Thank you pickleruby (my heart-niece is picklelily, I wonder if you're related?😂), I've found that sharing things like these inevitably brings me new friends or helps someone who needed to hear something I said. That's not vulnerability, that's one of my 'mundane superpowers'. The other is not losing odd socks. Hope you're having a great week 😁
Yes Derri! Going Postal is brilliant! Not only do we feel the same about RotE, but discwork too 😄. This was a great chat, I've cut down on watching as much booktube as I used too in favour of actually reading books, but I enjoyed your chat very much, thank you both. 🙂
The lovely Derri 😊 Thank you both for a wonderful discussion. I love this community too and even though I’m mostly ‘on the side’, it brings me so much comfort. Derri - about to start Fool’s Errand 😉
Darling Vero! It's always lovely to encounter you lurking in the comments or the chat and you aren't 'on the side' at all. You're allowed to simply exist in this space. 😘
@@derrisreaditbefore sending big hugs!!! Watched the entire video by now. Fantastic interview 🥰 loved to learn more about you! Hope you have an amazing weekend!!!
I'm so glad I caught this great discussion, I've not been keeping up with booktube as much recently but this was great, thanks to both. Also it's great to hear that not only do Derri and I feel the same way about RotE (which I knew already) , but our preferences in discworld are aligned too, Going Postal is brilliant.
Moist rapidly became a top tier character for me. Have you seen the BBC adaptation? It's my second favourite (after Troll Bridge which you can find on YT), and it has Charles Dance as Vetinari - he's sheer perfection, and Clare Foy as Adorabelle - she's fabulous.
Team replay (even if it shouldn't have had to be, ugh). This was everything I was hoping it would be, and then so much more. Derri is truly a big ray of sunshine in the community, and I am so happy to hear how beneficial this little bookish found family has been to her mental health. Also, I had no idea she'd had a stroke so early in life, that is a crazy story! 🥲 Love all the Hobb, Pratchett and DCC love! You two are almost as dangerous as John when it comes to making me excited to read something. I don't have audible so I can't listen to DCC but I think I might just do an eyeball read because the FOMO is killing me hahah Thanks for the fun, that one for the road got me all in my feels. You two are GEMS 🥰🥰🥰
I've said it before and I'll say it again Esmay, you're part of the family. YOU are absolutely a part of my mental health journey over the last few years, and if I can bring you even a modicum of joy by sharing - I will. As for eyeballing DCC, it's great - don't get me wrong, but get the audio from your library. It's so incredibly much better.
@@derrisreaditbefore Don't mind me getting misty-eyed over here. Even though I have been a lurker on your channel for most of the time, I hope you know how much I respect and appreciate you. Thanks for all the joy 🥰 And if only my stupid Dutch library system had DCC... I really have no way of listening to it and it makes me so sad hahah. But glad to ehar you still think an eyeball read will be enjoyable ☺
I've tried reading Robin Hobb multiple times since the series began almost 30 years ago. I've never made it through the first book once. And yet so many people are gushing across UA-cam, I'm thinking about giving it another go.
oh, please do 🙏 The name is the biggest problem I think - it's the exact opposite of what the title suggests (an exciting mission filled violence fest with training montages), so it's key to know that what you'll get is a slow (glacial) paced character study coming of age that draws you in until you simply must keep going. PLEASE let us know if you do re-visit Assassin's Apprentice.
Hi Heidi 😄ah, the joy of having to juggle more than just your own life. Thank goodness I've grown out of that phase of life! Hugely flattered that you choose to spend some of your precious time with us, plus, reading is a hobby that no-one can disparage a parent for having - we're role-modelling great behaviour!
@@heidi6281 No pressure, if it's not your thing it's just not your thing. Buut, if it's a question of maybe not the right time? I 100% think a second attempt is worth it 😁
What is happening on book tube this week sad episode of town square and this episode of Bell toll was quite moving lol Derri as someone who wants to try discworld I have never had any clue of where to start so of books I have tried didn’t really make sense to me but now I found you you seem like the queen of discworld and I tried first Robin Hobb book thought it was quite boring but hearing you talk about it makes me wonder if I should try again Good chat I don’t have a channel but I watch all these interviews
Thank you for being so open and vulnerable in this conversation. So refreshing. Two bright lights!
Thank you so much!

Had to restrain myself from starting a ROTE reread here and now 😅 soon though!
DO IT MITCH! Or.... maybe not, it's you. Will you promise to re-read it in order? 😉

HI! Haven't seen you in a while Dubbs, but my lack of content is probably the reason, lovely to see you 😄
What a gift!
Thank you!

What a lovely chat! Derri has a new subscriber so full of positive energy great to see :)

fiiiiinnnne... :) At least make it something good like Hubba Bubba.

I'm afraid to ask what that makes the rest of the Talking Story channel staff 😟
