Still haven't seen anyone quite like him in metal. Not one drummer since has been able to duplicate his feel. Jimmy came damn close. The album Vinnie is on I can't even listen to. it's not Megadeth to me....

Sometimes the super technical playing gets stale and boring after a while and drummers need a break from it, this is a nice change up for them, but this song is no slouch shit either, especially when that double bass kicks in

There isn't anything any of the previous Megadeth drummers have done that Dirk can't do. Not shitting on any of them, but Dirk is on a whole new level. Go listen to the Soilwork albums. Dirk is a monster. It still blows he left Soilwork, but things are what they are and I'm looking forward to the new Megadeth disc for sure. Going to bet it will be the most technical thing they've done since Rust.

I dont know if he could or could not. But he didn't play it in the live performances and also in the drum cover he did a few years ago. That roll is gar signature roll. And Dave mustaine said in the Peace sells remastered interview (2003) that no one could emulate that, Degrasso was close in my opinion. And here we are, Dirk playing gar fills like it was supposed to. Bare in mind that, again, dave said that dirk reminded him a lot of gar's playing. Nick was a beast, there is no point denying that, but gar, gar was unique because he had a different mindset and style of playing, he was jazz fusion drummer, not a metal one. With that said, Dirk playing both menza's and gar's drum parts to perfection is something to aknowledge.

Having seen Dirk live multiple times with Soilwork ,Megadeth falls well inside his skill set. He can do Gars jazzy fluidity and groove justice, while easily matching Nicks speed, precision and power.
