This is one of the best bass tutorials I have ever seen in my life. You combine useful practical instruction, clear demonstrations, and deep bass knowledge in a spellbinding way. I feel like you just taught me more about Wooten's thumping and plucking technique than every other instructional video I ever watched combined. This video alone was all I needed to see to Subscribe. Sincerely thank you. 🙏
I could not agree more with your comment about NOT trying to use the middle finger early on when learning this technique. I fell into that trap back in the day just like you said you did, and ended up eventually giving up entirely on trying to learn the technique because I couldn't work it out. Then, when I started revisiting it again, I took my time and built up the technique gradually. My middle finger still isn't up to the standards I would like it to be, but I am very happy with my index and thumb work. Great video!
This is such a good tutorial, never have a seen a tutorial so straight to the point with extremely helpful tips and all in one video explains every step of the way to sound like victor wooten. You sir are an incredible teacher.
I have been working on this technique for over a year and I still have problems nailing the thumb thumb pluck pluck pattern. Your lesson showed me how. Thanks for this!
I find my playing style most reflects those of Les Claypool and Victor Wooten. I tackled Tommy the Cat early on, about a year after I started playing, and learning the first 20 seconds of U Can't Hold no Groove really helped me encorporate those advanced slap techniques into my own playing. Thanks to those guys, my bass playing is far more advanced than what I would expect after 3 years of playing.
You absolutely nailed this for me, I'm pleased I've found you... one thing though, how far does the action have to be on the bass to master this technique?
Thank you!! The lower definitely makes it easier..but normal action will sound better! Too high is when you are getting to a point where it's going to be a challenge!
Hi, im new to the bass but have 20 years of experience on the guitar. would you recommend buying a four or a fifth string bassguitar? For Blues/Rock/Metal. best regards!

I dig watching these videos and I don't even play bass 😂 Im just a music junky and like seeing how these musicians do it. Have you done Jaco yet?
On the list! Will have to get my hand on a fretless for that one....:)
Can u do how to play bass like Marcus miller
Bro you should do one of these for Joe Dart! You already have some killing ghost notes in your vocab that resembles him so you are halfway there lol
Joe Dart is overrated as fuck. Just putting it out there.
@@ForeverAlone79 completely disagree, he should be even more "rated". But I guess that goes from personal preference/playing stile that you like
@@ForeverAlone79 tbh i feel like he should be loved even more, what he brings to his tracks with vulfpeck and the fearless flyers is so amazing to me

Why doesn't Victor Wooten technique/practice add the right hand ring finger too to pop the strings? (Or does he also?)
Hi, im new to the bass but have 20 years of experience on the guitar. would you recommend buying a four or a fifth string bassguitar? For Blues/Rock/Metal. best regards!
My favorite "from Victor is You are only 1/2 step away from a right note
I'd love to see Tosin Abasi and Victor Wooten do a collab.

Hey bro, how long have you been in music?
How can you teach me how to play bass guitar sir
You have light gauge strings to do all this easily though, right? I think Victor uses 40-100 doesn’t he?
Be back in a couple of months for the second pluck finger
Like Number 600.
Can you slap like Quintin Berry?
im able to follow up to 2:40 ... and then my thumb nopes out :D

Would love to play me some Primus in the style of Victor. Eat your heart Claypool, you bong head carpenter Fk.
I just know Steve Jobs also plays bass
You can’t hold no groove if you don’t got pockets.
