@@hello_i_exist_uwu the expert levels are definitely better imo, not sure about gm since i haven't played those. i think sj has fewer bad or average maps than sc 2020 though
With easily over 2.5K deaths the first time I did farewell, a lot of hand cramps, regret over playing with a keyboard, and several breaks in-between, farewell was one of the most entertaining and fun things I have ever done in a video game. I can't wait for Windy to do farewell (the sub-chapter) again for the moon berry and 100% the game.
Then you can set a reasonable goal like golden berries for 1/2a and/or the winged golden and/or the first few c sides.
That's how I ended up nickel and strawberrying myself to 190 berries (could be 192 if I didn't start school up again before I got them)

Yeah 1.1k is insane. Posted that I got 3.6k deaths on the celeste reddit, wondering if that was good and the comments were mostly comprised of people doing 5k+. With some even going over 20k.
Going for the golden, my 2nd clear of farewell with no practice got 1.4k. And that was with knowing most rooms so 1.1k is insane to me
I will always remember this stream because it happens to be the first one I joined, being a normal viewer looking up to one of my idols. Fast forward and now I'm here working for the professional idiot, and having the misfortune of dealing with you idiots lmao.

I just started playing Celeste the other day, currently struggling through the summit. I can only imagine how hard this is, given my struggles playing. Good job, Windy!
Don't worry, you'll get it soon. I also struggled through the summit, and now im at a point where I've pretty much 100%'d the game. Bar some golden berries. Slowly making my way towards them too. As long as you have patience and time, you'll get it.

honestly ive started playing it like a month ago and had the same thought when i saw some videos. you dont actually feel the gameplay to be as hard as when you watch because you learn while you play and the experience hits different. although i will give you the advice of finishing all B and C sides before you start farewell. i wish someone had told me that when i started chapter 9
I've been playing through Celeste for a third time (second time without assist mode) after going through a rough spot and just got to summit C-side. It shouldn't take nearly as long as chapter 3 c-side as apparently I did it in 400ish deaths last run. After that is farewell, and I am going to try and get some of the secret rooms this time around. Then finish it off with core
I am attempting farewell currently with no c sides and no core b, and have gotten pretty far!

Farewell is my favourite part of the game cause it really is like the peak, in music, story, gameplay and everything, and I always love when people can complete it.

Farewell might be hard and a bit annoying while playing it, but finally beating it is such a good feeling. I just keep coming back to it, I've already done it three times.
Also Windy you should play the strawberry jam mod, it's pretty much Celeste+
I've been waiting to watch this video until I beat Farewell myself and I can officially say I managed it about an hour and a half ago! Took me like 12 hours over the course of many, MANY days. Watching you get through the last screen and feeling those inputs still in my hands was a trip. Congrats Windy! You're a fantastic Celeste player and a very pretty boy. :)
I think my favorite thing by FAR about this chapter is the music.
First track is really nice and chill, second track is okay, not really my kind of music but it serves a purpose. Third track is all triumphant n shit, 4th is calm and reflective, giving you a moment to breathe, and that last song is the definition of peak.
Congrats for completing it man. Watching these videos makes me want to stream Celeste. Looks like a sweet...maddening game.

I am so happy for you! I beat farewell over 24 Hours and 6000 deaths. I think you did extremely well for your first time beating it. It took me the same amount of time it took you to beat the last whole chapter for me to do the last room. Good Job!

My first playthrough of FW took me 11 hours and about 4000 deaths...
I always am incredibly joyous watching others play games I've struggled with. Some of those screens you crushed easily, way faster than me. Likely due to having more experience in general with platformers (I'm coping okay.), but I'm really glad we can share in the struggle that is the final screen. Dying and learning in celeste was so fun. I found many optimizations on the final screen like you too, simply since it was so long I had to in order to put in enough attempts. I'll carry the experience to my real grave, and that's why Celeste is a timeless masterpiece.

Also if you’re planning on doing Celeste mods (which you totally should) I would recommend either Strawberry Jam or the Spring 2020 Collab. Both are incredibly high quality and have skill levels ranging from a-sides to farewell to absolute hell, 10/10 would recommend

Farewell is truly special, its difficult, but it knows it's difficult
no room is impossible, and even the really hard ones are spread out so that you always feel the progression even if its slow, congratulations on beating it!

i had never seen the farewell dlc before this video, and holy shit it's beautiful. the bit where part of you and part of granny work together to help you really got me :' ignoring the countless times they threw you directly into death traps lmao. this game really never does cease to amaze with its mechanics, music, and visuals

My first plathrough took 13 hours and 4.5k deaths. You my good sir, are a gamer. Clearing rooms that took me well over half an hour in under 10 minutes on your first play through is just insane to me.

It's Celeste with a lotttttttttttt of different maps and it teaches you the mechanics of the game.

I know I am very late, but can we talk about how he was humming along with the music a bit? It wasn't a lot, but as someone who has had actual lessons in singing, I was really impressed with how it sounded. Much less that it wasn't JUST humming along, but almost harmonizing. All on top of doing a hellish section that makes people want to die. Major props for that 😊
