Former Royal Chef Reveals Queen Elizabeth's Fave Birthday Cake That's Been In The Family For Years
Вставка
- Опубліковано 21 вер 2024
- Darren McGrady was the personal chef to Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Princess Diana, Prince Charles, and Princes William and Harry-a family with notoriously specific food needs-for 15 years. In 1998, he moved to the U.S.A. where he wrote best-selling cookbooks and founded Eating Royally, a fine-dining catering service based in Dallas, TX.
In the second installment of this limited series, Chef McGrady walks Delish through the royals' favorite recipes from his Dallas test kitchen...while spilling all the most glorious royal tea. We talked all things Queen Elizabeth (again!) this time around.

The tradition of the 2nd birthday was begun by her grandfather, King George V. His birthday was during the Winter when the royal family were at Sandringham. To those commenting about him using his hands, you do realise that bread is often needed by hand.
That’s completely different! Bread needs to be kneaded by hand, but using your hands to mix cake is just unnecessary. We’ve got perfectly good utensils for that! Breads, or pasta doughs rely on feel to know when it’s right, while a cake just needs to have all its ingredients incorporated.

@@sneakybeaky1588 Assuming you have the tools to bake with and also an oven. Wouldn't taste the same. Also a shitton of experience in making frosting and spongecakes, to have a perfect texture. So yeah while the ingretients are cheap usually it's more about the quality of the final product that explains its cost.
This particular cake is legit one of the recipes that, if handmade by a michelin chef, can be sold easily for 40 or even more. Perfection has a price.
There are a ton of royal cakes that would cost more than 500 for this exact reason but with way more expensive ingredients, that also require way more experience and knowledge to bring all together to perfection. The cake in this vid is quite easy to master, hence why even if perfect it looks like any storebought chocolate cake.
@@GreyPunkWolf I think you're vastly overestimating the amount of skill required to make this. Anybody who's good at baking who has a stand mixer could easily do this. Hell, I've made a similar cake by hand with a whisk when i didn't have a mixer. Buckingham palace probably has some pretty nice chocolate though.
