Nice looking lathe. This should work well for you guys. I'm curious what the diameter of the tool post is. I'd hope it's 1". The only complaint I've heard of these Nova lathes is the music that plays each time you start it. It would be nice to know if you can shut this off, etc. but it's far from a deal breaker. I look forward to your full review after you've had a chance to put it through its paces.

Thanks Greg. The posts are 1 inch.. I’m going to find out about the music. If I can’t turn it off, I will just power it on when I first get to the shop.

The 22.5 degree rotation is great for getting in to pieces with the stock tool rest. It makes getting in there easy as you don't have to lay over the bed and have the tailstock in the way. For 220V, I'd use a conversion cable instead of cutting the end of the cord.

I have a Nova Saturn DVR which is pretty much the short bed version of the Genisis. I've had this lathe for over 10 yrs now and the day is very rare that this lathe doesn't do some spinning. It is still ultra quiet and very smooth. I'm sold on the Nova's. The only thing I don't like is the on-off bubble switches. Good luck with your new toy!

Thanks! I have an older Nova that is ok, but without many of the features the new lathe has. Looks like they improved a number of features that were lacking before. I like the remote feature, but wish they had a continuous speed adjustment, not 100s and 5s. How much effort does the spindle lock take? My old one has a pretty stiff spring that requires quite a bit of strength to lift and release.

My old jet is 40 1/4” to spindle center (and I’m 5’ 10”) would love to hear how comfortable it is or isn’t with that 44” or 46” height. It’s the only thing holding me back from pulling the trigger (and I don’t think I want to build a platform to adjust for the much higher spindle height)
