      @@JasonMillerOutdoors You deserve the praise, you're showcasing America's most unique and rare animals! I'd rather see a wild Ocelot in your video than in captivity at a zoo, I'm sure many of your subscribers are the same way. Keep up the great work brother!

      @@TheTrident1982 I so agree with you about zoos. With the types of videos we are able to access of animals in the wild zoos are so anachronistic and unnecessary.

    So stoked to see ocelots are still around. I spent so much time with the Ocelot at Sonora Desert Museum and it was heartbreaking to see her decline. My heart is full to know they are still in the AZ wild ❤

      When I was in 7th grade, I had to do a report on a desert animal. I went to the desert museum to get an animal picture for it. The Ocelot was the only one out and about that day, so I got a picture of it and did my report. 35 ish years later, I captured one on camera in Southern Az! Crazy huh?

    Good stuff. Ocelots and bobcats are similar- very elusive! Here in Pa. we have bobcats all over. I hunt every year- have for 50 years- and have only seen one bobcat in the wild. Doesn’t mean they aren’t here. They are very wary and wily. You may be surprised how many ocelots are in Arizona, but don’t show themselves. Regardless, you got some real nice video there👍🇺🇸❤️

    Found this quote on the web. You should tell fish and game if you haven't. "The public is always "jazzed" to see photos of these rare spotted cats in Arizona's backcountry. The latest photo of the only known ocelot currently living in Southern Arizona was taken on Jan. 14, 2021, in the Huachuca Mountains. This is the same individual photographed in this area since May 2012, game officials say."

    I came across what appeared to be a hybrid bobcat/ ocelot mix in Cave Creek, Az on the road to Seven Springs. Bobcats are fairly common around the Verde along with wild horses, mule deer, javelinas, coatis, river otters , king snakes, rattlesnakes. I got a chance to live with Az wildlife as I camped out by the Verde during COVID.

    One of the coolest videos you've ever made! The only other place in the US where I'm aware ocelots have been seen is the Laguna Atascosa Preserve in far South Texas and the last time I was there they had none on video and hadn't actually seen one in a long time. I think you could teach them a few things about capturing them on video. Many thanks to your talent and diligence.

    Way cool that you captured that on your trail cam. Excited to know that they are still in Arizona much like the Jaguar. My parents owned and Ocelot as a pet in the 1950's. They also spotted a Jaguar at the base of Escudilla mountain back in the 1990's that they reported to Game and Fish who were aware of it's presence.

    • @JasonMillerOutdoors
      @JasonMillerOutdoors  Рік тому

      Wow, a Jaguar at Escudilla? Is that in northern Az?

    • @kek3908
      @kek3908 Рік тому +2

      @@JasonMillerOutdoors It's more eastern, between Springerville and Alpine, 3rd highest mountain in the state. They were driving from Springervlle at night to Alpine when it ran across the road in front of them just before the turnoff that takes you up to Terry Flat on top of Escudilla (at that point you are basically at the base of the mountain). They stated that it was so close they almost hit it and were a little shook by the whole thing because of the near accident and that it was a Jaguar. It's a little known but wonderful piece of Arizona. There is a hike from Terry Flat up to a Forrest Service lookout tower that has incredible views. It's about 1.5 miles each way at 9,000 feet, and a really robust but beautifal hike through Aspen, Pine and Blue Spruce with wild strawberry patches and rasberry bushes. They used to have a guest book that you could sign at the start and people would list seeing all kinds of wildlife to include bears and mountain lions. Any time I was up there and did the hike with people, I would take a firearm for protection because you just don't know what you will run into.

    I was driving home to Playas NM Southwest of Deming , late one evening in 1997 I saw 4 sets of eyes just of the road about 100yds before the turn off to Playas there were 2 Ocelots that caught a rabbit, they were stunning I recognized them right away, they stated to cross the road 50' or so in front of me carrying the prize catch with them, I was already slowing down for my turn, so i stopped n watched them for bout 30 seconds , then they were gone. The reason I knew what they were, my mom n I inherited a pet Ocelot from an old actor my mom knew for many years, I was about 5 or 6 we had Kitty till she died of old age about 10 years later she was so beautiful n nice temperament, she slept on my bed always very protective of me. 0:01

    Howdy Jason, hopefully he will bring a female around. Both of them will raise the kittens, she would most likely find a den site up in the high country were there caves and boulders and such, the male will be hunter and lookout. That would be cool if y’all are able to find their den and film the raising of their kittens.

    What beautiful sights to see. Mom with her cubs, i hope they stay safe and the cubs thrive!! Nothing better then wildlife in their habitat doing good.
    Is the Ocelot originally from there? To me they favor a smaller version of the clouded leopard. I love the fact that you see different animals on the same trail i just hope they steer clear of each other. Seems they do a pretty good job of that. You know they smell each other, wonder what goes on inside their minds when they pick up on others scents?
    Thank you greatly for sharing these sights. I love wildlife of any kind. You could not have picked a better spot to put your cameras in.
