An interesting discussion, but I wouldn’t expect anything less from Tony Brown. At least someone said it: the “southern strategy” is what prompted blacks to leave the Republican Party in droves. However, what’s more interesting is that as uncomfortable as some of us were in voting for Republicans that we voted Democratic, just a few years after this taping we would get things like “Three Strikes” from the Clinton Administration. On top of that were the numerous economic opportunities lots of Black people lost via the implementation of NAFTA. Thirty years later I’m still unaffiliated: the Republicans still say “why bother with the Black vote” and the Democrats still say “we already have the black vote.” So there’s still no action and nothing gets done to benefit us. The buzzword/term used to be “politically correct”; now it’s “CRT.” The Southern Strategy lives on. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Pay ATTENTION to the man''s response at 15:36 ! This is the KEY to where much of the Black Community has fallen! Subconsciously "dependent" on Public Assistance became the "drug of choice" !
Time change, all bad. I was 14 teen and could not go to school. The government got in and helped my mother. I finished school. Affirmative action helped my family.
I really miss these intelligent, respectful, thought-provoking conversations amongst adults!
