Happy holidays my friends!! 🎁 I can't believe Winter is already here, but I'm so ready for it. ☃️ I hope you enjoy this gift guide for campers. Let me know if you have any questions in the comments below.
My husband and I are 28 and we love going to estate and yard sales. There is nothing more exiting than digging through people's cabinets and finding a beautiful BSR or Griswold
Yay top 110 comments. Love this content. Best to you and your family. Happy Wednesday. Yes, there are people who are into collecting antique cast iron. I know I would if I could use it. I have a cast iron pan, a small one, somewhere that I tried to use once and I didn't do it right. I also have a cast iron teapot that I don't use - and probably won't ever use - it only serves as a door prop. However, I would definitely, at least once in my life, use a cast iron iron for pressing clothes.
That's awesome! I recently got a smaller Griswold cast iron pan found in my grandfathers house. It's so cool that the cast iron is something that lasts and can be used for generations.
Vintage cast iron collecting is fun. I like the idea about cooking on something 100 years old and someone could be cooking with it in 100 years from now.
Just a little trick I picked up, that could make a nice gift. I like to add a flying disc (Frisbee) to my camp kit. It can at as a cutting board, a plate, shallow bowl, entertainment as well as a host of other things. They don't take up a bunch of room and even light enough to use while backpacking.
I have a couple decks of water proof cards, and Uno card set (waterproof) because spills and wet weather happens. One of the best stocking stuffers I got, was a great headlamp! My fiends laughed at me when I cracked it out the first few trips, but being hands free to go the bathroom late at night or walking the dog - amazing. They are now converts and have their own so they can be hands free.
Waterproof cards would be awesome. I never even knew that was a thing! I agree that a headlamp is always useful and would be a great gift idea to add to the list. Thanks for watching!
@@amanda.outside omg, waterproof cards are a must now. With kids, it is a given, but we had an adults only trip with torrential rain one day - all day under a canopy, and waterproof cards saved the day. EVERYTHING was damp and the cards wiped up nice and clean after.
This was just great and thanks for the product links. I am immediately going to the lightweight hoodie site. I’ve wanted one of those for a while and now you’ve provide the link. So many good ideas. Thanks again.
I sooooo love your channel! I’m so happy I found it this year. I’m an avid car camper and love to see how others do it. I managed to camp 30 times this year and have been camping for 35 years and am still perfecting my kit lol never enough camping gear lol
That's awesome!! I too am always learning and perfecting my camping gear kit and the way I do things. Thanks for watching and I'm so glad you're enjoying the videos. Welcome to the channel!
Hey Amanda. I want to take my 7 year old daughter camping with me this upcoming summer. Could you please talk to your friends that are parents and see what brand of clothing they recommend for children that are camping?
Thanks for the idea of constellation playing cards. I also watched your food video and I think this one is newer? Your commenting was much smoother and the video quality is amazing. Great and thank you.
You're welcome! I do have an Amazon store, but I haven't updated it yet with the gift guide items. I did link to everything in the description of the video though. My store is: amazon.com/shop/amandaoutside Thank you so much for your support!
The fleece with the fun pattern is from Patagonia. I got it a few years ago, so I don't think the pattern is still available, but they come out with new designs every season!
I actually don't use any special conditioner for the cast iron, but if I use water to wash the pan, then I always thoroughly dry it and rub something like avocado oil on it right away. I'm not sure if that's the best option haha but that's what I've been doing! So glad you love the videos. Thank you for watching!
I would honestly appreciate and use anything on this list. These are all definitely must haves, Great video ! Personally I've been wanting to splurge on a nice cooler for years now
Hello Amanda! I have recently found your channel and have been binge watching your videos! 🤗 I’m a novice car camper. For your yeti cooler, do you use the yeti ice packs? If so, do the packs keep food cool for at least a day? I am interested in hearing about food preservation while camping. Thank you!
I don't remember which video it is but she mentions they freeze water in 1gal jugs to keep the cooler cold and gives them extra water at the campsite for cooking and drinking as it melts. Trust me, I love the idea and plan to start using it.
Hey Amanda! Which model of the binoculars do you have, Vortex Optics - Diamondback 8x42 or the Vortex Optics Crossfire 12x50 Binoculars? I’m having trouble deciding! I am interested in them for wildlife viewing and birding. Thank you!
Hi there! You may have answered this in a previous video, but what backpack(s) do you like for day hikes? Great video and recommendations! My family loves bananagrams, but I never thought to take it camping. Cribbage is our go-to camping game.
Love cast iron but not for camping, too heavy even though I car/tent camp I try to go lighter. If you don’t like nonstick, go for carbon steel, just like cast iron once is seasoned but way lighter, as far as tableware I go for Fozzils or GSI camping set again packs very small (got to save room for my 3 dogs lol). Check them out. Nice video, thanks.👍🏻
Hi Amanda.... Nice Fjällräven Övik heavy flannel shirt! :) It's a best seller.... :) looks great!!! Got one for Annika...for Xmas! :) BTW... pronounced: Fjällräven (F-Ya'll-Raven) :) You should totally try the Fjällräven Trekking Tights, best outdoor tights made! :)
Great stuff! I have never heard of the Capilene stuff until you started talking about it. I'm definitely going to get some. I hope they make hats as well!
Yea it's a pretty interesting material. It kind of feels like a soft silk and it dries really fast, which I love for hot summer hiking. I hope you like it!
I watched your fire starter video before (great idea). I was a bit curious about the lint: which has (likely does if you wash a lot of synthetics) a lot of microplastics. Do you think cotton balls would work as well?
I've heard of cotton balls covered in vaseline as great fire starter.....gonna do toilet paper lint rolls this week as going camping next weekend... are these not a good idea??
I actually only exclusively cook on cast iron even in my home. Non stick is definitely not good for your health i currently have on my stove as we speak 5 cast iron pans from a 6 in all the way to a 12.5 and 2 dutch ovens theres just better flavor cooking on cast iron
I've actually been testing a taco soup recipe for camping! In general, I don't eat a lot of soup, but I do love taco soup and I think it would make a great camping dinner in the dutch oven.
@@amanda.outside Thanks! I didn't know if it was a bad idea to cook liquid-y food either because of the mess while at camp or because of more maintenance (higher frequency of seasoning).

My brother has a ton of old cast iron pans and skillets. I was fortunate I got my grandmother and great grandmothers cast iron. Not all but a lot.
That's awesome! I recently got a smaller Griswold cast iron pan found in my grandfathers house. It's so cool that the cast iron is something that lasts and can be used for generations.

Me too! I often wonder who cooked on my pan 100 years ago and what their life was like. I think it's so cool!
Great ideas, the coffee set-up is very cool,Awesome, thmx for the helps 😇

Thank you for this guide! Do you have an Amazon store we can shop from?

where is the fleece. pullover you are wearing in the cut aways from? I love it !

Happy holiday's to you and yours. Thank you so much for your list. The shirt and the cast pan scrubber are going to be brought. Thanks for all you do
Great video. For the dutch oven, is that a cobbler you baked in it? It looks delicious, could you share the recipe? Many thanks
You looking good Amanda. Good Video
Just found your channel - and even though we are a family of four, and will probably always stay in campgrounds, I am getting a lot of hints! Thanks!
Love your videos!!! What kind of conditioner do you use on your cast iron?

Those are great gift ideas 👍 The Yeti Mug is a must have!
I agree! I even use them everyday at home now!
I would honestly appreciate and use anything on this list. These are all definitely must haves, Great video ! Personally I've been wanting to splurge on a nice cooler for years now
In Australia we call the Dutch oven a camp oven.
I believe I might have to gift myself one of the shirts haha
Man I got scared you were going to drop that cast iron lid in your shin. Awesome recovery 😅

You can always get a refrigerated cooler! If you’re going to spend all that on a yeti, might as well just spend the extra for the fridge.
This is such a good list! I love those playing cards
Mmmm.. banana game.. sounds good. :)
Hey Amanda! Which model of the binoculars do you have, Vortex Optics - Diamondback 8x42 or the Vortex Optics Crossfire 12x50 Binoculars? I’m having trouble deciding! I am interested in them for wildlife viewing and birding. Thank you!
Funny close call with the Dutch oven. You should recommend steel toed boots too! I like the astronomy cards. Thanks for the video!!
Yea that lid would have done some damage! Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching!
Bardzo fajne , przydatne propozycje :) !!!
Pozdrowienia z Polski ;) !
Merry Christmas Love your videos!
Merry Christmas to you!
Hi where is that cool green flannel from?
Hi there! You may have answered this in a previous video, but what backpack(s) do you like for day hikes? Great video and recommendations! My family loves bananagrams, but I never thought to take it camping. Cribbage is our go-to camping game.
I currently have the Osprey Sirrus 24 for day hiking and I think it's really comfortable!
cast iron is awesome!
It's really is!

Thanks for all the gift ideas! I know this is off topic, but what boots are you wearing in this video?
They're the vivobarefoot tracker boots. I linked to them in the description too! I love them!
Lol I collect antique cast iron. We have some skillets that are about 100 years old.
You have some amazing videos. If you would ever want to try any of our products, please let us know!

The hydroflask wine bottle seems intriguing...how it is different than a regular hydroflask?
I think the difference is just the shape. It's shaped more like a wine bottle and a little easier to pour.
@@amanda.outside thank you!
you killed 65 Italians with that pour over technique
I collect antique cast iron as well
Yay!! Good to know I'm not the only one here who love cast iron 😁
I actually only exclusively cook on cast iron even in my home. Non stick is definitely not good for your health i currently have on my stove as we speak 5 cast iron pans from a 6 in all the way to a 12.5 and 2 dutch ovens theres just better flavor cooking on cast iron
Hello Amanda I'm a new subscriber saw your nitecore flashlight , check out nitecore flashlight mh12s
I collect cast iron too!
Yes!! Good to know I'm not alone 😁
Have you done a video on headlamps?
No not yet! I have a Black Diamond ReVolt headlamp and a Black Diamond Spot. I like to keep one in each of my backpacks.
Do you ever cook soup in the Dutch oven or only bake in it (incl. nachos)? Or maybe soup is never in your camp meal repertoire?
I've actually been testing a taco soup recipe for camping! In general, I don't eat a lot of soup, but I do love taco soup and I think it would make a great camping dinner in the dutch oven.
@@amanda.outside Thanks! I didn't know if it was a bad idea to cook liquid-y food either because of the mess while at camp or because of more maintenance (higher frequency of seasoning).
Use quart or gallon freezer bags if you don't want to drop $50 on stasher bags
What shoes are you wearing in this video?
They're the Tracker boots by Vivobarefoot. I love them!
do you use a certain open fire grill when cooking with your cast iron pan? ty! love your vids. 👍🏼
Your hair has gotten so long! 🤩
I have been growing it out! Thanks for noticing 😁
Oh and of course fabulous gift ideas Amanda, I love to give new water bottles or insulated coffee mugs to friends always handy gifts
I play banana grams in the dirt! Just sayin'
My kids need to watch this video...just saying..lol. I just dont want them to spend the money on yeti!
