Just love how Vietnam clutched up when you needed pain after arsenal didn't show up
Didn’t they just beat United?
@@jeffersondavis3446 what he meant was because Maqwell was so used to taking doses of pain from Arsenal losing from previous seasons
Nowadays he doesn't get that anymore, thankfully vietnam came in to serve Maqwell
@@jeffersondavis3446 he’s saying since Arsenal keeps winning he has Vietnam to deliver him pain
Perfectly balance, as it should be
Really must suck supporting a big six team 😢
as a malaysian i deeply am sorry for our attitude but goddamn, ryuji really made us angry as hell
it's ok bro the same happened in Vietnam in 2018 against a Qatari referee and the 2020 aff referee. We need VAR for sure
that one referee really do be making me from supporting Vietnam to win to hoping they lose in the final for some reason.
Never knew ASEAN football was THIS partisan
Reminds me of those in West and north Africa

@@jamescordennnnnalways blaming the referee lol. I’m Vietnamese and I notice this after most losses
Keisuke Honda being the coach of Cambodia is the most random thing I've heard today😭
It's been a while. I think he started when he was still playing in Australia
He coached via video calls for awhile too, he also ask severals fan for formation and lineups online
Lets be honest, he was never the coach.. He made a lot of money, did very little and most if not all Cambodian fans hate him. He was hardly ever there, he has ZERO coach qualifications and could not stand on the touchline in many games because he s simply not allowed to (as he has NO COACHING QUALIFICATIONS).
@@HarcusCGTV really Cambodian football fan here and I never heard of anyone from here hate him. Because of him at least we can put up a fight against other team now.
@@sovannraseang don’t mind that guy. He came to every videos that includes SEA football to ask for some views in the manner of a beggar.
Tbh,Honda came from appearing in the 14-0 in Tehran to playing pretty well against 2 teams that is gonna play in Asian Cup. The improvement are massive, even us Vietnamese fan (who, tbh, make fun of Honda as a “online coach” most of the time) can’t ignore it now. Shame he’d be out after the SEA Games, but that’s FFC purpose from the start,eh?
Btw,is there anyone that we can look forward at the Cambodian team apart from Chanthea,Sa Ty and Pisoth?
As an Indonesian, I cry every AFF. 273.8 million population, 6 Finals, and still 0 AFF title.
Bener cuy 6 aff masih gk ada🥲sakit hati
yeah.... mainly won the runner-up position
runner up specialist. and blame the referee
if we have much better skills we can won by a better football technique against tarkam 😂
Apa²an aep ep, lebih baik fokus di Kualifikasi piala dunia
Max, I just want to say thank you for providing these type of content. As a Vietnamese, I had always wanted an English-speaking channel that covers news and updates regarding the Vietnam football scene, and seeing you do exactly that brings a smile to my face, since I believe regional and international football fans will now gain a better understanding of how Vietnamese football is developing. Keep up the good work, and have a wonderful lunar new year with your family.
Ngl I kinda like to see how equally he takes everything into commenting, even as himself being a Vietnamese fan and so am I.
Check out our channel, as we cover the Vleague, Vietnamese national team and ASEAN football in English.

As a Thai, I really love how you explain all the things that happened during this tournament. Very well done.
I honestly watch these because it’s interesting to see teams like Vietnam who never get any spotlight
We Thai all understand and respect our neighbors when it comes to football tournament in our region. Because we want ourselves and all our friends to excel further in a larger arena. Although there has been some drama and trash talking among one another, it is just a part of the game and we will always be neighbors who share the same culture and traditions. We are sincerely grateful to have had such an amazing games with you all, and would be extremely excited to look forward to our next tournament to come. Stick together my southeast Asians brothers.
Trash talking is needed for my blood pressure. Being a Viet I did that to Thai, Indo, Malay, and even Philippines:))). Still, love ya all neighbor niggas.
Honestly sounds like latin america mate, hope you guys keep improving in football and hope to see you guys in the world cup
Singaporean here that doesn’t really follow SG football, but never in a million years did I think I’d watch any massive football channel in UA-cam cover football in the ASEAN region, let alone with such vested interest in our football.
Big up Maqwell and keep making your boss content!!
THANK YOU For giving coverage for Southeast Asian football!! Love these videos
“Beating Laos is like beating Chelsea this year” as a Chelsea fan I felt that lmao
Brings back memories to the Vietnamese people at 2018 AFF Championship
im brazillian, and i love southeast asian football, as it kinda reminds me of south american football with everyone hating eachother to the point of everyone roasting eachother in social media.
i like it :D
The only time I've seen Southeast Asia unite (minus Malaysia) was when Malaysia became the host of SEA Games.
The official organizers flipped Indonesian flag to Poland, changed Thai flag to Costa Rica, and I think you can guess the rest from watching this video. And they made it to final. Despite all the effort, they lost to Thailand 1-0 because the goal keeper punched the ball into his own goal.
That was probably the only time that Vietnamese and Indonesians cheered for Thailand because they had common enemy
so proud when Maqwell finally try to read the Vietnamese names in the right way

I'm a Vietnamese but damn, Thailand's team was playing so well in those final matches
3:10 I feel so bad for him 😅
The cambodian side was underrated, they were absolute dark horses, shocked the filiphinos with a 3-2 victory, stunned the indonesians, and destroyed brunei 5-1, sadly they lost to thailand and didnt advance to the semis, they put up a very good fight tho, keisuke honda is really improving cambodian football, best wishes to them when they host the sea games this year
Cambodia have a bright future indeed. The Japanese are doing well there,if they keep up they might return to their old glory.
absolutely loved what cambodia brought to this tournament... check ut our video filmed at the philippines game!
Cambodia played against India and Afghanistan during Asia Cup qualifiers. That gave them some good experience for sure.
This is why I love football. The narrative, the drama, and the heartwarming stories. I wish I could have followed the team’s story a little closer during Park’s reign. Great video👍🏼
As a Malaysian, I am proud of my homeland's journey during this 2022 run. We didn't expect much, and bowed out against the eventual champions. Still mad against Vietnam tho, Van Hau and Ryuji HAHAHAHA
But again, thank you Maqwell for covering our region's version of the World Cup to your audience, hopefully, this would be an eye opener for the non-Asean citizens.
I lived in Vietnam for most of my life and had a big passion for football and watched all of the games with my dad but I ended up moving to Australia and the basically non-existent football culture there + the pandemic really drove me away from the sport but thanks to discovering this channel last year I was reminded of how much I have missed out on and how lucky I am to come from a country that really does have a love for football. I have started following the sport more now. I didn't know Park was leaving the team until I watched this video and its quite sad but he will always be an icon in Vietnam + will never forget how many times I have seen him in an advertisement.
The return of your best series, another instalment of Viet Pain 😎🗿😂
As an indonesian. I am so happy that thailand won.
Apapun yg terjadi, jgn kasih longgar vietnam
Happy for a country other than yours winning a game. That shows how much you hate Vietnam 😂
Indonesia should have beat the vietnam and meet Thailand in the final. 👍😀 that would be nice.
@@mylefthook3724 Thailand: no please no not another bus
It must be said your vietnamese is improving massively. I hate watching Vietnam blow these insane chances but I love watching and following them.
The Asean 'World Cup', pain to see my team (Malaysia) got destroyed in the semi 2nd leg but man, Thailand really pushed their gas at their own turf. The final are indeed the most entertaining one since the 2010 and 2008 edition.
Thailand played shoulders ahead of our current level. We knew we would have been destroyed in the 2nd leg, even after Mikey's fortunate goal, we were bombarded with endless waves of counterattack. We had it coming.
As a Vietnamese, 2020 Chanatip gave me nightmares and I thought my suffering is over but Theeraton ruined it for me
As an indonesian, oh boy i have a PTSD for that player too
Djtme Theerathon, tất cả anh em chúng tôi ghét Theerathon.
Don't forget Thailand still have 10 good/better players who haven't participated in this tournament. 😂
as a vietnamese, thailand's team performed really well in this time.
And thus, for some indonesians outa there, tell your fans to stop being salty for losing. it is just way too funny to read their salty text in the aff facebook imao
If only the Philippines wasn't too focused on developing basketball, which clearly we clearly are in a disadvantage already because basketball is a game dominated by big people, our football teams would be thriving. We have more people the height of Messi than the height of Chris Paul. Football is a perfect fit for Filipinos but the love for basketball in this country is just insane.
i suppose its a matter of what people enjoy doing, though i hate how much less focus there has been on football as compared to basketball here
@@sph3r1cal_ well the reason why people has more passion for basketball is bc of the fact that our government just keeps funding basketball ☠
As an Indonesian, I can admit that Thailand and Vietnam were class apart from every other nation in Southeast Asia. Still hate that Vietnam left back though
Arsenal actually playing well and not giving Maqwell pain
The Vietnamese National Team: *Hold my beer*
Balanced as all things should be
Well....
Man, our finishing sucks! And we are incosistent sometimes.
But in all, Shin Tae-Yong has put Indonesia in a right direction, and with six more naturalized players of Indonesian-descent, I have high hope for the future.
It’s a trap bro,it’s a trap. Look at the Philippines. They used to beat Vietnam, now they lose to Cambodia.
Sometimes people forgotten easily just what happened in asia cup achievement last year, despite how good we are during that qualification
I'm Thai. Indonesia practically run over our midfield like toilet paper and we survive by literal fluke goal, this Indonesia side & tactics looks really promising imho.
@@justarandomchannel5475 i hope Indonesia become the dark horses of Asian Cup in 2024, if our football federations chairman is erick thohir instead not the convict politicians so called La Nyalla who made abolished our league until we got banned by fifa in 2015

It's not a trap.. Mixed-blooded players can join Filipino or Indonesian teams. And the coach must choose players who have good qualities.. For example Dang Van Lam
The best video about AFF Cup ever.
Maqwell at least your national team is moving on the right direction Vietnam is moving toward Asia level unlike my country Indonesia who strugle in aff cup it Will be a miracle in this year Asian cup if we manage to win at least once in the group stage
Indonesia is also going the right way, but I’d have had more hope for that if not for the fan base. Like… I can feel it’s live or die (like… actual death) being an Indonesian football fan.
@@jakayun4035 I agree, Vietnam are now moving backwards, Indonesia continue to go forwards... VERY slowly...
hey maqwell, thanks for yours videos man, i am from Brazil so sorry for the bad english, but i just wnat to thank you for show me in this fun and dinamic way the football ( or soccer ) scenary around the world
I like watching these catch up about the Vietnam team. It gives me a new perspective to the world and as I have a cousin out there it’s something we bond over whenever we have the chance to call. It’s nice knowing about a new place which is now a part of my family and I do like to back Vietnam whenever they play (apart from Australia because that’s where most of my relatives are now too). Hope Vietnam win the next AFF cup and can qualify for a World Cup soon
Me, an indonesian, watching our team miserably cant shoot to score: "oh, hello there maq"

Thanks for for covering AFF Cup. SE Asia football may not be the best but is highly entertaining and passionate. I have been following AFF Cup since late 2000s especially when Philippines was doing well. Now Philippines is in low point and is on slow rebuilding stage. Vietnam has done really well representing SE Asia football the past few years. Thailand is always competitive and fun to watch. I just love the heated banter among the fans during AFF Cup.
Congrats to both finalists. They gave it their all.
Truly a colorful tournament. The drama and shithousery is unsurpassed. Cant wait for the next asian tournament and more social media wars.
You'll have almost 2 years to prepare.
See you then.
Oh don't worry. SEA Games, Southeast Asian Olympic Games, will starts in May this year in Cambodia and so does SEA Games Football. Unfortunately, SEA Games Football only allows U-23 teams with 3 overage, main national team players to enters the tournament. But the bullshittery and chaos in the internet after the match is just as fun as it was in the AFF.
I think Indonesia also deserve a video dedicated to them!
Based on what I've seen, their team is filled with clones of Darwin Nunez!!!
Klok get Nam Huynh Dao’d by Doan Van Hau leh
Ngl man Hansamu Yama probably made the worst failed goal of this year 😭
pain
Indonesia doesn't deserve a video because their fans are a bunch of sore losers and they always go harass and hate on the opponent's players on Instagram and other social media sites.
I’ve only recently found your channel during World Cup and at your enthusiasm for Vietnam I thought I would watch them I watched this tournament as much as I could despite the bad times it was on and man how entertaining it was. Asian football clear of European so much more energetic and back and forth
as a once fervent supporter of vietnamese football, that quang hải meme hit me hard.
It could be worse, imagine being Filipino after getting Gerrit Holtman to join Etheridge on their national team, only to lose 3 out of 4 of their group-stage matches in this competition and fail to qualify for the Asian Cup while multiple dual-internationals are now questioning if this is the national team they want to play for.
Start investing on youth football at a quarter of basketball investment amount. You have potential, you even gave birth to Barca’s one of the best goalscorers.
I can never understand why we can reach the 3rd round of WC qualifying but still only make 1 appearance in the asia cup bruhhhh ya allah.
@@abdulmaliksarip77 the Philippines have never reached the 3rd round lmao
@@DungNguyen-dk8wm The Philippines has struggled to develop players that can reach a high level. Most of them usually peak in Thailand or Malaysia and very few can take the next step to play in one of Asia's most prestigious leagues or Europe. To my knowledge, they're gambling on bringing dual internationals from England, Spain, Germany and Canada to create a national team that can qualify for the 2027 Asia Cup.
the AFF cup is my favorite to watch because its the only cup in which my team (thailand) actually has a chance of winning
Hey Maqwell. While I'm not from the region of Southeast Asia or even Asia at all, I just wanna say that I really like watching your videos. I was never a big football fan but it was kind of a constant part of my life because of my dad (he's a player in Austria). You were the first channel I recently watched that actually got me more and more interested about the sport. I just want to say thank you for providing these commentary videos, they're amazing and very interesting to watch.
Park's run with Vietnamese National team is undeniably great, too bad we didn't have a good end. I've seen people saying that Park's strategy has been well researched by this point so we had a harder time winning the stronger teams.
Let's hope the next coach will turn over a new leaf to the team.
I mean. It wasn't hard to breakthrough a roadblock tactic if your player knew how to control, pass, and keeping the ball away from defensive team like Vietnam. Especially since Vietnamese defense are not really that strong. They rely on fouls, charge, bias referee and injuring other players. Something that Saudi Arabia and Malaysia experienced in a hard way. By having a VAR or having a good ball control, Vietnam will die like they did in WC Qualifier. And now that their coach is gone and the current team has no trustworthy replacement, they'll be down for a long time.
Youre probably the best football youtuber in the platform right now, i as a south american normally wouldnt care about the AFF cup but here i am seeing a video about it
as Singapore at home this cup breaks my heart as we used to be the power house in the AFF Cup i hope we would do well in the 2024 one

So the hierarchy in the AFF is like this:
Thailand
Vietnam
Indonesia and Malaysia
Everyone else
Something I've noticed:
* 2018: France wins the World Cup; Vietnam wins the AFF Championship
* 2020 (Actually 2021): France loses the first knockout round in the Euros; Vietnam loses the first knockout round in the AFF Championship
* 2022/23: France loses the World Cup Final; Vietnam loses the AFF Championship Final
Vietnam was France's former colony after all.

Max i would love to see a story of park hang seo video to appreciate his accomplishments with vietnam football, maybe do it as a video essay after the belgium vid. We vietnamese viewers would love to see it.
As soon as I watched the 2-2 draw on our home side, I knew we couldn't win due to the away goal rule stopping us from going to pens with a 1-1 draw needing us to score atleast 2 goals at their home ground. A sad day, I flew home for the holidays and had to watch that with my family
right before Lunar New year too man, hits hard.
Maqwell doesn't understand we subscribed specifically to see him talk about niche football tournaments. GREAT VIDEO!

Can't really call it a national team when it's full of imports
same goes for the womens team too
I actually watched Vietnams last 3 games and was soo invested in them. I will forever remeber the equaliser in the first leg in the final.
it's suck that we couldn't won the aff cup to give Mr.Park his last present in his last game. Anyway, happy Tet and celebrate the year of Cat, you doin great bro!

Fantastic video. Thank you for covering this tournament. Keep up the good work.
I'm from Myanmar and the public were not even backing our national team.. given the political mass, we are against everything that might give the military junta a good light on international stage .. we used to be pretty good 15-20 years ago and we can only hope that our golden days will return after this political mess is over ...
Hops that your country will be peace again
Ok funny story from a Portuguese lad.
In 2021, Honda signed for southern Portuguese club Portimonense, after he left Botafogo. He didn't play any game because he was signed in February and the Portuguese Federation would not allow more players to join the squad for the rest of the season. The aftermath was Portimonense and Honda resign the contract after one week
And who manages the club are Japanese people btw.
Hope you like this piece of trivia from the national coach of Cambodia :)))
Another fun fact: Even though Indonesia has the 2nd most appearances in the AFF Cup finals (6), we've never managed lift the trophy.
At least you guys are progressing. Me, watching Indonesia FA corruption for YEARS.

I can't believe the Vietnam vs Malaysia game was similar to what happened after Chelsea got knocked out by Barcelona in 2009 UCL semifinal.
Ryuji Sato was even received death threats from Malaysian people, similar to Ovrebo and Frisk.

9:10 goddamn hitting them with a triple SIUUU!!!
If you watched the Vietnamese National League or V-League. You would know that Phạm Tuấn Hải is actually a monster of a finisher check out some of his high lights and you would know. He is the top domestic scorer of the league, suprassing Tiến Linh. Overall he's really passionate and never give the ball up easily, he's good technically as well despite a rough looking build.
Personally I think he will be a key player in the Vietnamese national team moving forward. Watchout for him in the future.
I like that Tuan Hai is literally the Shane Long of Asia! It’s kind of funny that he plays like him but let’s face it he’s probably better. We all know that Long only scores one goal every decade for club and country
