I will forever remember the day I saw a beautiful ocelot with a rare grey coat at my grandparents farm in central Nicaragua, it’s true these are very elusive animals he saw me and ran away off the trail but stopped for a sec to take a glimpse and look back at me with its huge dark eyes and then ran into the mountain

Officially, this is the only Ocelot right now, according to the G&F. I believe there has to be more, but I've never seen any pics of any other Ocelots in Az.

@@JasonMillerOutdoors My brother his wife and myself saw one around midnight near Apache Arizona while visiting family in 2009. I don't go by official and neither do you because you know there is more than one and so does everybody else. Just like there's no more timber rattlesnakes in Maine. I found a den with 7 that I saw in 1998 as a teen with 2 friends on a border Town of Maine and New Hampshire in the very Southwest of Maine. My friends and I would hike and explore this little mountain area every spring and Summer and smoke weed and just chill out camp for a weekend because it's very isolated. Have been hiking this place for over 20 years. We made a promise not to tell anybody where it is and I still keep in touch with these 2 guys I kept my promise and they swear they have kept theirs. The only place near here that has recorded timber rattlesnake den is about 45 miles away near Allenstown NH. I have seen two dens there too. 🙂.

I'm from the valley, and as a kid, Mom would talk about"Los Gatos montes", but I saw one at the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville, TX. Very beautiful, almost the coat of a clouded leopard.

I live in port Mansfield, about 5 miles from there,, We must save this area ! It is being initiated by wind farms that are impact the fragile environment here ! Millions of migratory birds travel the same corridors on the way to nest in the Laguna made.
They are being mutilated by the THOUSANDS of wind turbines! This area is one of the few truly unspoiled areas of nature left in Texas! Our little port is in dire battle with those who want to develop steel mills, and massively increase the “ commercial possibilities” of the area ! We must bring attention to this nationally to keep South Texas Wild and unique!

I so agree with you and grew up in the Valley and have been back twice in recent years on birdwatching trips. The Valley has such a unique and under appreciated ecosystem. Sad to see that the current political structure of Texas is doing nothing to protect it.

Ocelots are in the continental U.S.? Where? The ocelot is listed as 'Least Concern' on the IUCN endangered species Red List. Because they are abundant in South America.

Too bad we have millions of illegal invaders who ruin it for these creatures. What else are we supposed to do, allow the entire world to break in? Use some common sense. You wouldn't want the entire world breaking into your home either.

Watching this right now on dvd from library-SOOO depressing--too depressing. Thankfully, in other areas of the world ocelots are doing better than they are in U.S. It's too bad there aren't more efforts here to keep them alive & well on our lands.
