Yes, Shambles is the Akane show with special guest stars Kanami, MISA, Saiki and Miku. But wait! Was it really the Kanami show, because she wrote the song and played it with such forcefulness and exquisite abandon. Or was it the MISA show because without MISA, the rapturous drive of the song would be a ride on four flat tires. Or was it the Saiki show because she focused the sonic chaos into a song with melodies that could express Miku's lyrics like no other singer could. Without Saiki, Shambles might sound like a familiar instrumental. Or was it the Miku show because, damn, she wrote the lyrics, played the important rhythm parts, and added her unique brand of backup vocals that have become a defining "sixth instrument" of Band-Maid.
So exactly whose show was it? It was the Maid's show, as usual! 🤘🎀🤘Thx, Harmon!

I am waiting for the day when a brave radio DJ from a classic/hard rock or hair metal station gives a song like this from BAND-MAID a spin to interrupt the endless heard-it-before-and-sick-of-it playlist. Probably never happen, but I think the listeners may be surprised and pleased. Great review Mr. Chaos.

Man... Your analysis is also very compressed 😂 So much information and comments on the various musical moments, it seems I will have to rewatch your analysis seven times before I get everything you said 🙈

Shambles is growing in me. This is always with Band Maid. Same happened with Bestie, Choose me before that, Alone, just right now. It’s growing. More to come. Giovanni had grown immensely. Unfair game was a revelation. Anemone, one of oldies but goodies. I can cont8nue this list forever.

Great reaction and this is really an Akane song, she serves up more rolls than a high end bakery. Akane uses double kick pedals, single bass drum and four arms.

Love the reaction, it’s always great to hear someone who has knowledge in the music industry. It’s like a window is opened up and we are able to see what the artist are doing with the music that we would not otherwise. It makes the song more meaningful to many who are able to see/hear in a different light. Thanks for the insight.

Thank you for all the information. You are one of the few reactors to Band-Maid that I don't mind them stopping the song and commenting. You provide a glimpse into audio production that few, if any, do.

You get a good look at Akane's footwork during their instrumentals.

I hope you get a chance to react to "Wonderland"soon. It is not what you would consider a hard rock son by Band-Maid, but it's almost jazz-like sound shows the band's complete musical diversity. Saiki's vocal range is showcases during the song as well. "Wonderland" is among the favorites of we Maidiacs because it does show their versatility.

Since you are one of the very few reactors that would even recognize this, I'd like your opinion on whether or not Saiki's vocals were layered (multiple recordings of her vocals layered together). I understand that Miku's vocals are similar and could give the impression that Saiki's vocals were layered, but Miku's distinctive vocals are still present. Definitely not implying it would be a bad thing if they were layered. It'd just be another recording technique BM brings to the table. As if their songs weren't already complex enough, right? Thanks for another outstanding and detailed reaction.

When this first came out I remember being mildly disappointed. To me it just seemed like average Band-Maid but with great (as always) drums. It took me a few listens to really get into it and see how good it actually was (is). Basically, everything you just got and pointed out in one listen took me about five listens to appreciate. Nice work!

Check out Unfair Game. It sort of bookends Shambles quite well, particularly if you listen to Shambles THEN listen to Unfair Game right after.
