    IF ONE PC CANT SEE THE OTHER, OR YOU GET BLACK SCREEN: Make sure to allow OBS thru the windows firewall on both PCs, both PCs are connected to the same router/switch via Ethernet cable as they normally would be for Internet access, and also enable "media streaming" on both PCs.

My gaming PC runs Windows but every other device I use runs on Linux (If I had the hardware the Windows machine would be a Linux virtualization gaming rig with GPU passthru and all that good stuff but alas.. stinky windows) NDI stopped playing well after Windows 10 got some updates post Win11 launch so I'm hoping this has a better time.

    i use this setup with tmobile home internet and havent had any issues :D
    Main pc is a Scar 17 2023 (hard wired to modem/router) and streaming/work pc is an z13 acronym (wifi). Haven't streamed in a few days due to a very annoying persistent cough, but it works like a charm. Then i use OBS Blade on my s22u to change scenes or adjust audio of background music.

    • @CoalitionGaming
      @CoalitionGaming  4 місяці тому

      Not sure what you're asking. All audio configured on the gaming PC's OBS should transfer into OBS on the 2nd PC. If audio is not transferring, then you need to do a few things to be sure. Make sure OBS is allowed thru the windows firewall on both PCs, make sure "Media Streaming" is enabled on both PCs, and make sure both computers are connected to the same router/switch via ethernet cable as they already would be for internet access. Then on the advanced audio mixer on the 2nd PC, make sure all the tracks are selected for the OBS Teleport source.

    Nice Vid, thanks for this. Just a question; Are there any benefits to your GAMING PC or difference from a single PC stream? Cause you are streaming from GAMING PC to STREAMING PC, so you are still encoding from your GAMING PC right? Less CPU usage for Overlays and effects only, maybe? so is it worth it for the GAMING PC performance?

    • @CoalitionGaming
      @CoalitionGaming  5 місяців тому +1

      Yes there are benefits. The encoding using Teleport is lightweight to what you might consider normal "encoding." As far as your overlays and effects and all that, its up to you which PC you want them on. Obviously the less of that on the gaming PC, the better, but its all preference.

      This was specified at 6:36 but for further clarification: You click "start streaming" from the streaming PC. The indication that you are streaming will be on that PC and that PC only. Reduce the amount of browser, media, video, and image sources uses in OBS on the gaming PC and reduce the amount of animated sources used altogether. Also be sure to make sure both computers are connected to the same router/switch via Ethernet cable. If the 2nd computer is using Intel integrated graphics on a CPU generation older than 10th Gen, that could also be part of the problem too. And don't turn he quality slider for Teleport past 80.

      None of what you listed are used to connect computers together fyi. Those are for connecting monitors to computers. In scenarios for streaming, 2 PC setups use capture cards, NDI, or Teleport like in this video. With capture cards, there is additional configuration needed with audio routing as well.

    Do we then have to run music on the stream output PC if we want the audio separated from the VODs? Then we'd have to configure all those audio settings on the output PC and somehow operate all the controls there. This is getting messy.

    • @CoalitionGaming
      @CoalitionGaming  2 місяці тому

      Two PC setups are messy. Thats just the way it is. But assuming you have the 2nd PC near, you plug in a stream deck or similar device and just keep that near you to handle stream controls. The monitor for that PC can be near/next to yours as well so you can see the OBS preview and see whats going on. You can use ShareMouse to share your single keyboard and mouse across both computers for less mess. There are ways to make the most out of a dual PC setup but for the grand majority of people, it isnt necessary. You decide.

      This method won't work with computers on two different networks. However, there is no reason with this method that should be required. Is there something you're confused about? This method does not put any additional strain on your internet connection. It uses your local network to communicate between the computers. The 2nd PC is the one streaming, the first one is just the one gaming. What would normally be happening on the same PC in a single PC setup is now happening on two PCs in a 2 PC setup but the load is split and thus no different than the load from gaming/streaming on a single PC.

    I made more progress with Teleport than NDI 5. I keep hitting a wall where my streaming PC does not see the gaming PC. Both connected via LAN to the same router, I've tried turning on/off and changing settings; Firewall & rules, media sharing, resolution outputs, antivirus, discoverable, etc.
    Today with Teleport I had minor progress. I can get both PCs to see themselves and show in OBS. Previously I could only get the gaming PC to see the streaming. Not the other way and streaming PC not itself. The video does not display though.
    If you think you've got an idea, it's appreciated.

      The main things are media streaming enabled on both, both wired to same router/switch via Ethernet, OBS allowed thru windows firewall on both, and then finally you can try restarting your router as well. Beyond that, you need to look into what ports and stuff these protocols use and open them up/forward them/allow them directly in your router.
      You can also plug both PCs into a separate new switch, then run one cable from router to switch to give that switch Internet access and you sort of bypass the router's issues like that

      No it remains open on both. You need to optimize any sources you have added if just OBS is enough to cause performance drops. You may not be checking the box to shutdown sources when not visible (for browser sources) unload image when not active (image sources) or anything like that. It's worded differently for every source but you have to go thru every source and check that box otherwise just having OBS open will hurt performance. Never said it doesn't use any resources. It uses a little bit, but definitely not as intense as you make it sound in terms of load. The way this and NDI works are that yes, they are encoding to send to the other PC, but that they use a lightweight method so that they don't do heavy encoding so it doesn't use up as much resources to do their thing.

      Yes since consoles do not support NDI or Teleport, you would need a capture card to get that captured into the PC. Or if you managed to use two different USB capture cards at the same time. But in the config you've presented, id say using Teleport for the PCs, then the capture card to the PC to capture the switch will be the config you're after.
