      They do age. The early Gallardo models are fairly dated inside and exterior wise they don't look as sharp as the LP Gallardo

      @@thomashayhurst6547I got one and I like the pre LP car more especially the engine. I also prefer the longer headlights and the flat bumper. Cars are going back to that design. The only thing I like on the LP cars is the rear. The car looks so much better in person.

    0-60 is actually 4.3 seconds on this gallardo spyder. Before they added launch control, the Gallardo had a severe problem with the AWD system bogging down and actually slowing the car down on launch. Also, the gear ratios were a bit too long on first and second gear. This is why the early gallardo's all have 4 second + 0-60 times.

      Kings mario Going by previous issues of Road & Track, it's actually closer to 4 seconds even. But on the other hand, that might be due to other factors like the use of a paddle-shift box, conditions on whatever track you're at, and just driver skill itself; overall I'm sure both the roadsters and the coupe alike are quite quicker than 4.7 to 60mph.

    • @lancetenhoopen1006

      That's correct for older stick shift models. Agreed times have changed. My 2013 Sypder E-Gear's 3.5 but still slow compared to 2018 standards. Zero to 60 website shows 3.3 but I have tested with/without turbo and it's pretty consistent 3.5-3.7 in radials and 3.2 in Hoosier R7's.2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Bicolore

    Its sad... Id want this over the Aventador or any of the newer Lambos... It has a clutch and stick, its small, it doesn't look like a jet fighter inside and it roars properly with its V10 engine. To me this is real Italian muscle, despite the V12 Big Brothers who has a super computer controlling everything you do. Other than the V12 Diablo, to me this seems like the "final" raw muscle of the super car industry

      Ayman B.
      If you can, take one out for a drive. I did a dream-car tour with a Gallardo and GTR and while the GTR was tuned and clearly faster, the baby lambo left a much bigger mark. It had an aftermarket exhaust and butterfly valves and it was 6spd manual....2nd gear pull was absolute car nirvana.

    • @juliantaffa4089
      @juliantaffa4089 6 років тому +4

      +Mat Fox Well the pops and crackles are kind of fake - it electronically cuts the engine revs after the throttle has been depressed. It isn't a 'natural' part of the engine sound, it is done by a computer. The recent M4s and M5s as well as the F-type SVR have similar systems.

    • @matfox6254
      @matfox6254 6 років тому +6

      +Julian Taffa - Well, I feel like the word "fake" implies that the sound is created artificially by some speaker or something. But yeah, the crackling does not come naturally. I guess you could call it "forced." Either way, I love it!

    I honestly would think I'd buy this over most of the modern super cars today, mainly with what I saw in the interior... "stick shift".. Not too many super cars Ive seen have them anymore, what with the paddle shifters included with them. Very inferior car in means of what is produced now, but Im a bit nostalgic when it comes to manual transmissions and 5,6,7 spds (if there is such a thing as a 7 spd stick)

    • @MichaelWBush
      @MichaelWBush 9 років тому +17

      That's because you're a true enthusiast. Most "car guys," want a manual gear box, and criticize the steering wheel flaps that change gears, and even this is being neutered further, by automatic only super cars. Technology is making cars better on paper, and allowing mediocre people to drive them, but are ruining what made super cars great in the first place.

    • @bowlofarthritus8558
      @bowlofarthritus8558 9 років тому +2

      ***** Much of what I learned is through stick shifts. Through a cable clutch not hydraulic clutches is which todays cars go buy. Believe it or not, I have a harder time with 4 cylinder cars in the manual field because how light the clutch pedl is, as opposed to a V8 clutches from 10 years ago on how they were when they used to be cables. Im so used to stomping the clutch pedal down its just almost impossible for me to get used to anything else. Now also with how domestic cars can be with the padal shifters, which I have tried, its a joke to me. Theres no reason to try and fix something that isn't broken

    A few weekends ago got to drive an F430 and a Gallardo on the track. Honestly, the F430, which i drove first exceeded expectations. The sound was brilliant, the feel through the steering wheel, informative. It basically begged you to push it just a bit harder, and reassured you it could handle it (if you could). The Gallardo was super underwhelming. The gearbox, while not great on the F430, was crap. While in the Ferrari, in the corners it would grip and go, the Gallardo's tires would squeal and tell me I was at the cars limit. In a 40mph corner, the Ferrari was telling me that I could still go much faster, the Lambo was squealing and groaning. The understeer was shocking for a car of this caliber. This was my first ever Lambo, and my 2nd Ferrari. Honestly, I grew up with Lamborghini posters and screen savers. While I had an admiration for the "special" Ferraris (F40, Enzo etc), Lambos WERE the dream. After driving them both, I am a Ferrari Convert. My dreams have changed with experience, and my new goal (which is currently attainable within a few years if I keep my mind to it) is an F430 or 360 with that beautiful gates shifter (which I have tested once is the 355). Really, I got off track, but the point is this: Don't get stuck on the preconceived ideas of what a car should be like. I thought the Ferrari would be the poser, I just want to look cool car, and the Lambo was the actual driver's car that made you feel like you just harnessed the bull; when in reality, the opposite was true.

      I think what the original commenter was talking about was the noice. I’ve been in Tesla’s with Ludicrous +(?) whichever is more ludicrous than ludicrous and I’d have to say that whilst it is fucking fun, you don’t get the beautiful notes that a well sounding engine can make. Doesn’t mean it isn’t satisfying hearing the motors whir, just doesn’t make you ecstatic like a solid engine note
