Was it worth it vs paying someone else to do it?

How has the part held up so far? I got the same code thinking about replacing the Cat or 02 sensors but not sure. 2010 v6 242K on it. Also just installed SVCM, when we lifted the car we found some oil under the pan though so not sure if that’s what destroyed the CAT, the VCM..

Have you confirmed it is NOT caused by downstream O2 sensor fault? It was reported by other UA-camrs. Go straight to replace catalyst converter just based on one code is blunt example for others. Nice video though.

Consider yourself lucky if you don't have the ATTS because that's actually another point of failure. You will have just about as much of the same handling with quality adjustable coilovers and fixing up your front end, but back then there weren't many alternatives readily available so most people would stick with ATTS and say it was the best. Type SH had VIN start with 14 and Base was VIN 24. You'll also know with the ATTS light on the cluster, but either way it doesn't really matter because it's more of an unobtanium part than anything else. I think the only really defining thing that made the SH better besides that was the courtesy lights on the doors. Auto trans can be fixed by just changing out your VSS and AT Solenoid, and doing frequent transmission fluid changes every 15k miles with the application of a trans cooler. SS autos were the main point of failure as well, so some APPARENTLY do not have the SS.. If you don't, you're lucky. If you do, just do the preventative maintenance and add your trans cooler and you'll likely be doing better than most. The biggest point of failure on them was the fact they'd either burn up or their rings would go bad bc Honda skimped out on them to basically kick the little guy's ass.

Good video. I got the same code on a 200k '09 V6 accord sedan but just changed the primary & secondary oxygen sensors, reset the scanner. Problem solved. But those 02 sensors are not cheap, got NGK's at Napa for about 60% price compared to the dealership. If you get this code, fuel quality surprisingly might unlikely be the culprit, then maybe your mass-air flow sensor needs cleaning/ replacement, but it's most likely your 02 sensor(4 on the V6), then maybe your cat converter.

I just put mine in the other day and now I’m wondering… how am I gonna replace these ball joints when they wear out?? Lol am I gonna need to get them from Godspeed only? I didn’t really look over the ball joint setup on em, just slapped em in the middle of the adjustable area and put em in, but maybe the ball joints can be removed from their mount idk. I still gotta put in the rear UCAs so I’ll check those ball joints and see what the deal is gonna be when the time comes

Great video. I just paid 280 to have bank 1 replaced and the next day bank 2 went. Good thing I purchased all 3. I am doing this tomorrow! I am now confident I can do this!

Seems Bank 1 is always has the faulty cat - could it be due to the VCM shutting off? My check engine light always comes on when I'm cruising at highway speeds and I get the same P0420 error. If the cat cannot heat up properly due to the VCM shutting down two of the three cylinders, if you kill the VCM and run all six cylinders, would this bring back the cat back to life? The cat runs from heat and if there is only 1 cylinder firing on that side of the motor, it would make sense the cat would throw that P0420 code cause its not getting sufficient heat from just one cylinder firing. I wanna cut off the VCM and run the car and see if that error comes back again.

0430 is the other side. That’s not the right one.

Old, retired, still driving the red 99 my wife bought new in Santa Rosa 24 years ago. 207,000 miles, faded paint that I am going to get redone but other than that runs great, daily driver. Not fast in a straight line but handles better than any other front driver, as well as some rear wheel drivers. Will never part with this car.

I had my 2012 accord v6 overhauled in 2014 because of the same issue you talked about. I called the local Honda dealership and there was a recall. They covered the overhaul and reprogrammed the fuel management system.. I have 170k with no problems. I'm getting 31mpg on Hwy. You might want to call Honda dealer.

if your RPM's tend to get really low when getting warm or even get a check engine llight when fully warmed up and cant rev past 3000 RPM, you need to swap your ignition distributor.. My non-vtec (F20A4) had this issue. Very easy and fast fix, if you can get ur hands on one. GET A OEM ONE!
