Kampung Baru was named as such when it was established as a new area of resettlement for the malay villagers when Kuala Lumpur was re-gazetted from a mining town into a proper city back in 1899.
Harriet and I have been to Kuala Lumpur. For us, it was all about the food. We loved it. It tastes so much better when you are enjoying it with your dad. Treasure those moments. Sending much love ❤ from Richmond, Va. Harriet, Jim and Yuki
Dane and Stacey - having been with you for a long while now you are making some of the best videos of your career! These trips with your Dad, Stacey, are so special. But be careful, he just might take over your VLOG. 😉

Definitely Malaysia has the best tasting Char Kuay Teow and Mee Goreng, it's SOOO FLAVOURFUL. So funny how you described durian as mashed onion LOL - I think it tastes like if Banana and Custard had a baby!! Haha
The reason why its call new village because it was once a new village and the name mever change. Same as Johor bahru southern malaysia. Hope it explains well
Oohh... what a great nostalgic series this will be. Gonna be eagerly awaiting... (14:19 Kampung Bharu (New Village) is 'new' in the way that New York is 'new' 🙃)
It is named Kampung Baru (New Village / New Town) because it was one of the first towns to be developed in the 1900s in KL. Before that, the whole place was once an ore mining town. It was developed to be an Urban Town. That's the reason. Just like Kuala Lumpur literally means Muddy Conflux as it was once just a muddy village. Now Kuala Lumpur is full of concrete and no sign of mud 😂
Ha, ha, ha, Dane: "I got so agresive"...u can't be agresive making food🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣...guys we love your vlogs. You both are so lovely and so funny. 💕 Dad George is the best. 👍💕 My goodness.. all these food....just incredible 💕. Tx for taking us on this trip. Lots of love💖💖
The puttu is called Putu Buluh which means Bamboo Putu, in the old days they were steamed inside the bamboos. We also have Putu Mayam, Putu Halba & Putu Piring.
🕓 Time 14:05 Kampung Baru - This village of 1899 was then the newest part of Kuala Lumpur established since 1857, hence its call "The New" Kampung. 🤔 Imagine like the so called young man of your father at the time, now return back for visit. But still called by his old pals: "Young George" 😅😂
the hot wok is necessary to burn off the oil, I was told haha. Man, you guys look like you had so much good food (I will absolutely eat your durian for you Stacey)
If your friend tongue can’t accept the durian, don’t ever push them to keep testing it hoping that our tongue suddenly fell in love with it. No, it make us pisses off more 😂
You guys always have the best food tour vlogs! You make me hungry even when I am full! 😂 I discovered Khao Soi because of you guys. Eating for 4 hours? Wow!
