This isn’t working for me 😭 it keeps saying can’t connect to the ps4, like the controller everything works up to point of signing in then it freezes and then disconnects from ps4. The ps4 is hard wired. Do I need to hardwire my pc!?
The ps4 controller needs to be plugged into the pc and you need to make sure it’s not linking to the ps4. The problem sounds like when you’re logging in or hit the ps button on the controller it’s syncing to the ps4 and you can’t play locally and remote so it’s kicking off the remote session.
Nice tutorial! - Will this guide works for the PS5 also? - I don't want to stream but to record my gameplay while playing. What is the best way to do this? Can OBS record the gameplay? After the gameplay session is finished, I want to go where it is saved to modify it: add a soundtrack and different sounds. - If I want to make small adjustments of the recording camera I used in gameplay, too (to make the camera bigger or add other effects at certain scenes), do I have to record the camera separately from the main gameplay? - Can I use an external microphone to record my voice while playing? - What camera for recording do you recommend? - Any software to edit the gameplay and make all the above possibile? Thanks! Any help is welcomed!
Hey and thank you so much! I’m gonna try to hit all your questions. Not sure on the ps5 as I don’t have one. BUT I’m sure the remote play feature is on there so it should be fine. Obs is a beast for recording. But it won’t record separate game and face cam videos. Epos Vox has an interesting video on how to manage this. ua-cam.com/video/O8w9x31FBUo/v-deo.html Obs will let you use any and as many mics as you need. And it doesn’t have to be the same mic going to the remote play session so that’s a definite yes. I just upgraded my camera to a Sony a6400 but it’s overkill. I also use it for vlogging so it’s dual purpose. The logitech c920/922 or the Brio 4K are also great choices for cameras. As far aa software goes in a big fan of Adobe premiere. It is $15 a month but I can’t live without it. Davinci Resolve is also a great and powerful video editing software and it’s free. Hope I nailed it!! And thank you again!
Thank you! great info here, just what I was needing :) Got one question: What if I want to use two PS controllers to play with a friend, instead of one? Would it also work? Thanks!
That’s a great question that I don’t have an answer to! Not sure if connecting it to the ps directly would disconnect your remote play or not. Try and report back!
Just another example of not needing alot of subs to make a great video going to fiddle with this and if it works im giving u a shout-out on my channel! Thank you brother
What if you’re using two accounts? I’m streaming through my laptop and have a second account, so that I can remote play my main account on PS4 rather then laptop?
BustaShott 2nd streaming account or 2nd ps4 account? The ps4 account shouldn’t matter, although I’ve seen some people set it up so you’re playing on one account on the ps4 with a tv and using the second account to do the remote play. That can completely remove the lag. If you’re talking about two twitch accounts then I’m not sure what you’re asking.
ChowlbPlays I made a new ps account then used remote play through that. Then switch to my main account so I can play through my tv and still use remote play to stream on OBS. The problem I have is I can’t hear my chat or party chat. Unless I plug my headset into my controller but then my stream can’t hear me if that makes sense? 😂
BustaShott give it another go and also check your headset cables. Sometimes I don’t seat mine all the way in and it can cause noise or cause the mic to not work 100%. But again I haven’t done the 2 account method so thank you for letting me know.
I appreciate your video because I'm new at this and most videos' I came across isn't as clear and well explained. my obs was black and wouldn't show PSN n couldn't find window capture they failed to mention where it was I got really frustrated with you I was able to get through it smoothly including audio totally earn my support for your channel
Are you using game or window capture? You can also check your windows 'Graphics Settings' where you can set which GPU to use for OBS. In the windows search just type in graphics settings, browse to your OBS64.exe and then you can make sure it's using the correct GPU. Also on window and i believe you can choose Windows 10 1903 and above in the capture method. see if those resolve anything for you.
Thank you so much for this video! Everything you mentioned was like a 2nd language to me at 1st and after following your tutorial, I have a much better understanding of what and how to do this. No more capture cards, thank goodness! Thank you again!
@@ChowlbPlays I do have a question pertaining to gameplay and microphone audio. I noticed last night when I was streaming, the game audio had a lot of crackling and would bleed into the microphone. Resulting in a lot echoing and very distorted audio, do you have any advice on how to eliminate both (echoing and distortion) and possibly any suggestions on proper audio levels? Thank you in advanced. Edit: I had audio coming out of my monitors but turned them off and the audio on my tv was muted also. I also didn't have my basic DAW set up, interface, xlr and mic. Just a simple pair of headphones with a built in microphone.
Really nice video, wanna try it, but what confuses me after all in this way is on which screen am I gonna game? Or which screen am I gonna "watch" let's say...My tv or the pc monitor?? 🤔
So technically you'll game on the remote play window, if you try to connect your ps4 controller back to the ps4, it'll disconnect your remote play since you can't play in two places on one account. that being said, there is a method where people will set up a dummy account and use that to log into remote play, once that's connected when you go back to your ps4, you can connect a controller and then log in as your main account to play. the dummy account keeps the remote play session open and views your main account playing locally on a tv or wherever. as far as watching the stream, you can do that on a separate monitor, phone, tablet, however you wish.
@@ChowlbPlays thank you for the really fast response wow.. thats was helpful 🙂 on the last part you say I can watch the stream on a seperate device, you mean other than the one that has the remote play window open? 🤔
@@Melancholy_GR if you're just monitoring the stream/chat then yes, you can do it on anything. It can be the same device as the remote play, but if your remote play is full screen then you won't be able to do that. It's easiest just to have a tablet or phone or an old laptop/pc or even a second monitor if you have one. You're just really making sure the stream is running and so you can see chat.
Direct connection plug in your Ethernet cable to your ps4 and plug in the other end straight to your PC Make sure that you turn on allow other PCs to give and recieve data This is how ⬇️ Control panel/network and sharing/change adapter settings, Right click and press properties and switch to the sharing tab and turn that on That should fix all latency issues Also if you wanna use Ethernet to connect your wifi Buy a Ethernet to USB adapter And plug it into ur pc Not ur ps4 If you have a bad wifi or something This will help Alot
I always say hardwiring your internet is the best you can do. Wifi is terrible for streaming as far as bandwidth. Any time you can run a physical cable, the better off you'll be.
@@Syndicate_Cookie only issue with plugging your ps4 directly into your pc over ethernet is then you can no longer use the hardwired pc port to stream, since it's connected to the ps4 and not your router/isp. if you're just recording that will work. Again, great tips, and always hardwire when you can.
I did not know this is even possible. I assumed that the PS4 direct share option would be the only one and I was trying to save up for a Stream card/device so I could maybe start Streaming on Facebook. Thanks a lot for this detailed video! I now have what I need to test and maybe start streaming at some point in the near future! You got a new subscriber to your channel and a Like for this video.
No i stream via ps4 only not through a pc so i connect the fifine mic to my ps4 usb port it’s detect fifine mic 🎙️ and it shows switch to fifine mic but my voice input doesn’t work in audio settings
Yeah it’ll be pretty rough. Mainly the upload on the stream itself. Wireless just doesn’t really have that kinda headroom for uploading a constant stream to twitch or UA-cam.
Game chat isn't sent through remote play for privacy reasons, party audio should come through. Unfortunately it's been a hot minute since I've had a mac, so I can't really speak to the audio issues or settings for it.
You don't have to wait on the PC to start streaming, you can stream straight from the PS4 as well. And then when you get the PC it'll be an upgrade. I've got a video on how to do that here if you're interested: ua-cam.com/video/5MvhVvefpM8/v-deo.html
@@ChowlbPlays Thank you, I tried it last night. I lost a couple of frames here and there. But I think it was my Internet Speed - 20MB Down and 5MB Up. Is there a standard requirement for internet speed of the PC I am using?
@@kodishang 5 up is pretty standard for most internet...but it's not great for streaming. You can try to lower your bitrate. You're trying to play a game and stream over the same pipe, and the 5Mb is a narrow one.
It really depends on the specs of the laptop. A decent CPU is really all you need. A gaming PC isn't necessary since you're not playing the game on the PC you're streaming on .
Thanks! That was the fastest respond I've ever got on a comment from a video that is 3 years old! Thanks man! I'll just try and I will see if it's okay.
@@MattazoidGamer i try to stay on top of my comments and help everyone out if i can. You may need to lower the resolution or the framerate to find a good fit for your laptop. everything doesn't have to be 1080 60fps, 720 is acceptable since a lot of people watch videos on their phones and that resolution is great for a small screen.
@@hughruane4601 you’re gonna notice a lot of lag with that kinda distance. Wi-Fi will work but is very unstable for any type of streaming. It’s fairly network intensive. Any chance you can hardwire a connection the better.
The gameplay will come through the remote play. Your headset should be plugged into the pc so that you can set obs to use your headset as your main mic and route the audio from the headset/remote play to obs. The only thing that won’t come through is game chat. Party chat will work but game chat is blocked from being streamed for privacy concerns.
I'm fairly new to streaming so it's actually really awesome to hear tips and tricks because the ONE THING that's been bothering me is not being able to properly crop my windows.
when i connect to my ps4, it turns my ps4 controller off, i turn it on, its working just fine, tells me to click my little profile pic to login yk, then it loses connection everytime, any solutions
It's losing connection because remote play only allows one account to be signed on, when you push the PS button it's signing you in locally on the ps4 since that controller is registered to the ps4, essentially kicking you off remote play. They're like "hey, it's either you play local or remote, not both". So make sure your ps4 controller is plugged INTO the pc, or you may need to go in to the ps4 settings and disassociate your controller from the ps4 altogether.
Quick question can you add a microphone like a blue yeti for example and if you can does it mess with any of the settings pre existing or can remote play handle it?
Streaming this way you’re using ObS and the pcs resources. So whatever your pc can handle then you can use it. Web cams and microphones should be fine. The remote play session just routes that audio from the pc back to the PlayStation.
Thanks for the video. I was recording using the elgato and could never get the picture right then through the ps5 but taking 4k video and having to transcode it is a pain so this is the next best thing. Earned a sub !
@@ChowlbPlays thanks i also had some problems the screen was black like other people but i figured it out, i forgot to plug in the controller usb cable in the computer and then i went to obs and i saw the tab their CAN'T WAIT TO STREAM :D
If you're just looking to record, i have quick video on some recording settings for OBS here: ua-cam.com/video/lSYAbuxsFw0/v-deo.html that should help walk you through the recording process from OBS.
It needs some decent RAM and any decent GPU will work. Laptops don’t usually have very great GPUs but you can get by with it. Any current gen processors should be fine to handle it.
I wanted to use this method to stream my channel. But I have a ps4 camera. How do I add the face camera on ps4? Thank you so much I greatly appreciate it.
I believe the only way to use the PS4 camera is to stream (broadcast) directly from the PS4. Since that camera has a proprietary connector, I don't think it can connect to a PC, and doing some research there's no way to just show the ps4 camera over the gameplay with remote play.
I use my phone with OSB for camera, but can I use my Ps4 headset plugged into the controller? My concern is my Headset cable is very short and I have to use a splitter to get mic and sound. So I cant sit far. And if I put a lenghtener cable between the splitter and headset, I dont get desktop audio. Because it only sees the mic because its in the mic port on the pc, so splitter doensnt work with an extra lenghtener, only directly to the headset cable. Maybe a longer splitter cable would be the solution if that exists.
If your controller is plugged into the PC, then you should be able to use the headset with the controller. just need to check your windows sound settings to make sure it's set to whatever is plugged into the controller, it may even actually be the controller.
@@ChowlbPlays I mean I can use it in my pc, but can I use the headset if I plug it into the controller? Or do I have to plug it into the pc with this setup? I'd like to plug it into the controller so I can ger farther from the Tv.
@@tomigrinmusic you can try to plug it into the controller, like i was saying just check your windows mic/audio settings after you do to see if it picked it up. I've never tried it that way, but it might work just fine.

The ps4 controller needs to be plugged into the pc and you need to make sure it’s not linking to the ps4. The problem sounds like when you’re logging in or hit the ps button on the controller it’s syncing to the ps4 and you can’t play locally and remote so it’s kicking off the remote session.
Thanks man. For the last 2 days I was trying to connect and really got vexed. It is solved now, thanks to you.
This is fantastic news!! Thank you so much for the coment!
Epos Vox has an interesting video on how to manage this. ua-cam.com/video/O8w9x31FBUo/v-deo.html
Obs will let you use any and as many mics as you need.
Thank you! great info here, just what I was needing :)
Got one question: What if I want to use two PS controllers to play with a friend, instead of one? Would it also work? Thanks!
That’s a great question that I don’t have an answer to! Not sure if connecting it to the ps directly would disconnect your remote play or not. Try and report back!
Just another example of not needing alot of subs to make a great video going to fiddle with this and if it works im giving u a shout-out on my channel! Thank you brother

Heck yeah!
Hey thanks i just streamed on twitch thanks so much
So dang awesome!!!!
This was the best hot to video I’ve seen. I been stressing for a bit but new to OBS and this was so awesome
not as awesome as this comment though. thank you so much!
BustaShott have you tried inviting and having the 2nd account in the party? That might work.
ChowlbPlays yeah mate, I think that’s when my audio started buzzing. I could give it another try 🤙🏻
BustaShott give it another go and also check your headset cables. Sometimes I don’t seat mine all the way in and it can cause noise or cause the mic to not work 100%. But again I haven’t done the 2 account method so thank you for letting me know.

Hi mate I gave this a go but when I click remoteplay.exe it's just a black screen what could this be
Are you using game or window capture? You can also check your windows 'Graphics Settings' where you can set which GPU to use for OBS. In the windows search just type in graphics settings, browse to your OBS64.exe and then you can make sure it's using the correct GPU. Also on window and i believe you can choose Windows 10 1903 and above in the capture method. see if those resolve anything for you.
Thank you so much for this video! Everything you mentioned was like a 2nd language to me at 1st and after following your tutorial, I have a much better understanding of what and how to do this. No more capture cards, thank goodness!
Thank you again!
No no thank you!! Such a great comment!
@@DeadFiend so did that fix the echo?
@@ChowlbPlays thank you so much for the info 🙂👏

I love it!!!!
so if i want a better connection, should i use a lan cable on my computer or ps4? or both??
Always both if you can!!
Direct connection
plug in your Ethernet cable to your ps4 and plug in the other end straight to your PC
Make sure that you turn on allow other PCs to give and recieve data
This is how ⬇️
Control panel/network and sharing/change adapter settings,
Right click and press properties and switch to the sharing tab and turn that on
That should fix all latency issues
Also if you wanna use Ethernet to connect your wifi
Buy a Ethernet to USB adapter
And plug it into ur pc
Not ur ps4
If you have a bad wifi or something
This will help Alot
I always say hardwiring your internet is the best you can do. Wifi is terrible for streaming as far as bandwidth. Any time you can run a physical cable, the better off you'll be.
@@ChowlbPlays I understand that
My old comment was poorly worded but I fixed it
@@Syndicate_Cookie only issue with plugging your ps4 directly into your pc over ethernet is then you can no longer use the hardwired pc port to stream, since it's connected to the ps4 and not your router/isp. if you're just recording that will work.

No i stream via ps4 only not through a pc so i connect the fifine mic to my ps4 usb port it’s detect fifine mic 🎙️ and it shows switch to fifine mic but my voice input doesn’t work in audio settings
Oh ok, I’m not at all familiar with that headset. You may need to reach out to FiFine support.
I'm using a blue yeti connected to my ps4 wont pick it up on obs when I stream
Will there be serious latency and delay issue if I use wifi for both my pc and ps4?
Yeah it’ll be pretty rough. Mainly the upload on the stream itself. Wireless just doesn’t really have that kinda headroom for uploading a constant stream to twitch or UA-cam.
what if i have a mac and have trouble with my voice and the other players voices through remote play?
Game chat isn't sent through remote play for privacy reasons, party audio should come through. Unfortunately it's been a hot minute since I've had a mac, so I can't really speak to the audio issues or settings for it.
Saved for when I get a pc caus I wanna start streaming 😁👏👏👏

Great tutorial to start streaming on a budget mate. Thanks
Really appreciate the support!!
now what do you do if you can see the game in remote play but it shows up black in OBS?
curious are you on a laptop or a mac ?
Hi!
I have a question.
Do i need a gaming PC or i can even use a normal laptop?

@@ChowlbPlays Do you need to be on the same WiFi network or would it work from say Ireland to America
@@hughruane4601 you’re gonna notice a lot of lag with that kinda distance. Wi-Fi will work but is very unstable for any type of streaming. It’s fairly network intensive. Any chance you can hardwire a connection the better.
@@ChowlbPlays Brilliant man, thanks so much. Love the videos
@@hughruane4601 thank you!
how do i make the stream hear me, my friends and the game? Im worried that one of these won't show up and I'll have a bad stream
@@ChowlbPlays ok much appreciated

Not sure why this went to my 'held comments', but thank you so much!!
I'm fairly new to streaming so it's actually really awesome to hear tips and tricks because the ONE THING that's been bothering me is not being able to properly crop my windows.
woohoo!
Been looking for soo long for this video, thanks
where have you been all my life?
when i connect to my ps4, it turns my ps4 controller off, i turn it on, its working just fine, tells me to click my little profile pic to login yk, then it loses connection everytime, any solutions
Yo thank you so much for this video! Most helpful video hands down even after years later!
Can’t tell you how much I appreciate that!!

great to hear! come back if you have any problems and i can try my best to help!
this was exactly what I was looking for!
Heck yeah! I love to hear it!
Thanks man subbed
Thank you so much my friend!!
My PS4 Remote Play is not appearing on OBS, do you know how to fix that?
Make sure you start remote play BEFORE you start OBS.

do i have to plug in my usb ps4 charger to my computer before doing all these steps?.
You will need your controller plugged into the PC so it won’t disconnect the remote play session.

Heck yes! I love knowing someone found value in my little videos!
I’m wondering if the specs of laptop/desktop matter, n if so what would be recommend to run smooth to minimum gameplay? Love the video thanks
It needs some decent RAM and any decent GPU will work. Laptops don’t usually have very great GPUs but you can get by with it. Any current gen processors should be fine to handle it.
This seems super useful/helpful. Can't wait to try it out. (knowing my luck, I'll probably find some new tech problem that's never been seen again xD)
Awesome!!!! If you run into any issues let me know. I can’t fix everything but may have an idea.
great video, thanks but, I have one question. What about party chat on ps4 when streaming? Will people be able to hear my friends' voices?

Attack TheGame yay! This is so awesome to hear!!

Question, will this set up allow to record the chat from other parties? Like if someone is talking trash on games like MK?
When I go to my output in the audio. All I have is the speakers that are plugged. I also dont have optical output. I have everything set up except for the party chat. People watching me cant hear my friends only.
Output will be whatever you want the sound to play through. Speakers, headset, optical. I have optical because my a40s are plugged into the pc via optical audio.
