Boomerang in the comics respects flash. It's a much more interesting relationship. Imagine Boomer having a quiet moment for his fallen enemy. Instead of him pissing on his corpse.
Imagine killing one of the people you’ve known for the longest and immediately whipping it out. Plus, Flash generally has a better relationship with his rogues than other heroes. So it’s more like killing your friend and immediately whipping it out😂
Velma twerking over Fred's mother's corpse has some stiff competition for most egregious disrespect of beloved properties. That and Luke drinking the green milk.
Yup the Rogues respect and borderline friendship with the Flash is what makes their rivalry unique for villains. They’re not evil and they don’t massacre civilians for fun, they’re just bad people chasing a score in fact a lot of the time they actively avoid murder
@@thataintfalco7106it’s not even that. Boomerang is whipping it out in public, witch a crew that border on being strangers. Boom rang is going to told to take a seat by Chris Hanson.
15:41 One of the worst moments is when Batman's "I am vengeance, I am the night. I am Batman" quote is turned into a repetitive catchphrase even though it was something the DCAU version of him said once in one episode of the animated series and Arkham Batman only said at the end of Knight.
I actually don't mind it being said more than once myself. My issue is more how, yeah, they turn it into a joke later. Plus, of course, how they send off Batman in general.
One thing I'd like to mention about the game that I don't think I've heard people talk about, is how it depicted Brainiac. I thought the design was kind of interesting and I really love Jason Isaacs as the voice actor, but the dialogue and portrayal was really weird. Since when does Brainiac want to restore Colu? What he wants in the comics is to collect worlds in order to enhance his knowledge. His home planet is irrelevant to him. That felt more like something General Zod would do. Also my problem with his dialogue was that it felt too casual and often funny, when Brainiac is supposed to be cold and calculating.
Brainiac wanting to collect knowledge by stealing planets never really made sense to me. It's not like he asks nicely first he attacks us. And I'm not sure if you know this but city scaled fights that end in the partial destruction of said city is an excellent way to destroy knowledge. Sure terra forming is a little outside brainiac's wheel house it is always nice to see a new version of a character (provided the writers know what they are doing).
@eltoro2150 Typically, Brainiac destroys planets after collecting their knowledge, so as to make said knowledge rarer. He doesn't just want to possess ultimate knowledge, he wants to ensure he's the *only* one who possesses such knowledge.
There is dialogue that hints at Brainiac collecting the people he takes. In the final echo audio Brainiac tells his soldiers to add the civilians they capture to his 'archives'. There is also a theroy that the Justice League members that you kill during the game are actually duplicates and that Brainiac keeps the originals in his collection.
@@honestkyn718 Making perfect clones is probably more difficult than just splicing the DNA into his troops. Kryptonian DNA is famously difficult to clone, hence the existence of Bizarro, and why Superboy is only half Kryptonian.
What’s crazy is both Gotham knights and this game could’ve been way better(maybe) if they switched studios, rocksteady keeps Arkham family , WB get live service suicide squad
@@RacingSnails64 Bat-cow would have fit on perfectly. We could have her after the Batman mission and have some actually funny jokes from Ivy about Bat-cow eating her plants.
I think one of the worst problems about the story is a common one that happens to any story with the "smartest person in the world/universe" trope. Brainiac is not smart. Normally, he would want to bottle up cities or entire planets to add to his collection which also adds to his knowledge, while casting aside anything irrelevant. When done right, Brainiac is a formidable opponent because he will pursue this goal until it has been proven that he is outmatched, and he'll just leave to regroup and come back. Changing his motivation from this and making it so that he wants to build a new Colu isn't necessarily bad, but now we need to know why Earth is so special. There are countless planets which would have been closer to Colu and more closely resembling Colu, so why not choose any of those? The real problem is introduced when we find out he has access to multiversal travel. Like, hey forehead, if you wanted to bring back Colu and you can *access the multiverse* why not just find a dimension that has it and go there, or just pull it into our dimension? It's nonsensical at this point to invade Earth when there are easier and better decisions available for him. Even if he still maintained his original motivation, it would still be stupid of him to pursue the invasion of Earth as he did in the game. Once he discovers alternative universes, all with unique knowledge, he would simply try to take over each planet in each dimension on his own. Why involve twelve other versions of himself when he of all people should know that he isn't trustworthy? Every single one of them would want to kill the others and collect all of that knowledge for themselves. This points us to the foundational problem of the game, though. The GaaS model directly pushes back against the story they wanted to tell. It became necessary at some point to make the story not make sense because there's no proper *satisfying* way to make the campaign stretch out for twelve seasons. If you don't fight Brainiac at the end, that would be disappointing, so we have to nerf him a little to be arrogant enough to not realize when the battle is lost. But if we kill him at the end of the game and that's the end of it, we still need a villain for the twelve seasons-- so we just have to make it be twelve Brainiacs. But, we also can't have them fighting each other because that messes with our story, so they inexplicably team up while also not really helping each other when one of them dies. At every turn there's just poor decision after poor decision, and I do truly believe it's because they wanted to make a battlepass/seasonal DLC model. The story could have been interesting if not impeded by that decision alone.
Exactly is how I feel if they want a 12 he's a freaking robot just make 12 different versions of him as a robot and let him conquer the planet not the multiverse
You just perfectly summarized every problem with this Brainiac and why he's such a lameass compared to other versions, namely his Injustice 2 counterpart. His personality also leaves a lot to be desired, just being short of a Saturday morning cartoon villain.
Seeing as how there's a multiverse and they wanted modern Harley, i think it would've been possible to introduce her as a multiverse variant from a universe where Batman died in Arkham city instead of Joker and the latter entered a depression and became more agressive, Harley realised Joker didnt love her and left him and then teamed up with the Bat family to take him down and became somewhat reformed (not without her regrets though, after all she killed a bunch of people), i imagine she'd be introduced at 1/3 of the campaign and would acompany the squad for a bit trying to reform base Harley, but failing as she would betray the squad because of Brainiac crearly false promise of bringing back Joker, Waller explodes the bomb in her head and she gets replaced by variant Harley, ultimately she'd die for someone that never loved her, turning her into a somewhat tragic character and an irredimible Harley compared to other versions
Having a universe where Arkham Batman does during City totally undermines the story and themes of the original trilogy. Just don't have this game tie into Arkham at ALL! There, fixed!
In terms of tone, the game definitely has Family Guy syndrome. Constant joke after joke while also wanting to have emotional scenes, but is simultaneously too scared to commit to any, so they're all just punctuated with a (99% of the time shitty) joke. They're trying to have their cake & eat it too, which just doesn't work, especially in the context of the damn Arkham-verse. 💀
Or like Thor Love and Thunder. Too much humor(Humor is fine it serves a purpose) but overloading it in a serious film or franchise just makes it look dumb.
To me something that sticks out is that the whole "Stop an apocolyptic threat, save the world" isn't what the Suicide Squad does. They're meant to be a black ops team doing high risk missons for ARGUS and Waller's agenda. That's one of the things the 2020 film did better than the 2016 one; sure it did end in a battle with Starro, but setting him loose was an accident and Waller wanted the Squad to infiltrate the lab it was imprisoned in and obtain a file Waller wanted to squash. I've said it in comments for other videos but what might have been a better move for an arkhamverse Suicide Squad game would be to consider returning to the TITAN formula; it was the big thing with Asylum, while not as prominent it had a notable role in City and even in Origins Project TN-1 was clearly a precursor to TITAN. So perhaps someone who was working to clean up after the Aslyum disaster, found Joker's notes from his experiments (not Dr Young's notes, but presumably Joker had to write some stuff down when he was perfecting the formula), and because that's where Venom comes from, these notes ended up in Santa Prisca. So Waller sends the Suicide Squad into Santa Prisca, to fight maybe Bane's mercenaries, maybe Kobra, maybe even there's a whole host of different villainous organisations fighting for control over the TITAN, including a late game reveal that, rather than Waller playing the Batman role of trying to stamp out TITAN, she wants to get her hands on the perfected formula to use for ARGUS' interests. Going with Santa Prisca would also afford the "map devoid of non enemy NPC's" thing the Arkham Games tend to do, without a madnatory curfew, evacuation or the entire population of Metropolis being killed off, since like Asylum it'd be a prison on an island (it'd kinda be a return to roots for the Arkham games)
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this should’ve been a Teen Titans game, cause first off I feel like we need more Teen Titans outside of comics and it feels like DC has been pushing the Suicide Squad way too much lately (I could swear DC has been pushing them more than the freaking Justice League), but aside from that, I don’t buy for a second that this Squad could ever beat a mind controlled Justice League meanwhile the Teen Titans definitely could’ve when they’ve got members that can counteract the League, just look at Wally West, plus if we were fighting a mind controlled League as the Titans then we could’ve saved them instead of killing them in their first appearance in this universe (and in Batman’s case, his big reappearance), and maybe the final battle could’ve allowed us to play as the League by bringing back Batman’s Arkham Knight play style, and giving Superman, Flash, and Wonder Woman the same as Superboy, Wally West, and Wonder Girl (not sure about Green Lantern though (edit:after my brother brought it up, maybe they could do that for Green Lantern with Blue Beetle, I mean the Scarab functions somewhat similarly to a Green Lantern ring so…)), and if we absolutely have to have at least one League member die then have Batman sacrifice himself to defeat Brainiac so he gets a more respectable ending
@@LucasHopkins2006 A plot device, the beginning of the story is supposed to be more of this doom and gloom depressing story just for the story to eventually have players regain hope seeing their favorite heroes come back. 100000% I’m imagining a game where Nightwing is recruiting Donna Troy, Wally west, Kyle raner and either superboy or supergirl That’s an amazing game right there
They really just try to follow dceu harley from margo robby,. She even states that she "hates" joker and is angry with her ex and such.. it doesn't at all fit with the arkham continuity

Deadshot in this game interrupts himself to congratulate Captain Boomerang (A guy who he finds annoying and clowny in the lore) on "Having a large weiner". 😂
Injustice 2 did the brainiac storyline so much bettter I feel they tried to fit Arkham’s nostalgia into something that wasn’t made to be an Arkham game.the game honestly would’ve fit better if they treated this storyline as an alternate ending to injustice 2 and connected it to that
These are important issues! It being in it's own universe would have fixed everything! I would still hate to see the Justice League get killed, but it would be better then what we got!
Great video. The Arkham connection is completely unnecessary, and Brainiac being shown earlier and showing the Squad what the League is going through could have been used to make their deaths more respectful. Great points 👍
9:20 AVGN put it best in a video where a game reveals a legendary boss in the room before you fight him. He compared the ridiculousness to if Zelda64 revealed Ganondorf right before you fight him, because it might as well be another random enemy
None of the people that made the Arkham Series even worked on Suicide Squad. It's like you said, the Arkham Series was only implemented in the game only to be used as a marketing ploy to get a pre-existing fan base to buy this game.
This is a lie, almost all of the team that worked on Arkham Knight worked on Suicide Squad. Their names are listed in the credits. Including Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker.
also king shark was killed in the arkhamverse which resulted in kid shark wanting to take revenge, captain boomerang was killed by the white deadshot, they were surprised to be taken by waller despite the suicide squad existing already.
My ssktjl rewrite: The Game starts like in Arkham Knight with a POV from an unkown man sitting at a helicopter alongside the other Ss members Waller is Heard talking through the comms: "we managed to create an opening on Brainiac's shield, but it's temporary, it's a Matter of time before it-" sudeenly a huge explosion is Heard as the helicopter shakes, the shield closed off just as the helicopter got in and now it's falling down due to a missing rotor, the SS members get out but you cant get away in time and the helicopter crashes * Title card+ credits* Tutorial for each character as they get to the Hall of Justice, there they get their traversal equipment and Waller tells them to get to the Crash site as the Heli had a very important laptop for stopping Brainiac, but when you get there you find the POV Guy from the beggining ( Thinkerer)Who was suppose to operate the laptop dead and the laptop missing, Shark smells the trail the laptop left and when following It they encounter Luthor along with the laptop, he explains he stole it BCS It said Argus and though it might be important, Boss Fight, they get the laptop and aprehend Luthor and he tells them that there's a bunker with half of Metropolis hidden in It and with a man smart enough to operate the laptop, Waller orders them to get to the Bunker, they take a detour through the Batman Museum and get taken out by a non brainwashed Batman Who takes the laptop. Regardless they follow Luthor to the Bunker and find out he was telling the truth and meet Gizmo, outside a Battle is Heard as a brainwashed Flash is fighting WW, the Squad fight the Flash in order to avoid her getting captured but GL( Guy Gardner) comes when they're distracted and abducts WW, Flash escapes. They realise they're screwed as a brainwashed WW Will know the bunker's location and decide to head back to the Hall, there they make a plan to get the attention of Batman so that way they can get the laptop back asap, kill GL, they track him down, Boss Fight, the excuse i imagine as to why he wont kill them right away is that his Will power allows him to snap out of the brainwashed state for a couple of seconds, allowing him to make less lethal constructions and giving the squad time to land a few hits on him, at the end they kill him, Batman arrives, he scalds the Squad and tells them that Waller is not a good person and that they can do better, he leaves but the squad put a tracker on him, they follow him to the batcave, they sneak past him and steal the laptop along with some kryptonite, Luthor stays behind to distract Batman. The Squad get to a Radio tower and with the help of Gizmo Connect the laptop, they return to the Bunker to defend It from the incoming League attack and find Batman along with a beaten Up Luthor, Bruce explains that the shield covering Metropolis stopped any outside interference, and that the laptop connected Argus to Metropolis' military base, with the laptop now active she's free to use nuclear arsenal from inside the shield meaning Waller is planing to nuke Brainiac's ship, killing the Evil Mastermind along with any remaining survivors in the city. At that moment the brainwashed WW arrives, Bruce goes to get the batjet hoping to lead Superman to the nuke while the Squad defend the bunker, boss Fight, they manage to tople over a building onto WW, knocking her out, Superman arrives at the bunker but Batman gets his attention and leads him to the nuke, Sups deveates it to the sky and It explodes, avoiding any damage to neither the ship nor the city, the Squad before leaving to find him are given Kryptonite bullets by Luthor "kill him, it's what you do best", they arrive at a crater and find a Superman weakend by the radiation, Boss Fight, by the end of the Fight the Squad is pointing a gun at a vulnerable Sups, Waller tells them to kill him but Batman's words echoed in their minds "you're better than this", they decide not to pull the trigger and a defeated man of steel escapes, the team regroup at the batcave and get new gear, their new mission, is to kill Brainiac. They infiltrate the ship along with Batman after defeating the Flash and while Batman goes to Brainiac's computer in order to deactivate his control over the League, the Squad fight him in a room he calls the Chamber, Boss Fight (and no, it wouldnt be a Flash re-skin). They defeat him and the ship starts breaking down, Brainiac shambles to the computer in order to instantly explode ship, Batman closes the door to the Chamber, locking himself inside along with Brainiac and tells them that if they stay to Fight him, they along with every city Brainiac conquered Will be destroyed, he'll stay behind to buy them time and ends off the chat saying he's proud of what they've done today, the Squad have no time to mourn and quickly escape the exploding ship carrying the cities. The day is saved and Metropolis builds a statue in honor of Batman and GL, the remaining JL members are put on recovery while the Squad are left to clean Up the city having gained a sense of honor and diginity. Ps: in my version Deadshot is the og white one, meaning i'd remove the whole daughter thing and keep his backstory of killing his brother, aaaand i'd remove Harley from the team, maybe she'd be dlc but for the story she really doesnt fit, no harley could kill tge JL much less the Arkham version
How to improve Gameplay: - more enemies: enemy bomber that explodes when killed, medic enemy that heals troops, and a mix of the two that when killed cures nearby troops. In addition i'd add mini bosses that copy some abilities from the JL(for example an enemy with laser eyes, another one with slightly increased speed, an enemy with wings like Hawkgirl, etc) and ones that are mutated animals from the Metropolis zoo (i imagine a Tiger, Elephant and Gorilla) - more Game modes: team deathmatch, two teams compete to see Who can do a list of objectives faster. Survival, survive waves of enemies, with each passing wave the difficulty increases. Backstab, compete amongst your own team to see Who can kill the most enemies, in this Mode you can place landmines to damage your team, dying Will reset you progress.
I'm a scriptwriter and always looking at potential job postings for writers. Long after the first trailer came out for this game, there was a sudden stream of job postings for scriptwriters for the game asking for people skilled in story and dialogue. I had hopes for this game, but when I saw that LONG AFTER the trailer, i knew things were bad and this game was dead in the water. If you're looking for writers after you already released a trailer... well...
I didn't mind much of the humor myself. And as someone who likes the best of the MCU's humor, I don't really think that's much of a problem. I don't like this game, but not for the humor.
What bothers me is they take one of Supermans greatest arch enemies Brainaic besides Lex Luthor make him a villain for the squad and in my head im thinking " Was this suppose to be a Superman plot ? "
My head cannon reason Harley doesn't wear her old costume is because she knows it won't fit her anymore due to how much her chest has shrunk between this and the Batman games.
They could have explain her overall physical Body being different as not just a change in direction by the devs, but by explaining she’s out of shape. She been incarcerated for Five years in maximum security prison, Arkham definitely doesn’t have a gym area or anything like that due to it’s nature as an asylum and for safety reasons. In knight Harley looks and plays(during her dlc campaign) like someone who’s a gymnast and is very proficient in acrobatics. I’m not saying she’s fat, but her body isn’t at the peak performance it was when she was a free. This explanation also works for her changes in posture and overall body language.
So I never actually played any of the arkham games. I couldn't explain why. They just all passed me by. When experiencing the story, I was unaware this was set in an existing universe. Given the premise I'd never ever have done that because that's... well... freaking stupid. Why would you go out of your way to say "This is the batman you knew and loved for like 2 decades. Let's kill him horribly." I just assumed this was a brand new universe which is why we were treating all these heroes so horribly.
even though I personally enjoyed the game you spoke no lies especially about this game shouldn't had been part of the Arkhamverse it really shouldn't have , it would have done so much better and would have avoided so much controversy if it wasn't part of the Arkhamverse
This was the criticism I was looking for your spot on with Harley and I agree 100% Arkham Harley was the darkest version of Harley and the writers seemed to completely forget that
This game should have been Batman coming out of the shadows to try and save the Justice League and save the world from Brainiac. Maybe Dick, Tim, and even Jason tries to help. ( I know Jason is still broken, but maybe this could be a redemption arc for him to fight along side them and feel like family... that it isn't too late) So you can keep it online and have 4 established characters join the fight against the strongest heroes to ever walk the earth. Also maybe as you beat the league you can have them as playable characters, ( someone would have to play batman though, but I do not think people would have a problem with that ). Its not much, but its some ground work for a more intriguing story that ijs unique, yet familiar. Great video, keep it up man!
I was thinking the roadmap of this game has two new bosses coming which shows green lantern and superman so I’m theorising that they will both have the same mechanics as the ones that have been defeated by the squad before.
Absolutely. Its re-skin boss fights. Thats the 1st season “content” Replay the Superman and GL boss fight but now its one of 13 Brainiac variants like the Flash Brainiac. So dumb But players get an alternate Joker (Jonkler with they/them pronouns and is masking insecurities) to replay the same 3 missions and escort busses slowly through empty city shooting purple puke. Lmao. What a joke game.
Oh man. I was right, BUT its somehow worse, they are charging money to unlock Jonkler faster. OMG. SMH 🤦 And the “new boss fight” is reskin Green Lantern as Brainiac…. OMG what a trash game.
Update. You were right. 1st season launched other day and its Green Lanterns reskin boss fight with Brainiac copying GL fight. Also they charging 10$ to unlock Jonkler without the boring grind.
It just ocurred to me that switching the protagonist between this and Gotham Knights would have been better. Think about it, the Suicide Squad takes over Gotham after Batman's death is more their thing, while Nightwing and Co helping Wonder Woman free the Justice League from Braniac's control would work as well, and it would have been more respectful towards these characters at the end of the day.
By this point I'm sure devs are obligated to work with them if they want additional funding from publishers. And by "work" I mean submit their stories to DEI butcher. Unless there's no need for that anymore... Man, it's painfull to watch.

They're really trying to make it seem like a legit game and system seller. Like anything for "modern audiences" it's meant to trick you. You see it being bundled with every new PS5, the box art is almost identical to the great first game, which is basically Arkham 4: Spiderman... Only when you actually sit down and play it (After you payed for everything, of course $$$) do you realize it's a sweet baby inc written game with obvious downgrades to the first game. I thought the instant loading was kinda cool, but then I found out it was introuced in Spiderman: Miles Morales 😂

Really good critique here, bringing up and diving a fair amount in about a number of the truly big issues of what constructs this game. That said, I may be the only one here but- this game literally made me say out loud “Oh god, just shut up already Batman” after the 10th radio chatter of him because no one in this game shuts up. And then I hated myself because Batman is my 2nd fav superhero and Kevin Conroy was a big part of mine and I’m sure many other’s childhood. This game made me tell one of my fav fictional superheroes to shut up. Then it made me hate myself for doing so, before realizing I should be hating that part of the experience, which I can accept. Still something no one should experience. Especially after paying over 70 bucks for this. Last thing; say what you want about the SS in either movie or any comic adaptation, but still found it wheird that no one on the squad dies here. Online/ game as a service/loop yada yada I know, but still pretty weird. Ironically the namesake fits the JL here seeing as they’re the actual ones who die, but, sigh.
5:25 You're wrong about Ivy and Harley go rewatch we Harley let out ivy in Arkham asylum. Also if you understand IVY dynamic you won't understand what she meant by Harley and ivy forever They were literally school BFF and both became doctors together
You got to take the whole ‘live service’ thing into account. Season 1: Kill the fake Justice League Season 2: Rescue the real Justice League Season 3: Stop Brainiac
I think if this really happends they should have called the game "Suicide Squad: Assault on Brainiac" like, how wierd will it be "Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League" but u dont, like bruh
For the players sake you better hope it even gets to a season 3 to flesh out its incomplete narrative. We already saw WB shelve (temporarily..?) Multiversus after its player base drop to a few hundred people playing on all available platforms.
I think batman changing his mind and joining the justice league kind of makes sense. He activated knight fall because there needed to be something bigger than just the batman, and that’s what the justice league is, it’s all of them together.
Since the multiverse has such a presence in the story, I wish Brainiac's brainwashed heroes were all from different universes. Like one is from the nazi run Earth-X, another is from villain world Earth-3, or someone from a goofy Silver Age world or post-apocalyptic one. This would have been much more entertaining watching the Squad kill them.
Maybe an Injustice style universe where all the heroes are part of a regime (or maybe a cross dimensional team where half are from Superman's regime while the other half is lead by a Batman who turned bad {see 4th snake's wasted plotential on injustice where he pitches a version where batman is the antagonist}) or maybe the inhabitants of the world where Superman won Injustice 2 (which was used for that He-Man crossover comic).
I like how you incorporated feedback into the video! I agree with introducing Brainiac early on and having his attempts to sway the Squad be more important. It would fit into the whole "don't be a hero" tagline of the story and fit how the main characters are morally ambiguous. Plus, there would be greater stakes!

You're completely wrong about Harley. She did have solo adventures in the form of DLC in Arkham City and the whole of Arkham Knight also her saying "Harley and ivy forever" is her talking about her friendship
You completely misunderstood his point. He addresses the dlc you mentioned because the dlc revolves around her plot to get revenge against batman for joker. @@sweetvue1716 I repeat, "she was not doing anything on her own FOR HERSELF". I admit that I misread the portion about Arkham knight, but her actions in the main story were dedicated to bringing back joker through those who were infected. This is why I emphasize "for herself" because the criticism of the video is how she had no opportunity to build a reputation that revolved around her own goals that were independent of the joker, signifying her rediscovering her own individuality. In the actual universe, the events of AK last over the course of almost one night, just like all the other games, so how could she have had time to build a significant reputation as solo criminal?
@@sweetvue1716 The thing is that you bring up this point like he does not address it, when he does mention what harley did and everything was tied to the joker. If it really is just semantics then that is what the majority of your argument is based on. a simple fix for the marketing so the same story could be actually kept in its entirety (except for chiming in brainiac more and earlier) would be to call the game "task force x" and have the kill the justice league aspect be a surprise reveal, where during marketing the tought keeps being "how did brainiac invade metropolis?" only to reveal by mind controlling the JL and forcing the suicide squad to (though despite hating them with a passion) reluctantly kill them
It should have been a Teen Titans game and Batman should have been playing Brainiac all along like he did with Darkseid in many comics. That man has unbreakable will and is pretty much immune to mind control.
Your review and breakdown was absolutely perfect. Compared to the other reviews I’ve watched which I also agreed with but just the way you present what they should’ve done and the underlying premise of the game makes more sense to me. Great work!
When I saw the leaks of what they did to batman, I knew I was not going to love this game: as one of Kevin Conroy's last performances, he deserved better. Then there's also the whole lewter shooter aspect, and the desecration of our favorite superheroes, and the glitches
I really enjoyed exploring this metropolis it has a really good dynamic with rocksteadys Gotham, even in crisis metropolis looks very inviting and hopeful
There’s a continuity error that was found in Suicide Squad. Because in the Arkham Knight dlc of Red Hood, one of Black Mask’s men says, “It’s the guy who took out Killer Moth!”. Yet in Suicide Squad, if Amanda Waller detonates the bomb in your brain, you can hear her say, “Get Killer Moth!” Meaning that he is somehow alive now? Which could make sense if it’s a copycat, or he was resurrected, or if it’s from a completely different world entirely.
I did not like the fact that boomerang did that to flash’s corpse but ngl kings shark “makes sense the gifs have cursed you in any other way” line was hilarious to me 😭
I wouldn’t be surprised if Rocksteady tried to fix this with a dlc that involves time travel, like going back to the time before the JL became brainwashed and save them. But I highly doubt it, with this game being live service I don’t think it will be online for long. Even if they did do that, the damage is done! Kevin is sadly no longer with us so I don’t think they would recast him, it would not go very well if they did.
Characters in this game don't even move like they did in the previous Arkham games! Forget the stupid narrative and the disrespect. They didn't even do what that crappy Marvel's avengers game did!! All the characters are more or less the same. Even their personalities are similar! Instead of the character's specific talents and powers we get machine guns! Imagine Thor went around shooting enemies!!! It's just another brainless looter shooter with DC skin and a colorful environment. They didn't just piss on the Flash. They pissed on Arkham's legacy...
Brainiac in this game is completely different from his comic counterpart. He's about collecting knowledge from every world he comes across, stealing important locations and destroying the remnants. He's never been about recreating his own world throughout the multiverse. He's done mind control before, but that's the only thing besides him being a smart alien with a skull ship he kept.
Brainiac should have had multiple phases to his boss fight. First flash, then lantern, then Supes, then batman, then finally him. All the cloned phases being the move sets on crack.
Trying to tie this game into the arkham universe is basically trying to untangle a giant mess of ties and nots, u eill never make sense out of any of it..
Ok so the only thing is if you watch when flashes thumb came off boomerang didn’t mean it and in his minds it did just come off so that explains that but other than that valid points
I think the way you described the Waller and Brainiac similarities is how they will change it to Suicide Squad Save the Justice League in an expansion when they realise that the JL were being controlled just like they were.
I respect you big for criticizing the points that matter. A lot of online discourse is all about how Kevin Conroy was somehow "disrespected" or gender politics, but you actually hit the nail on the head as to why the story doesn't land. It sucks that a DC game featuring some of my fav lesser known characters came out bad.
you know they are just going to reskin the justice league fights and funny enough there are 13 brainiacs and 5 justice leaague members. what about the other 9 after they are done with the 4 more reskins
Here’s my idea for a Suicide Squad rewrite: Brainiac touches down in Metropolis and takes control of the Justice League. Waller sends in the Squad, things proceed as canon. Wonder Woman has been corrupted by Brainiac, and resists his influence thanks to her Lasso of Truth. This is an incidental change, but I think it flows the story a little better. Also, notably, Batman is still presumed dead. He’s memorialized in the Hall of Justice, having already been a part-time League member. This makes it a genuine shock to them when he reveals himself, alive and also under Brainiac’s control, apparently having failed in a stealth mission against him. The Squad later infiltrates the Batcave and peruse Bruce’s files, but skip through vital sections before they’re interrupted by him. The fight occurs, and the Squad wins. Which is even more shocking! They can’t believe that they actually managed to beat Batman. But throughout the battle he seemed to have periodic seizures, paralyzing moments which opened windows of attack. After their victory they take the damaged files with them, hoping to repair them and gain a further edge over the remaining League. They eventually kill him, as in the game. “Batman is dead. …Again.” However, once the files are finally fully repaired, we learn of Bruce’s Final Protocol. It’s revealed that he’d originally faked his death not only to protect his family but to plot a contingency against Brainiac. Some time prior, the Batman of Earth-2 had managed to send a communique warning him of the oncoming threat, giving him time to prepare. With the application of Scarecrow’s fear gas and intense mental discipline, Bruce had managed to sabotage his own abduction. Exposing himself to Brainiac on his terms by feigning a stealth mission, he’d slipped a trump card through the alien’s defenses. His death activated a chaotic presence, disrupting Vril Dox’s mind as laughter begins to echo from the Skull Ship… the Joker. Essentially lobotomizing himself, Batman had segmented the portion of his psyche containing the imprint of his nemesis which he’d successfully suppressed in Arkham Knight, releasing it like a virus into Brainiac’s perfectly ordered neural network. This causes the invader’s defenses to fail as he fights against the psychotic presence, enabling the Squad to break into Brainiac’s ship and beats him. In the end, they acknowledge that this is Batman’s victory, his sacrifice enabling their triumph.
I enjoyed the evil Batman performance by Kevin Conroy, I just wish it wasn’t constantly overlayed with messages from the handlers and the rest of the Squad, usually at the same time.
so apparently theres several calanders in the game, all are marked with a date and number, apparently this is calander man,and if you put all those numbers in order of the locations you find them, where batman gets killed there is a hidden calander with a batman logo on it;and all these numbers when translated to the alphabet spell out:HE WILL RETURN;all 12 calanders spell this, calander man has been involved in big easter eggs, looks like a completely intentional calander add
I never played the game but I watched all the cut scenes and my favorite parts were Wonder Woman and Flash. Scenes like Flash treating the SS like they arn't even remotely a threat to him and casually rip out Luthor's heart is terrifying while watching Wonder Woman die to Superman while they just stand there powerless to do anything really nails the mere mortals trying to take down gods atmosphere.
Glad I waited. I am an Arkham fan but based on other things I have seen on youtube I decided to wait to see if I'd like it. Not that I was gonna get this game anyways cause killing your favorite heroes as villains doesn't sound like my kinda thing 😅
The real question is, when are you rewriting/rebuilding this entire concept to fit into your Arkham Knight timeline. Obviously this would have to be a complete redo on every level and a massive undertaking, but I think we would all love to see it. Hell, you can even do it in the original arkham timeline, rather than your rework.
For me it was 2 problem, the "We Want" mindset from the Devs which are: 1) Writers that had no respect to source material and had no idea how to write a story for Arkham. 2) Emphasize on monitization over gameplay. Live Service doesn't sell if your game was not appealing to playerbase. They made this game without thinking of their target audiences. A game made for no one but themselves.
Luckily this Batman didnt have Shark Repellant spray, the world would have ended if Brainiac has that universe's Batman since King Shark never would have gotten 5 feet from Arkham.

He has good terms with pretty much all of his villains except Reverse Flash there is something very messed up with him

15:41 One of the worst moments is when Batman's "I am vengeance, I am the night. I am Batman" quote is turned into a repetitive catchphrase even though it was something the DCAU version of him said once in one episode of the animated series and Arkham Batman only said at the end of Knight.
And one of them was turned into a joke.
It's obvious they had the cliff notes version of BTAS. That's one of the few things they took from it, mutated it, and made up everything else.

@@RacingSnails64 Bat-cow would have fit on perfectly. We could have her after the Batman mission and have some actually funny jokes from Ivy about Bat-cow eating her plants.
Not funny
Damn. Even Injustice 2 introduced Brainiac early and had him show up multiple times in the story to talk to others
And that game was great
Seeing as how there's a multiverse and they wanted modern Harley, i think it would've been possible to introduce her as a multiverse variant from a universe where Batman died in Arkham city instead of Joker and the latter entered a depression and became more agressive, Harley realised Joker didnt love her and left him and then teamed up with the Bat family to take him down and became somewhat reformed (not without her regrets though, after all she killed a bunch of people), i imagine she'd be introduced at 1/3 of the campaign and would acompany the squad for a bit trying to reform base Harley, but failing as she would betray the squad because of Brainiac crearly false promise of bringing back Joker, Waller explodes the bomb in her head and she gets replaced by variant Harley, ultimately she'd die for someone that never loved her, turning her into a somewhat tragic character and an irredimible Harley compared to other versions
😮 now that's an engaging narrative
Another fan idea WAY more interesting than the actual ideas presented by the game
This is actually one of the best ideas I've heard for this game
That sounds cool.
I love this idea! You could also have Bane’s Knightfall lieutenants (Bird, Zombie & Trog) show up as bosses.
The thing is while I do like your idea, the Justice League is confirmed to be coming back in the post launch seasons of this game.
@@ColtonT13 In that case, if they’re gonna be brought back then what was even the point in killing them?

How to improve Gameplay:
- more enemies: enemy bomber that explodes when killed, medic enemy that heals troops, and a mix of the two that when killed cures nearby troops. In addition i'd add mini bosses that copy some abilities from the JL(for example an enemy with laser eyes, another one with slightly increased speed, an enemy with wings like Hawkgirl, etc) and ones that are mutated animals from the Metropolis zoo (i imagine a Tiger, Elephant and Gorilla)
- more Game modes:
team deathmatch, two teams compete to see Who can do a list of objectives faster.
Survival, survive waves of enemies, with each passing wave the difficulty increases.
Backstab, compete amongst your own team to see Who can kill the most enemies, in this Mode you can place landmines to damage your team, dying Will reset you progress.
Nobody is reading all that

Let's kill him horribly."
I just assumed this was a brand new universe which is why we were treating all these heroes so horribly.
even though I personally enjoyed the game you spoke no lies especially about this game shouldn't had been part of the Arkhamverse it really shouldn't have , it would have done so much better and would have avoided so much controversy if it wasn't part of the Arkhamverse
Good thing it's literally impossible for this to be canon.
Imagine is captain boomerang pissed on wonder woman's corpse

@@blok--head7472 I hate that this is lore accurate…
I was thinking the roadmap of this game has two new bosses coming which shows green lantern and superman so I’m theorising that they will both have the same mechanics as the ones that have been defeated by the squad before.
Absolutely. Its re-skin boss fights. Thats the 1st season “content”
Replay the Superman and GL boss fight but now its one of 13 Brainiac variants like the Flash Brainiac. So dumb
But players get an alternate Joker (Jonkler with they/them pronouns and is masking insecurities) to replay the same 3 missions and escort busses slowly through empty city shooting purple puke.
Lmao. What a joke game.
@@EchoDoctrineWhat about pronouns?
Oh man. I was right, BUT its somehow worse, they are charging money to unlock Jonkler faster. OMG. SMH 🤦
And the “new boss fight” is reskin Green Lantern as Brainiac….

At least people are waking up. It's funny that Spiderman 2 (Also SBI written, with Mary Jane writter self insert) is basically the Emperor's new Clothes.
@Klongu_Da_Bongu The MJ thing has been debunked. The actress reprised her role, but her face became different following reconstructive surgery due to a car accident. Now why this information didn't come out sooner is beyond me.
@@harlannguyen4048 It's not debunked, you can't debunk what your eyes see 😂. Also the reason why it's "beyond you" is because it's objectively false tabloid information made after the fact by tabloids and the gaming press media. Really think hard on this.
School BFF, not romantic
You got to take the whole ‘live service’ thing into account.
Season 1: Kill the fake Justice League
Season 2: Rescue the real Justice League
Season 3: Stop Brainiac
You're just further highlighting how trash the narrative is and how much of a dumpsterfire death sentence live services are.
They pulled out Arkham Harley and inserted Margot Robbie Harley to tie her closer to her recent movies, thats all this is.
I think batman changing his mind and joining the justice league kind of makes sense. He activated knight fall because there needed to be something bigger than just the batman, and that’s what the justice league is, it’s all of them together.
Personally for me I just wanted a rocksteady Superman game because that would’ve been really awesome and tons of fun in my opinion.
Even better this whole story takes place in another universe
I like how you incorporated feedback into the video! I agree with introducing Brainiac early on and having his attempts to sway the Squad be more important. It would fit into the whole "don't be a hero" tagline of the story and fit how the main characters are morally ambiguous. Plus, there would be greater stakes!

I actually hated this version of Brainiac. He, like everyone else in this game is way too jokey and quippy. He’s not intimidating and serious enough for Brainiac.
One think that i do have to desagre is the "Superman meting Batman" bit is bad, and its actualy kinda nice, i like to think Superman would notice at some point THE GHOST, figure out its Bruce, and try hard to help him with his problems and "Save him" , just feels like the most Superman thing.
Harley never was too bright - something Batman tought to himself in Asylum. I guess besides being able to take on Superman she also can read minds?
Why doesn't Brainiac just take control of the SS? Why didn't any of the murderous JL just instantly kill the SS? Why is the JL so underpowered? Why is the Hall Of Justice open to the public along with top secret tech? How did King Shark use the ring? How was ANYONE able to one up Flash!?!?!? Or Superman for that fact!?!?!? There are so many inconsistencies.
I hate how harley quin is in it she has no super powers or super skilled in anything qlso she is every evil she has killed kids
how dare a bad guy be a bad guy! boomerang and deadshot dont have powers ether
@dogboy8679 dead shot is the best gun user ever boom arranged has good tech also harely quin is a very awful person who would have more death penalties than people in prison
@@dogboy8679the issue is, that the game and most recent media is painting Harley as a sympathetic figure and most of the time the sins she had committed in her past was barely ever brought up, nobody seemed to mention again about the people she had murdered, they only talked about her sexual orientation and her "regretful phase" because whacky haha girl. Atleast Deadshot and Boomerang have some redeeming qualities of having a cooler gimmick, which the game itself takes away anyway by giving Boomerang and the rest of the squad a gun....

They only said it's part of the arkham verse to rope people in
The green lantern ring should have flown away and when does attack the user never seen that happen before
You're completely wrong about Harley.
Seeing as how her dlc for AC revolves around one night and the dlc is her preparing for revenge once again, she was not doing anything on her own for herself.
@@chewdoom8415 notice how I say the whole of Arkham Knight...
@@chewdoom8415 that's just semantics, they still are her own stories.
@@sweetvue1716 The thing is that you bring up this point like he does not address it, when he does mention what harley did and everything was tied to the joker. If it really is just semantics then that is what the majority of your argument is based on.
I still think it is a fair argument because she speaks as if these things she did were enough to increase her notoriety when the key things that were impactful were lead by the joker, either by he himself or his successor who died.
It is not like anyone is denying that she did a few things, but when you dedicate months to prepare to get revenge and you happily relinquish the spotlight to someone else and go right back to being a sidekick, what do you expect?
When is the SSKTJL rewrite?
The thing that really got me, stupidly, was Arron Cash, last time was saw him, he was GCPD Station Chief, not an Arkham Guard. No way he quit the GCPD again to go back to Arkham as a guard
Now you need to do rewrite suicide squad kill justice league
a simple fix for the marketing so the same story could be actually kept in its entirety (except for chiming in brainiac more and earlier) would be to call the game "task force x" and have the kill the justice league aspect be a surprise reveal, where during marketing the tought keeps being "how did brainiac invade metropolis?" only to reveal by mind controlling the JL and forcing the suicide squad to (though despite hating them with a passion) reluctantly kill them
the biggest problem is that it exists
You're a liar. The main villain of each Arkham game are Joker, Joker, Joker, and Joker.
It should have been a Teen Titans game and Batman should have been playing Brainiac all along like he did with Darkseid in many comics. That man has unbreakable will and is pretty much immune to mind control.
Why is flash running in circle instead of directly ripping their hearts out like he did with luthor ?
Plot armour
Because there wouldn't be a video game
Your review and breakdown was absolutely perfect. Compared to the other reviews I’ve watched which I also agreed with but just the way you present what they should’ve done and the underlying premise of the game makes more sense to me. Great work!
Perfect video. Me being a DC fan mainly because of Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad 2016 im super disappointed in the Harley we got in that game.
What really stands out to me, is how your criticisms here are almost identical to mine.
When I saw the leaks of what they did to batman, I knew I was not going to love this game: as one of Kevin Conroy's last performances, he deserved better.
Then there's also the whole lewter shooter aspect, and the desecration of our favorite superheroes, and the glitches
I didn’t care from it even at the start, evil superman is too overdone at this point. We have had injustice, invincible and the boys already.
I thought it looked bad as soon as it was announced
The Story ends After arkahm Knight for me :)
What about the comic where the mainline Batman meets Arkham Batman?
@@twinzzlers For me it is confirmation that he is still alive after Arkahm Knight
This was actually a much more thoughtful video than what I was expecting.
Am I the only person that liked this game?
you know they are just going to reskin the justice league fights and funny enough there are 13 brainiacs and 5 justice leaague members. what about the other 9 after they are done with the 4 more reskins
It just a massive scam using superheroes
Here’s my idea for a Suicide Squad rewrite:
Brainiac touches down in Metropolis and takes control of the Justice League.
…Again.”
However, once the files are finally fully repaired, we learn of Bruce’s Final Protocol.
Ew, please stop using the awful Return to Arkham demakes when showing off Asylum or City.
so apparently theres several calanders in the game, all are marked with a date and number, apparently this is calander man,and if you put all those numbers in order of the locations you find them, where batman gets killed there is a hidden calander with a batman logo on it;and all these numbers when translated to the alphabet spell out:HE WILL RETURN;all 12 calanders spell this, calander man has been involved in big easter eggs, looks like a completely intentional calander add
It's just one massive problem: Rocksteady hired Sweet Baby Inc. .
I'm not surprised that a company with such a name remade Poison Ivy as a little kid.
1. It's lame.
2. It sucks.
3. It's disrespectful.
Glad I waited. I am an Arkham fan but based on other things I have seen on youtube I decided to wait to see if I'd like it. Not that I was gonna get this game anyways cause killing your favorite heroes as villains doesn't sound like my kinda thing 😅
I loved Kevin performance in all the games and this game
The real question is, when are you rewriting/rebuilding this entire concept to fit into your Arkham Knight timeline. Obviously this would have to be a complete redo on every level and a massive undertaking, but I think we would all love to see it. Hell, you can even do it in the original arkham timeline, rather than your rework.
For me it was 2 problem, the "We Want" mindset from the Devs which are:
1) Writers that had no respect to source material and had no idea how to write a story for Arkham.
