I've been playing Octobrush since Splatoon 2 since I've always found it to be a really fun weapon archetype, and it's almost painful how much better tri-slosher is in comparison to it in Splatoon 3 after I picked it up. Even though suction bomb/zipcaster is a somewhat ideal kit for Octobrush, the weapon itself is incredibly inconsistent and has a few irksome weaknesses it shouldn't have. The ink flicks have rng in terms of where they go, and there isn't very many of them, plus they have damage falloff which lends to a poor kill time and only average painting ability. You don't even get a paint flick on your crosshair half the time, which makes its already poor range even less reliable. Ended up playing a lot more sloshing machine (during the short time that was meta ") and slosher deco (after machine points per special was increased) during this time as I had good aim for my level given the weapons I picked and it played a similar play style. Once MPU was released I went right back to my beloved L3 and Bamboozler but it's a good lesson that even if it hurts a bit, you gotta let go of your mains when you're serious
I kinda know how you feel about roller zorconic. a while back I used to play a lot of dualie squelchers mainly due to the fact that I love dailies and that I could abuse tenta missiles (yeah I was that kind of person). when splatoon 3 came out I played a lot of dualie squelchers and even got 4 stars on it ,until I noticed that overtime I wasn't playing very constantly with the weapon. so I decided to switch to another weapon that I was very interested in and played since splatoon 1. The 52 gal! and I never really put it down since!
Went through this kind of recently with Letras, felt like they started to hold me back despite them being aggressive. So I tried some options and finally settled on Enperry Splat Dualies as my second main weapon. Been doing a lot better than I used to after dropping Letras. =P
I've kind of had the opposite issue. I started this game on Hydra, I actually got it to 4 1/2 stars before I started contemplating other weapons (extremely odd for me). But for as long as the game's been out, I've been between a temp main and the Heavy and Deavy / other splatlings. Splatlings -> Slosher -> Splatlings - > Splat Brella -> Splat Roller -> Splatlings -> Ttek -> Splash -> Splatlings, so on and so forth. I've only recently come to terms with the idea of just sticking to what I know and enjoy, and have been slowly covering up my "frontline" gears to be better for the slight adjustments between weapons (ie a different hat for deavy for spu), which has helped my itch to keep stretching my pool too thin :)
imo it's not always worth it to switch to a better weapon , there's probably weapons/kits with currently untapped potential 🤔. there's been things before that people only eventually realized were good, like nautilus (or like jet squelcher in S2 because i had been maining it and always thought it was extremely good and well it did end up being meta at the end) i say this with even if i know that there's a good chance i am wrong atm!
I’m X rank octobrush player, and while I have been really good at the weapon itself and having fun, I have seen that lots of weapons are good against octobrush, therefor I may switch to something recommended in the video, thank you.
Well... I think i'm weird but at the beginning i played splat dualies, to switch to nautilus (ok) to ballpoint (consistent) to dynamo (??? 😂) To wiper deco and S blast and carbon deco. And nautilus again. And recently 52'gal So i really think my main is nautilus but i don't feel that i'm very useless with an other weapon, even if it's completly different. (Lol i'm not good with all weapons, i don't even buy brushes and i rarely play snipers and never shooters except 52'gal)
as someone who used to main carbon roller and mini splating i was losing all the time in rank (A+) then i switched to the luna blaster neo and been getting high kill low death ratio games and winning most the time yeah i lose like once or twice but then boom im winning again.
And this is why I stick to Turf War, I am the most dedicated base .96 Gal player and I refuse to let anything stop me from having fun, so thanks for reassuring me on my decision to stay 5.000 feet away from Ranked….no seriously thanks I kept arguing with myself on if I should play it or not.
Though I main Inkbrush. If brushes are one of the weapon classes that are more Difficult to win in competitive. I will still strive to become the very best regardless like no one ever was.
Yeah, I had to drop Brellas. They’re now a “for fun” weapon, as much as it hurt to put them down. Even in solo q, you had to work so much harder to secure the win, and if anything went wrong, even if you outperformed everyone in the game, your team of food inspired named randos will all look at you. Luckily I could just pop my Brella open to avoid eye contact, but still. A weapon really can hold you back. I then switched to a barely better weapon and got into X Battles. Still low tier, but doing much better being one tier up.
Dam, thats sad there are only two good roller players out there due to the maps and meta weapons But what about the other rollers? I only know Volty and OmegaZidan for Carbon Deco (not sure if Omega is pro but he seems good) and idk who uses Flinginza and no one for Big Swig.
Personally I believe it is not the weapon that makes it awful while that is mostly the case, however it is the player job to make that weapon work for the player. I remember correctly in an Nintendo open a Japan player had made the sploosh work in two and won the open, then everyone started player sploosh. I know the team worked around the sploosh but it all comes to the player to push said weapon then the weapon being just terrible out right for it's plethora of reasons. If the under cover brellia is the worst weapon in the title and a top team from Japan is using it in their weapon select I am sure many will respect that player despite what top three weapon the opponent team is using.
Had this experience recently, even though I'm not a competitive player. Liked using the REEF-LUX for a bit, but after it got nerfed, I decided it might be a good idea to switch over to a different weapon. That's how I found my favorite weapon as of now, the Inkbrush. It worked out well, too, because I like to have a weapon I was at least somewhat familiar with in each class, and I still needed to pick a brush. Who knows what may change in the future?
I suck at most weaps, but i shine at blasters. I should really try my hand at others for other modes outside of tower control, but in this life, i'm not good at a lot of things 🤣🤣 i managed to get to S+ though as a disabled/sight impared gamer!
When the splattershot nova just realized I felt like that would be my main for the entirety of the game but after 5 star it and getting 827 victories with it, i started noticing that i was pretty held down by it, and that made me really sad, but out of nowhere i started to gain interest on the S-blast and now i prodly saying that i am in love with that weapon and i fell much more confident in myself at winning games with it ( 4 star s blast with 150 victories) moral of the story, pls dont be like me and waste your energy and time on nova right now its not worth it. And pls don't be afraid of changing mains if You fell held down, a change would be for the better
The problem I find with switching to tri slosher is that it doesn’t like using ninja squid because it has tacticooler which makes it sort of pointless. Idrk how to apply pressure on the opponent while finding openings to get picks without ninja squid tho
As an octobrush and splattershot main i rly feel sad cuz octobrush is my fav weapon and i don't wanna force myself into other weapon when octobrush already fits me the best. Im trying out the vanilla dualies rn cuz its simple like splattershot but also fast and exciting like octobrush so ill see if it suits me but still, ill probably never drop octobrush cuz its just my personal fav and i enjoy the game a lot more with it
If I played competitive I probably would play ballpoint because while my main V heavy is seen as a high tier but not as high as ballpoint and Zap as a secondary a weapon i am also getting quite comfortable and unfortunately at the moment C Jet isn’t really worth pushing though for a while this won’t really matter
i refuse to believe roller is a mid class weapon class. It has dynamo roller, WHICH CAN BE USED AS A FRIGGIN LONG RANGE WEAPON WITH ITS VERTICAL SLASH! NOT TO MENTION THE DAMAGE DROPOFF ONLY HAPPENS ABOUT 4 TILES IN! I mean sure, the charge up time is outrageous, but its kit and damage make up for it. Ironically, its kit makes it a very fast weapon. The only class you have to worry about in this case are the chargers.
I play dapple dualies nouveau and play aggressive and support at times, and the dodge roll is what I really like using with it, but lately i’ve climbed the ranks with randoms and dualies are my main class, but tetra really isnt doing it for me. If anyone has any suggestions please share, or tips so that I can still use my weapon but more effectively.

Im a Tri Stringer main but it doesnt do very well in comp :') Not a ton of people know how to play with a tri stringer on their team That and the match making being pretty ass in soloq I can 1v1 fairly well with it in non-close ranged shooter situations but a lot of times my teammates... Will forget I'm around??? I dont know how to describe it They dont treat me like a charger ig I also dont strictly play as a charger since I know thats not a good playstyle for stringers, my main job is to chip damage and generally be a nuisance I dont have people to play with so I end up having issues of playing very defensively so either my teammates can get distance or fight at a bigger advantage with my toxic mist around Match making is also REALLY BAD for tri stringer at higher levels I get to a certain point in S rank and the match making has nothing for me but "oh heres a match where theres an eliter, you, a brella and then a glooga duelies, have fun!!" And then the other team is very meta oriented for some reason I had one recently where there were 2 stringers(including me), an explosher, and a vanilla jr... At S(800+) for some stupid reason and I had to play extremely offensively in a way the match making shouldnt have ever decided to do since stringers are mid-backline supportive weapons! I just want to paint my teammates feet and help them skirmish other players so they have a better chance of landing their kills 😭
I used to absolutely DESPISE tri in 2. It was annoying, broken, and every single negative thing in the book for me. I used to main squiffer, but now here I am, a Tri main.
1:38 truly countless (i can only count to 1)
Volty is also notable for Roller Deco.. but yeah Roller fell off due to maps pretty hard.
gus is goated for helping Zoronic though
I somewhat have this same problem but with carbon deco. but on some occasion i switch to ttek or wiper
I’m X rank octobrush player, and while I have been really good at the weapon itself and having fun, I have seen that lots of weapons are good against octobrush, therefor I may switch to something recommended in the video, thank you.
you did NOT have to put blaster in the thumbnail 😭 broke my heart, i was a day 1 range player
So, if i want to try the new off-meta weapons I enjoy I need an entire group of friends to play them properly, got it.
*Plays Limbus Company*.
This is why you'll never see me do competitive splatoon that's for sure
plot twist : the dog gets the card
Defined by what they need living in those avatars.
This is mad off topic but the way my jaw dropped when i saw myself in this video 😭 that made me realize how small the splatoon comp community is
5:35 minecraft music though
Well... I think i'm weird but at the beginning i played splat dualies, to switch to nautilus (ok) to ballpoint (consistent) to dynamo (??? 😂) To wiper deco and S blast and carbon deco. And nautilus again. And recently 52'gal
So i really think my main is nautilus but i don't feel that i'm very useless with an other weapon, even if it's completly different. (Lol i'm not good with all weapons, i don't even buy brushes and i rarely play snipers and never shooters except 52'gal)
cant believe purple prochara just dropped a new video
"Hey wake up the Zorcronic vid is here--"
"You mean Zorconic...."
"NO the Zorc........."
"......just watch their fucking videos"
My main is Flingza Roller, and I'm EXTREMELY competitive and it works scaringly well for me on most maps
By extremely competitive I mean I love getting a lot of kills 😭 I recently got 15 in casual turf war
I had the same issue with flingza and I knew it was time to change I just didn't know what to pick till now
GUSSSSSSSSS ❤️
as someone who used to main carbon roller and mini splating i was losing all the time in rank (A+) then i switched to the luna blaster neo and been getting high kill low death ratio games and winning most the time yeah i lose like once or twice but then boom im winning again.
This video is pretty much identical to how I felt switching from hydra to naut
I went from a Tenta Brella main to a Vanilla Slosher main so I don't know WHAT happened 🤣
Ah yes the og Splat 1 Splattershots, Tasabi and VTek
Had this experience recently, even though I'm not a competitive player. Liked using the REEF-LUX for a bit, but after it got nerfed, I decided it might be a good idea to switch over to a different weapon. That's how I found my favorite weapon as of now, the Inkbrush. It worked out well, too, because I like to have a weapon I was at least somewhat familiar with in each class, and I still needed to pick a brush. Who knows what may change in the future?
0:20 feels so weird to hear lmaooo
I suck at most weaps, but i shine at blasters. I should really try my hand at others for other modes outside of tower control, but in this life, i'm not good at a lot of things 🤣🤣 i managed to get to S+ though as a disabled/sight impared gamer!
otherside started playing and made me smile :)
im just here for the doggo at the end :)
We need a bouncy house Castle that provides extra protection and good high ground
Bouncy castle map would unironically go hard
Bruh i changed from a octobrush main to a explosher main which is really strange looking back
Don’t forget Volty on the Carbon Deco
He called Tentatek, Wasabi
I don't know if it's normal
The problem I find with switching to tri slosher is that it doesn’t like using ninja squid because it has tacticooler which makes it sort of pointless. Idrk how to apply pressure on the opponent while finding openings to get picks without ninja squid tho
dear zorconic,
relatable af
sincerely,
an octobrush user
WAOH BRO UR USEING MINECRAFT MUSIC IN A SPLATOON VIDEO!?!?!?!?!? (I love it)
As an octobrush and splattershot main i rly feel sad cuz octobrush is my fav weapon and i don't wanna force myself into other weapon when octobrush already fits me the best. Im trying out the vanilla dualies rn cuz its simple like splattershot but also fast and exciting like octobrush so ill see if it suits me but still, ill probably never drop octobrush cuz its just my personal fav and i enjoy the game a lot more with it
Volty from alliance rouge plays carbon roller a lot
I used to switch weapons all the time but i think I've settled on machine and nautilis
If I played competitive I probably would play ballpoint because while my main V heavy is seen as a high tier but not as high as ballpoint and Zap as a secondary a weapon i am also getting quite comfortable and unfortunately at the moment C Jet isn’t really worth pushing though for a while this won’t really matter
is last ditch effort, ninja squib, drop roller, and a hodgepodge of abilites stupid? because it feels well for me. 😅
i refuse to believe roller is a mid class weapon class.
Dynamo would be good if it could paint consistently, honestly that’s its only major flaw right now that’s holding it back from being used
@@mashedspud fair, fair.
touche
I play dapple dualies nouveau and play aggressive and support at times, and the dodge roll is what I really like using with it, but lately i’ve climbed the ranks with randoms and dualies are my main class, but tetra really isnt doing it for me. If anyone has any suggestions please share, or tips so that I can still use my weapon but more effectively.
Maybe try carbon roller?
YEAHHH!!
Gus: when I first met snorkel-
I seem to suck ass with inkbrush, but idk if i need to switch to octobrush, or if i just need to git gud lmao
What a cute dog!
Great video
1:18
boyfriend jumpscare (jah #1 !!!!!)
but othr than tht , i remembered whn i 1st started gettig in2 splatoon (almost a yr of playibg thnks 2 jah :] !) n even tho i wantd 2 paint mostly , i ended up picking ... charger :,D
i had NO resultz frm tht which made mi Sad but luckily jah got mi out of tht real fast n put me on shooters !! i main neo splash n ive been seeig a lot more results which maykes mi rlly happie >w
Well clearly if your not winning with roller enough then that means your Wi-Fi is too good like roller is bettr then splash and ballpoint when you go to Macdonald to play splatoon
i was range blaster but switched to splatana wiper
Banger vid
Im a Tri Stringer main but it doesnt do very well in comp :')
Not a ton of people know how to play with a tri stringer on their team
That and the match making being pretty ass in soloq
I can 1v1 fairly well with it in non-close ranged shooter situations but a lot of times my teammates... Will forget I'm around???
I dont know how to describe it
They dont treat me like a charger ig
I also dont strictly play as a charger since I know thats not a good playstyle for stringers, my main job is to chip damage and generally be a nuisance
I dont have people to play with so I end up having issues of playing very defensively so either my teammates can get distance or fight at a bigger advantage with my toxic mist around
Match making is also REALLY BAD for tri stringer at higher levels
I get to a certain point in S rank and the match making has nothing for me but "oh heres a match where theres an eliter, you, a brella and then a glooga duelies, have fun!!" And then the other team is very meta oriented for some reason
I had one recently where there were 2 stringers(including me), an explosher, and a vanilla jr... At S(800+) for some stupid reason and I had to play extremely offensively in a way the match making shouldnt have ever decided to do since stringers are mid-backline supportive weapons!
I just want to paint my teammates feet and help them skirmish other players so they have a better chance of landing their kills 😭
I guess I might have to drop base roller in my team :/
sees luna blaster
drools
I used to absolutely DESPISE tri in 2. It was annoying, broken, and every single negative thing in the book for me. I used to main squiffer, but now here I am, a Tri main. I used to main octobrush in 2. Now I main inkbrush. Mains change, and thats perfectly fine. No shame in dropping a weapon if it just doesn't make you happy anymore.
bro really missed aerospray in the most common weapons
i love roller but i wish carbon deco wasn't the only viable one
What weapon i can use to substitute Dynamo Roller????gold dynamo is meh and vanilla suck
hi ! im a heavy splatling main but i feel like in these top rank,,, my heavy do not feel as great as he was before,,, i mean,,, i still splat for like,,, 20 people in the average,, but we always end up to lose anyway,, and even if when my team got litterally 0 kill and died 18 time,,, i can understand that i was just unlucky with my teammate,, but when my whole team is good and that i kill over 20 people and we end up to lose anyway,,, i feel like i have to actually move on and change my main,,, but i have no idea what to choose,, i tried ballpoint but its way too different to play,,,,
idk maybe I'm wrong but i hate that people can't have fun with there main anymore, because everyone talks about cp and how you have to pick this weapon or that weapon to play the game
As a Octobrush main I find it had to play competitive with it, no im not an X rank player im an S. I tried out the splash and I was decent at it until...well..you get the gist. Does anyone have any ideas of weapons with similar playstyles as octo that are good for competitive play?
I dont know what to do about my main. I cant find a weapon im good at. My main is undercover brella which i do very well with. Im getting more into anarchy battles and i know im going to drop it to get to a higher rank. Im currently trying to become a charger main but its obviously a much different playstyle than undercover. Help
