Maintaining the current situation is often more dangerous than taking calculated risks to improve it. Every single one of us should apply that rule immediately. I absolutely will from this day onward....

This video does an excellent job distilling down Machiavelli's book, The Prince, to core principles. It also emphasizes the need to be aware of how some bad actors will behave in and around us.
@5:53 Principle 6: The importance of timing
    • develop my intuition to reach conclusions quicker and act on them
@6:17 Principle 7: Managing your circle
    • recruit people who have high quality networks and associates/associations
The Video Title doesn't have an apostrophe after "Machiavelli" to make SEO more effective...

He wrote “The Prince” with Monarchs in mind, not CEOs. I guess you can sort of apply some of his work to today but it was meant for an entirely different purpose: that of ruler.

These days, I consider his point that even if you want to be a "good prince", you have to be willing to lower yourself to the moral level of your opponent, because that lack of morality gives you a power. It is a problem for Democrats because their prince is the Constitution, an inherently moral document. Now you can say there are many reasons Trump won and Harris lost, but without the massive dishonesty and misinformation of the Right Wing Media machine, including the Koch brother's institutions, Trump would not have won the close election. Machiavelli would have simply said "lying works".
