As a heads up, active stabilization works way better with native Sony or lenses. Try vlogging with a Sony lens over the Sigma and you should notice a difference.
I have a ZV-E1 and will also get the a7C II. I see value in having both. I wish I could remove the EVF on the a7C II altogether cause I have never been comfortable using them with my glasses. It is simply not comfortable or useful to me. So, I am one of those people who is very happy with not having those which is why I love the ZV-E1. But the 33mp on the a7C II makes it a dream camera for travel/street photography for me, while the ZV-E1 with its amazing stabilization and virtually no rolling shutter will continue to serve as my video go to.
Are you having any overheating issues. That is the reason I'm hesitant to get the ZV over the A7cII. I will be shooting in hot conditions so it's a concern.
I really don't understand these cameras marketed as vlogging cameras. Phones these days are getting so good they are just fine for vlogging when it comes to video quality. These sony cameras are good enough to shoot feature films with. I mean who needs 4:2:2 4k 10 bit color and a pro lens to film their face as they're walking around? I see these new sony cameras as mainly cinema and documentary making cameras.
I'm still going with ZV-E1, for the better lowlight, 4k60 uncropped and dynamic active stabilization (for me its a very nice thing to have, but not to use for everything)
The lack of dynamic stabilization is a big factor for me, so I'm thinking zv e1 as well. I was regaling hoping that it would be on the a7c ii because I thought it might help with the rolling shutter.
Exercise caution when digesting early reviews, especially those that seem like sponsored content from Sony. It's noted that the praised stabilization feature appears virtually identical to that of the A7iv. For a genuine evaluation, it's prudent to await insights from actual users rather than relying on day-one reviews.
Just bought an a7cii but mine arrived with what looks like smears /creases on the camera shutter curtain when I enabled dust protection when turning off the camera, is this normal? Do they sometimes come out of the factory looking like this, or is it something to worry about.
Can you test whether there is any difference in bokeh between the cameras when using a high shutter speed (1/4000) and a fast prime lens wide open in the various shutter modes? Does EFCS on the A7CII have a negative impact on bokeh? Is it smoother in full electronic on both the A7CII and ZV-E1?
I’m curious what quality difference exists between this and an iPhone 15 with log and raw? The latter is pocketable and the former needs lenses and is bulky and not convenient.
I've seen micro HDMI's brake on two different cameras over the years. However neither were my personal cameras nor was I the one who broke them. I've always used a cage and cable lock and on the personal gear no micro HDMI's damaged ...yet fingers crossed. I shoot a lot and always prefer the full size if possible but if you're very careful the micro HDMI can survive.
I owned the old a7c and didn’t like the fact that it was the 8-bit color and terrible with stability. I got the a7iv and liked it until I went travelling with it. I have now a Fuji xs20 but I’m considering the A7c ii. My only concern is the bad rolling shutter. But it looks nice.
A7cii does not support type A memory cards. But the All-i bit rate 600mb.. V90 card only 300 mbps. which card is best for A7cii ? I am little bit confused about a7iv or a7cii. Basically, I am a wedding photographer. I need both photography and cinematography. And want to shoot slog 3 600mbps bit rate.
Josh there must be something wrong with your microphone the audio is extremely sibilant. I tried watching your video with multiple dwvices Is that the SM7b? If so then the sweet spot for the mic us no more than six inches from th3 foqm windscreen at the end
I broke a mini hdmi port. I confused it the USB port and forced it I guess. Also many mini hdmi cables go bad. There are always HDMI around the house but no mini HDMI
Bundles of thanks, you described camera very well, sir i am a wedding video grapher, we need to long recording, (one hour) kindly advise this camera suitable for me, its not become hot during recording. Or Off.
Honestly, the lineup is such a mess, trying to buy Sony Camera requires a PhD in understanding what model does what... They need 4 models. Pro APSC, Consumer APSC, Pro FullFrame Consumer Full Frame. They have the FX lineup for video...
Disappointment in evf, no eye cup option, and I would have preferred a a7v type articulated screen. Also I would have taken dual micro SD card slots over a single Express type.
Everything was kosher about the a7CR, until the omission of the “4-axis” LCD screen was revealed. Both of these cameras are worthless for street & landscape photographers without a tilt screen
The mechanical shutter is for the second shutter (closing), the first is electronic. In A7IV you can switch to both mechanical, first electronic second mechanical, or full electronic.

Will do! Once I get mine (yes I preordered the A7C II) I'll throw the 16-35 f/4 PZ on it.

tbh, 4k120 AND 4k60 with Dynamic Active Stab. is a better combo than 4k60 with the asps-c mode.

facts
Camera is worth for a long term use, but phone is just a short term. Both got pros & cons👍

That camera overheats though this one does not seem to
@@ahmedeidphoto er, the overheat it's a problem for who makes long takes. For me, it's ok.

Micro HDMI is simply unacceptable for anyone serious about videography. Heck,, even my NEX5n from 2011 still has a mini HDMI port. Micro sucks.
@@mkphotofilm I survive with a6500 for 5 years. And I'm serious about videography.
Hello
I wanted to know what you think? Active dynamic stabilizer in zv e1
It is better or active stabilizer in a 7c ii?
My favorite review of the a7cii on UA-cam! Thank you

Hi, in terms of sharpness and colors for photos and videos, which one do you think is better? The Sony 7Cii or the Sony ZVE1?
Can you test whether there is any difference in bokeh between the cameras when using a high shutter speed (1/4000) and a fast prime lens wide open in the various shutter modes? Does EFCS on the A7CII have a negative impact on bokeh? Is it smoother in full electronic on both the A7CII and ZV-E1?
Great video. Incidentally, what mic or mics did you use during the walk arounds?

i'm curious what camera strap you are using here, where you click the camera onto it and let it hang upside down?
The periscope and ultra wide lens with a 1.7 aperture are great for photos of bullet trains.

Is the overheating issue better with the a7cii vs the zve1? If so, why? Same size camera.

I haven't broken an HDMI, but the ceap mini/micro to full I bought at Walmart was sagging a bit last I used it.
i was in the same position. as a hybrid shooter, i need to do photo and the zve1 just overheated while shooting b-rolls at 4k50p. had to sell that
Good video and well explained / Thanks!! Subscribed 👏
Great breakdown! Really enjoyed watching this. Your delivery and demonstrations are really easy to follow and understand! 😁
Good idea, I’ll go make a cup of tea right away! =)
...nice, practical review btw. ;)
I liked your video, Joshua. Can you give us your PP11 settings, because I liked the 'look' you created in-camera? Many thx.
Oh hey welcome to Korea!!

Thanks for the heads up, I'll make sure to put de-essers into my flow. It didn't sound too bad to me but maybe I'm just not as sensitive to it

man, couldn't get my hands on the silver color. gonna try to trade it though haha

joshua.. terry warfield is a specsheet reader UA-camr!
nice review!
W video bro nice stuff
what will be the best travel lens for this camera. no vlogging
is A7CII has dual base iso?
For slog-3 it’s 800 & 3200 on the a74 sensors
Nice video
@2.26 😂😂... so true since I do struggle similarly while taking stills on my fx30.

4K video 50p X 1.5 crop in 2023. Is Sony serious ??
BTW, iPhone shooting the same quality
not a alternative .
Everything was kosher about the a7CR, until the omission of the “4-axis” LCD screen was revealed. Both of these cameras are worthless for street & landscape photographers without a tilt screen
People have been doing street photography for 100 years without a tilt screen. Non-issue.
@@-AtomsPhere- Leica even understands what the “tilt-screen” brings to the equation and that is why you see it now on all of their street cameras
I really thought the shutter was some kind of electronic first curtain, and NOT a REAL mechanical shutter!!
The mechanical shutter is for the second shutter (closing), the first is electronic. In A7IV you can switch to both mechanical, first electronic second mechanical, or full electronic.
