I was 9 years old when this aired. As I got older shows like this went right over my head. So funny how comedy, music, and tv shows took more precedence over truth and knowledge back for me back then.
Hey...U not the only one. I was 11 years old when this aired. But, as I got older into my late teens, shows like this caught my attention. What did the bible say? "As a child, I thought as a child, but when I became a man..."
I miss Tony Brown's Journal. That brother was always on point & thorough. Shows like Tony Brown, Gil Noble & Listervelt Middleton are desperately needed today.
Only discovered this guy Tony Brown today ? Wow knowledge in schools compared to the World Wide Web , we live in a time of copious information, im grateful ❤✨
Tony Brown is on fire!! So smart, so intelligent, and forcefully answers every question with authority! I sure would love to hear what he has to say about CRT, Colin Kap, Kyrie Irving, and Ye! Wake up Black America, wake up from your slumber!!
I remember watching the Show in the 70 and 80 with my parents and siblings watching the Tony Brown journal I learned a lot I'm glad I grew up watching this show we need more Black shows Today 2021
We are so lost. After 40-50 years we are still gossiping about current affairs instead of addressing and solving our foundational concerns. Tony Brown eloquently expressed what should be our primary concern -- the Black family structure -- and we glossed right over it. Who is running for president, how they get their money, the merging of HBCUs with white colleges, and social programs mean nothing if our family structures aren't fixed and we don't learn to create real communities. As far as I'm concerned, that's all we should've been talking about then, and it's all we should be talking about now. If you and three others are kidnapped and put into a dungeon, in the dungeon you would not be talking about current affairs and what you all saw on the news last night. You'd only be talking about solving your collective problem (How to get out of the dungeon?). Likewise, because fixing the Black family is the most important aspect of our liberation, that is all we should talk about.
The information and questions provided by this program is totally imperative to pertinent still today 12/28/2023.The truths they have acknowledged have suffered even more attacks to undergird the most vital necessities that keep African Americans heritage and culture fundamentally intact.
I found it interesting he mentioned the black church saved the history of African Americans in this country. As a music fan, I always felt an immense movement in the cultural impact it had on so much music that followed it. What I didn't realize til recent years was how from birth til death there were so many people that religion was all they ever had they could call their own. Say what you want about religion but in its unblemished form history has shown it can be the foundation of personal/social cultural prosperity and art.
Roma Erb. Candice Owens is not Afro American, she is a West Indian. She does not come from the Afro American ADOS struggle so when she speaks she is simply running off at the mouth talking all this nonsense trying to make islanders seem better than the ADOS population when west Indians did not build this country from the ground up nor did they go through chattel slavery or Jim Crow segregation in this country. She is an example of primarily why the white power structure let foreign blacks into this country and grant them access to resources and benefits they didn't earn. The aim is to make America look less racist and discriminatory as it relates to Black people.
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 as relevant now , as it was then , what does that tell us🤨🤨🤨🤨..................great re-share , thank you , for sharing..................p.s. TONY BROWN was as sharp as a tack , and i'm not just referring to his attire......................
NAACP legal defense (section was disbanded) over Image (Hollywood) NAACP. I needed NAACP in New York, never got a reply. Would that have happened when Huston and Thurgood were there? No lawyers to fight cases, cases are what got us what we needed.
NAACP has been worthless for some time. Just partying, shows, and fundraising for the next party. There are no real civil rights organizations that really care for the Black community.
We desperately need more journalist integrity like Tony Brown. Sadly, there's only clout chasing and career-oriented people, than those who care about current issues...
Everything stated on this panel has came to be Factual and prophetic; Jesse did deliver the vote to the DNC and I see Dr.C West being a stick shaker to the dominant political parties and we all can see what's becoming of the educational system..
Going On A Lion Hunt written by Tracy Clark is found on amazon (the rewind version) the script is for US by US, to be utilized as a learning tool--show of force, and needs to be put on as a show of force in every school district, in every state. Displays self love. hugs

Jeremiah, there are just as many smart shows on TV now as there were when this show was on; you have to _look_ for them, and when you see them, support them.
Black because it is inclusive. Includes mix race, aboriginal, dark skin, light skin and every color in between. Some of everyone mentioned above would deny African heritage.
Local NAACP referred me to a lawyer who said for $15,000 he'd take the case. The local NAACP decided to revere, award the 2 County Commissioners that were responsible for kicking a Black single mother off the public bus--for their in group opinion, no legal reason--no statutes were broken, interrupted, if anything the in group broke laws and tried to ignore them while they were being investigated by PHRC State (I filed and one department charged them with negatively stereotyping a Black lady, while the supervisor let the in group evade conviction). Anyhow, with average White family clocking in at $171,000 and average Black family w/$17,000, that says it all. Kicked me off the bus with no due process, perjury, and no testimony from bus driver actually driving bus because he was a Black man--and didn't join in on their in group lynching. Supervisor at PHRC hurried and closed the investigation once the Back man bus driver mysteriously died--with no statement because they didn't want his statement of what took place. NAACP, PHRC, everyone has to follow the Mo ney. Poor babies. journalisttracy
if I watch this back in 1984 (I probably did) hit may head went into a coma a week later, then woke up 37 later (2021) not a thing would had change for Black people except the Crack Attack.
Intelligent discourse like this is no longer allowed on television
I was just thinking this we have to change discourse we used to hear real opinions, people are waking up tho
Tony Brown is a great man as a young kid that used to come visit my grandparents I grew up on Tony Brown on PBS

I can relate! I was 11 years old
When you're a child, you think as a child.

He was always on in our household.
Miss those days of respectful dialog and commentary.
This is some really good information and is relevant in 2023. I would like to know how to push these ideas through for our future black children...
I love watching Tony Brown's Journal as a child it was actually my favorite program. 💓 I adore Mr.Brown

There needs more of discussion about how vocational education was taken out of schools, which hurt the black community disproportionately.

Tony Brown said that in 1908 America had lost confidence in democratic principles. America never had confidence in democratic principles.
