I get it's a pain in the ass to deal w kids begging for everything. Parenting requires a brain...incentivize good behavior with the 4 yo & put them both in the cart...not rocket science.

ill never forget the day i had to break a womans window with my skateboard when i was 13 cause she left her daughter in the car on a blistering hot day.. this poor senior nonna from the senior center close by was screaming for help i rushed over to see this poor kid probably no older than 3 on the verge of passing out drenched in sweat in the backseat eyes rolling back. i panicked a bit at first but she reassured me i wouldnt get in trouble for breaking the window and i did. probably 5 mins later cops and paramedics showed up. still a core memory for me over 15 years later. i stayed around for another 15 mins when comes arrived and the mom STILL didnt show up.
Edit: wow these comments got me choked up. I appreciate all the kind words

So they never found the mom? I am appalled at the negligence of parents these days. I’m sure it has always been a thing to some extent but I never heard about it if it was a thing 30-40 years ago, but it is all over the news these days! I have always thought there should be a test to avoid stupid parents! I know raising kids can be a challenge and none of them come with instructions, so it’s always a guessing game raising them, but your heart HAS to be in the game!! I want to scream at these folks to just focus people!!!! And good job to you as a 13 year old breaking that window!! You well may have saved that baby’s life!!

@@marcelbey-el1947 I completely agree! That baby deserves a parent who put its safety and comfort above anything else. She obviously is not that kind of parent. Had she come out of the liquor store and driven off, it's possible that the baby would have succumbed to heat stroke. TWO adults and a baby in the vehicle -- and both adults thought it was OK to leave it unattended. If I had been the judge I wouldn't have been so lenient on her. She doesn't deserve to keep her baby, in my opinion.

Many years ago, I was running errands and belted my infant son into his car seat. Without thinking I threw my purse and keys in the truck and closed the back door. The doors automatically locked. I was in a panic, screaming and crying. I ran into a pharmacy and yelled for help. Luckily a little tiny woman rushed to help and I had a small back window open and she was able to climb through and open the door. It was probably 5-7 minutes total but it scared me so bad. Something similar happened to me. I had twins. We had a Montana Ban, both doors locked automatically. My now ex husband had taken one of my boys into the store, while I went on the other side to get my son out of the car seat. At the time, they were 1 year old. While I was about to remove my son of his car seat, I put the keys on the floor. I looked up and saw that my now ex had left the door on the other side open. So before I could take my son out of his car seat, I said, "wait a sec baby, mommy is going to close the door on the other side". When I did, I saw that the other door on the opposite side where my son was, also closed. I started to panic , I didn't want to leave my son there alone, I started to cry in anguish and I didn't want to leave my baby in there either. I saw a person on the parking lot and ask if she could stay while I fetch my Now EX to come and help open the door. she did, thank goodness. I ran to the store, explained to my now ex husband what had happened and he called a lock smith. He was the only one that had a cell phone at the time. The locksmith didn't take long to arrive. He unlocked the door and didn't charge us at all. I just ran and held my baby boy while feeling like the worst mother on the planet. Today they are now 24 yrs old both and I couldn't be any prouder of them. Always my #1 priority. I see these clips and I don't understand what goes through these women's mind?

Society is generally safe. Out of the hundreds of millions of people that exist in the country the number of cases of intentional abduction or harm to children left in vehicles is nearly zero. "what if" is a stupid thing to say because there are _always_ "what if" scenarios.
What if you leave your dog died outside unattended for an hour behind a fence and someone comes in and steals them?
What if you wear a sexy outfit in public at night and two strong and armed people sexually assault you?
What if you have a child walk 2 blocks to school or their friend's house regularly and someone abducts them in the process?
What if you leave a child in it's crib in another room for an hour and it chokes or suffocates randomly? (this _DOES_ happen)
Should all that be illegal because something unlikely _COULD_ happen? heck no. I don't understand the modern culture (this is a _NEW_ thing) of leaving children on their own for short periods of time in safe conditions. The chances of something bad happening are virtually zero, people need to stop living in constant fear and have some trust in society and the justice system.

Two of them were even single kids, maybe a year old. Kids that age are really easy to entertain, most even enjoy just looking at all the things in a store and the rest can be easily occupied for 15-20 minutes by giving them a toy (or even one of the items you want to buy). If you've got more than one child, either bring a second person or deal with it like an adult (it was your choice to have a child, after all). There's no excuse for this!

I carry small, printed signs with me for those who leave their dogs locked in hot cars. Once, I had to confront one of them. Believe it or not, he got defensive. They always say the same thing, "I was only gone a few minutes." Well, a LOT can happen in a "few minutes." In CA, it's against the law to leave your pets locked in a car, even with the windows cracked, which, on a hot day or even cooler days, does not help much over periods of time. The police can break your car windows and arrest you. The dogs I saw were sightings that happened before they passed the new laws about this. Luckily, I've never seen a child alone in a car, running or otherwise, but I know I would most definitely do something.

I’m 38 years old and watching this I Just realized something about my child hood. I was raised most of my years under 18 by my great grandmother, and as a child it was so aggravating every time the car stopped I had to get out and go in with me if you post to pay for gas, run in and pick up a drink, anything whatsoever before I would say I was 12 I was never allowed to sit in the car alone for any length of time. Lol as a child I hated going in every single place cause my grandma like to shop, And honestly goodness watching this gave me the revelation of why. My great grandma was my world and I was her favorite out of her children grandchildren and great grandchildren, I was horribly abused in every way possible by my mother due to drugs and her many husbands. I never knew as a child I was supposed to be happy until I was six years old and finally got to live with my great grandma full-time instead of part-time. She never let me out of her side as a child and I understand why, it was because that’s what you do for your children. You take into account anything that could be dangerous at any moment and you prevent it. I’ll never forget when I finally knew that I was going to live with my grandma full-time instead of going back-and-forth, that night she said I’m gonna cook you anything you want son just name it, She said I asked her was she serious because I normally wasn’t allowed to eat supper, and I didn’t care what we had I just didn’t like to eat the bread with the mold on it, I told her I picked it off. My grandma was a very proud proper strong southern woman who didn’t let a lot get to her, but that was the first time I ever saw her crying she busted out crying and she hugged me and right now 32 years later I can hear every word she said, she said Son As long as there’s breath in my body, And none of my marbles have fallen out the bag, you won’t ever be hungry again, exploding vegetables you never have to eat anything you don’t like if it doesn’t taste good, as long as I promised to always know how much she loved me, how much she had felt for me, and how much she was so glad that I was there. I told her grandma all you’ve done for me I’m gonna owe you so much. As a little boy I thought I would owe her money, She said all the fighting I’ve done to get you safe and here, For all the fun we’ve ever had and all the fun we’re going to have there is no charge. Just the way God loves us and he’s happy to, is the way I love you, and that kind of love can’t be bought and that is why in life some of the finest things have no charge. I don’t know why I brought that back to me watching this I guess it just woke something from my childhood, and lol if anybody actually reads this comment I’m sorry it turned into a book but thank you. For anyone watching this video if you’re going through anything or if you’re not always know God loves you.

Let 'em sit there and listen to the radio with windows cracked. Old enough to know that if it gets hot, either open the door to let a breeze in or lock the door behind them and go in and find the parent. But kids that young? No, that's messed up. My mom took me into EVERY store until I was 10-ish and just wanted to sit where it was quiet and play Gameboy. That's one of millions of reasons why many people, including myself, are fighting to get parenting licenses legalized in the U.S., to protect kids from careless parents and be with people who have honestly sworn an oath to protect and be there for them. Nowadays there are WAY too many horrible parents, and many bad people are choosing to have kids without going through the proper training sessions due to them being a "waste of time" and a "waste of money". Children are our future, and when parents treat their kids like unwanted trash, they're pretty much killing our future. I vote YES to parenting licenses.

As he was trying to free her he was saying "Oh baby, oh baby" over and over in an agonizing voice I will never forget. What most people dont think about is just how often cops see kids and people in situations that are dire. Sure that night on I95 was a horrible night for me but it was just another wreck in a career of responding to situations like it for the Trooper. They pull dumb teens out of wrecks, drunks out of wrecks after they have killed someone, raped women, murdered victims, molested children and every other dark side of human existence there is. It really surprises me just how much cops are able to keep from blowing their tops when they see kids in hot cars or teens racing down the road at 100mph+. They do an ugly job and for it they receive so much negativity its ridiculous. Personally I dont think theres a way to compensate someone for all the bad things cops see in their careers, money sure isnt enough

I was a manager at a restaurant i my hometown when my children were 6 and 2 years old. I got a call, while I was working my evening shift, that my wife at the time was being arrested in our Walmart parking lot because a customer had seen how drunk she was, with our 2 children, and attempted to drive away with them. I got there, after calling my district manager to come finish my shift, and my little 2 year old daughter was in a diaper that had so much pee in it that it must've weighed 5 pounds and my 6 year old son was trying to be so brave in the face of his mom obviously going to jail. I had given her multiple chances to not have the worst happen. I tried so hard. Needless to say, my kids live with me now. My dad lives with us to help out. I always swore that my children wouldn't come from a broken family like I did. I learned that despite what you may will into existence, the wrong person can prevent that from happening and inadvertently try to ruin your life. Be careful who you choose to bring children into this world with. You can never know for sure, but at least try.

    • @0neMoreTime.
      @0neMoreTime. 3 місяці тому +1

I read that " temperatures typically can rise 20 degrees in 10 minutes " from an article. So if the average temperature in Florida is ~80 F, and an AC can get a vehicle ~30 F cooler. if we do 20 * 3 = 60 F, and 10 * 3 = 30 minutes (the time the kids were left) then after the 'mother' left, the car could have gotten up to 100 F.
      80 F (starting temp) - 30 F (AC temp) = 50 F (car temp before the 'mother' left) + 60 F (the amount on temp the inside of a car can get in 30 min) = ~100 F (the possible temp inside the car - / +)
