Amazing video literally been trying to find out this kinda shit for months and this video taught me so much and helped me with the same problem I'm having. Keep it up bro
Thanks for the video! I have a 2009 Honda Accord EX-L V6 that has the same code along w/ all the other issues you mentioned like oil consumption, irregular/poor gas mileage at times & the same bank 1 low efficiency. So I have to loosen the front “CAT” in order to get the rear “CAT” into position! Got it…. I’m going to buy a new DENSO O2 sensor since everything will be torn apart. Where’d you find your “CAT” from?
I bought it from rockauto! It was cheaper at the time of purchase like $300cad but now shot up to the $400s which is crazy. And yes i found it easier removing the j pipe that connects both cats to have more slack when removing and installing
@780lude OK thanks! That's what I figured. Now we're trying to figure out why one of the threaded studs for the top of the CAT isn't going all the way into the engine like the rest. Mannnnn
Seems Bank 1 is always has the faulty cat - could it be due to the VCM shutting off? My check engine light always comes on when I'm cruising at highway speeds and I get the same P0420 error. If the cat cannot heat up properly due to the VCM shutting down two of the three cylinders, if you kill the VCM and run all six cylinders, would this bring back the cat back to life? The cat runs from heat and if there is only 1 cylinder firing on that side of the motor, it would make sense the cat would throw that P0420 code cause its not getting sufficient heat from just one cylinder firing. I wanna cut off the VCM and run the car and see if that error comes back again.
Bank 1 is the bank that shuts off due to vcm, bank 2 continues operating even with vcm. So the oil consumption is from bank 1, also, bank 1 gets way dirtier if you look under the valve cover or look at the spark plugs in comparison with bank 2. I have P0420 right now due to that, even though i put vcm muzzler it was too late since the past owner put like 170k miles of eco mode on the car
@@marvinpurcell2775 some interesting news I accidentally stumbled across. The check engine code I was getting was due to a low functioning cat. I was under the car looking at the cat and the O2 sensor cause I was gonna put in a 02 sensor spacer to fool the system and get the check engine light off. I wriggled the cables coming from both 02 sensors and later started the motor. As soon as the motor started the check engine light went out. Conclusion is that the cat was fine. It might have been a problem with the wires coming from the 02 sensor. Before I replace the cat due to that fault error I'd replace the 02 sensor. Cheaper and easier option. Thanks for letting me share....
You should have been able to use the same deep socket and extension to get it out that you use for the other 3. I used a breaker bar to break it lose then a deep socket and extension to get it on off. It took a lot of muscle to break one of them free.
hey bro what size was your o2 sensor socket. I already bought the catalyst converter i just need the o2 sensor socket to remove the o2 sensors when it comes in but i dont know what size socket to get.
I had my 2012 accord v6 overhauled in 2014 because of the same issue you talked about. I called the local Honda dealership and there was a recall. They covered the overhaul and reprogrammed the fuel management system.. I have 170k with no problems. I'm getting 31mpg on Hwy. You might want to call Honda dealer.
Why you just did gut the old car and modify the o2 sensor so no code pops up on dashboard then stick the old one back in? It would of gave it more power plus not having to butba new cat
Bank 1 is rear and front is bank 2 Oxygen sensor 1 bank 1 is the one on top and oxygen sensor 2 is the one on bottom of catalytic converters front and back
Brother I feel your pain I have the 2010 3.5 V6 coupe I just took mine off and gutted the shit out of them and plugged minicat extenders into them then screwed the O2 sensors into the minicats
Great video. Nice to see the problems that most people run into when diy-ing.
This guy will fix the hoody or the back of any girl OR a car. He's that good!

Did you do a vid on disabling the vcm? I’d love to know how to do that!! Great vid btw!!
Theres a little thing you can buy for like 100 bucks and its really easy to hook up. Just plugs in
My friend ! Did this cheaper cat work well? I want to purchase one for around 200$ it seems like the same one ! Help me out
Was it worth it vs paying someone else to do it?
love your content, surprised you only have 182 subs. thanks

What was the issue with oil consumption? I have an 08 suffering the same problem
@@Ant-uy3tu I got an s-vcm. Helped fix my issues.
@@Ant-uy3tuyou need vcm tuner to disable vcm

But where is located on the front the motor ??
Or back of the motor ?
How long did that converter last
Are u in California
Ayyyy how does the O ring fit if there's no groove for it to sit in? There's no groove on the CAT and there's no groove on the pipe
I actually didnt use it. Forgot to mention that

How does the accord run after the installment?
Runs great man. No more check engine light
Hi, how do you disconnect the o2 sensor clip to remove it? Thank you
How did you get the bolt that was on the lower corner of the cat near the fire wall?

Bank 1 ?
For the gasket does that part number work for a 2012 accord?
It should work its the same 3.5L engine
@@780lude I checked online and it’s telling me the R40 fits but not the R70. Will this gasket still fit the converter tho ? Idk how car parts work
