во всех вольных упражнениях. Акробатика отличная!
Should've known when I saw Lehrmann on vault lmao
Ok, so, here’s the thing...NCAA should start rewarding difficulty as well as artistry, rules have to change immediately! Example; just because a gymnast went viral, does not mean at all that judges have to give her 10’s every time, yes I am speaking about Ohashi, don’t get me wrong, she’s amazing, but most of her passes are not difficult. This seems very political to me.
Justin Time I agree, totally.
Justin Time lol that’s right, I’m OU fan! But it’s going to be exciting to watch them battle in finals
We don't want NCAA to reward difficulty. Most of these gymnasts come from the elite world, where the skills are very taxing on their bodies. When they come to college they want to water down their routines and just have fun with gymnastics again.
mariam sweetie life’s never easy, and at this age their bodies are stronger
@Justin TimeThe top 4 compete for the title. Instead of "Super six" they are calling it "4 on the floor". I bet LSU will also be there.
Ucla won this meet. So sick of ok being ridiculously overscored
UCLA was so underscored omg what a joke 😂
Sorry Kyla’s vault wasn’t a ten
i agree, but i think her floor should have been one and on beam she was really underscored
an na totally agreed
Its one of the ways from jugdes to cover up their cheated
