This man has just amazing fun of playing neoclassical, so let him do it ! Of course he is heavily influenced by Yngwie, but who cares it sounds freakn amazing, to me thats what counts !
It will be released on March 19th. 3 cd + 1 dvd, price 8000 yen. 2 CD's of remixed and remastered recordings! (24 songs) 1 CD of 10 live recordings and rare recordings and 1 DVD with some history, rare video's, PV etc.
I did what ou said more than one time, I showed his work to profesionals also and they said he's different. 1. His style is not so predictable. 2. His songs are heavier and more straight forward! 3. His wide vibratos, string skipping tecniques are some of the tecniques he uses that I've never heard from YJM. And so on....
Just because someone sounds similar to someone else on guitar does not make them a rip-off artist. All the famous guitarists got their inspiration from somewhere. For instance, Kirk Hammett was trained by Satriani. And neo-classical guitarists, even Ygnwie, got their inspiration from classic guitarists that came out hundreds of years ago, like Vivaldi. They just sped-up what they did. Besides, there's a difference between a solo artist and someone who plays in a band. They're ALL good.
he sounds like yngwie but if u see the theory he use is way different than yngwie... id say the only thing he is a copy of yngwie is the hair and the way he dresses BUT when yngwie got famous nirifumi was already there playing...sooo we can say they both came to the market at the same time so none of them r copies of nobody..
wow. he even has the picking technique and dressing just like malmsteen himself. nobody can beat the original yngwie malmsteen, but he did a really good job! well done!
Many people fail to know the meaning behind notes, not only young kids. Some "adults" or teenagers do it more often, but here is an good example of people who fail to understand notes : Dragonforce, Also, People ( age 1 to *infinity number* ) can play with feelings, Take a look at kids at age 9 playing piano, they have feelings no matter what, its just natural as an human being, so u can program a robot to play, u can never program it to make good music as an true composer.
Music is a form of expression no matter what the composer's intents were at the moment he composed a song. Even the most random-sounding shredding passages involve a lot of hard work. And, in my opinion, hard work IS expression. When it comes to music, I believe most of the expression manifests itself during the actual writing of a said piece, rather than the mere performance.
ive just stumbled on this picking technique as im trying to get quicker, and come across this guy! hes super fast! so it must be worth practising in that circular motion!! anyone else tried it?
Hey muster, I'm a white american male and I have several japanese and chinese heroes. Liu Bei, Takeda Shingen and Kurosawa Akira for instance. And if you want to talk music I love what the japanese are doing for metal. The Sex Machineguns, Onmyouza and Concerto Moon (who Shima plays with). Let's not forget Galneryus and Syu, my guitar hero. But I see what you're saying. Bands like the ones I mentioned would be huge over here if it wasn't for the culture and language gap.
Stupid haters. Who cares if the sound is similar to Yngwie, it's NOT exactly the same as some of you say. Shima is an awesome guitarist and songwriter no matter how you look at it. If you said the same thing about every band/guitarist who sounded like Yngwie, how many 'original' guitarist would there be in the neo-classical genre?? Yngwie did indeed create this type of stuff - he helped found a GENRE, so of course those who come after him are going to sound like him!
wooooooooooooooooooooo........very nice...clear ..and impressive playing...but i somwat agree with tht guy who said about this guy being a clone of malmsteen !! You can fool anyone into believing this is malmsteen's new song...he he !! But...as we all know...what it is like..to do somthing the way Yngwie does.....lets take our hats off !! Great job
It's a nice song, at least. I don't like looking at music as a competition, but this is definitely at inspiring. Ever since I started listening to "shred," I've been practicing a lot more, sometimes for hours on end.
P.S. That is probably the most popular hairstyle in metal, and Yngwie certainly didn't invent it either. Are you going to bash every single metal band member who has a similar hair style, including Ynwie himself?? Shut up and go listen to Yngwie if you're so obsessed with him, and let those of us who enjoy Shima's music enjoy it in peace.
You can program a robot to do the most technical playing in the world, that doesn't mean there's any kind of emotion in it. While there are many technical songs that still carry meaning behind it, there are also many that do not. Young kids who become very proficient at playing an instrument are good examples of this; they can perform a technical song flawlessly, but they really don't understand what the meaning is behind the notes.
@KNVBKing Well, I guess we have a different opinion about that too. But if you think that the things those people say are insulting, the things you say are too.
Malmsteen is a pioneer and has developed the metal guitar to the highest levels, but his playing never goes outside of the box (fortunately he has a big box with lots of tecniques). Unfortunately it also seems in the last few years that he has lost his feeling of the guitar! Shima is developing Malmsteen's style even further!
yes I know malmsteen had never played this licks but this man has malmsteen sound dress like malmsteen you have to recognize that he loves malmsteen and wants to be like him he has copy all of malmsteen he can but he's a good guitarrist haha
Who cares if he's just like Malmsteen?! I mean, Malmsteen is amazing, so if this guy is just like Malmsteen, this guy is also amazing. And, if you'd never heard Malmsteen before, you wouldn't call him rubbish then. So anyone who calls this gut rubbish cause they think he copies Malmsteen is stupid.
He's very similar to Yngwie specially in the clothes, the hair, the strat but... well, the last thing isn't wright, so he could be similar to Eric Clapton LOL But, his music is really different to Yngwie's, specially because he use lot more scales than Yngwie. Good player, good song... I will look for more!
malmsteen wanna beez ...i can get the chinese version on yngwie at my son's birthday ..he does the job an much cheaper...they even copy guitar players thats amazing...i can buy 1 chinese yngwie an a japanese steve vai to teach me
Why are you guys insulting this guy for? It's not like he's the one saying he's better than Yngwie! He obviously never called this sub-genre his own 'cause then Yngwie's song "Liar" would've been dedicated to this guy, and not John Norum. So why don't you guys show some respect. Oh, and you guys must have forgotten...that's 80's rock fashion NOT Yngwie's!
@KNVBKing Dude, relax people are just having some comment. They aren't haters. Those people just have a different opinion than you and they're bringing it in a very pleasant way. Which is something you don't do.
He doesn't sound like Malmsteen at all. just because he plays Neo Classical Licks, doesn't mean he's ripping off Yngwie. Yngwie didn't invent those licks.
I can just hear these riffs all day and never get tired. the intensity of his chord progressions is amazing.
This man has just amazing fun of playing neoclassical, so let him do it ! Of course he is heavily influenced by Yngwie, but who cares it sounds freakn amazing, to me thats what counts !

ピッキングが見てて気持ちいいです!
最高にカッコいいです!
Not exactly like Ynwie never heard an all instrumental with Ynwie quite like this .
He does it good .Very nice tone too.
It's the self-titled song "Concerto Moon" by Neo-Classical Heavy Metal band Concerto Moon. It's from the album "After The Double Cross".
Respecting, Admiring, and taking influence from someone is one thing. Being a clone of that person is something else.
Love your playing!
I'm Canadian, Thanks for the reply, This is a great song. Cheers.

Yngwie rules again, and again, and again! Anyway, great job Norifumi!
wow. he even has the picking technique and dressing just like malmsteen himself. nobody can beat the original yngwie malmsteen, but he did a really good job! well done!
SWEET!!!
I am definitely buying it :)
Damn! You sure have alot of useful information. Where do you get it all? :D

Concerto Moon - Concerto Moon
from the album After the Double Cross
Hello Mr Norifumi Shima. thanks for the show, it was really impressive.
Music is a form of expression no matter what the composer's intents were at the moment he composed a song. Even the most random-sounding shredding passages involve a lot of hard work. And, in my opinion, hard work IS expression.

What is the name of this song and the name of the album this song is in please... This stuff is great!
Too right - and Ritchie Blackmore created the riff - Spotlight Kid, 1981.

Great, how would dimarzio hms respond on a squire strat . and a marshall combo? anybody?
ive just stumbled on this picking technique as im trying to get quicker, and come across this guy! hes super fast! so it must be worth practising in that circular motion!! anyone else tried it?

Wow! Now I wanna Strat shaped headstock Schecter. Where can I get one?
Right, he's the author of almost all CM songs.

@MrChachi123 I doubt you have listened to any of his early stuff from the early 90s
wooooooooooooooooooooo........very nice...clear ..and impressive playing...but i somwat agree with tht guy who said about this guy being a clone of malmsteen !! You can fool anyone into believing this is malmsteen's new song...he he !!

It's like you don't realize that America is at the center of the world's economy. If we go down, the world's economy goes down with us.
People who think he's not like Yngwie need a reality check. Norifumi Shima himself has stated that he looks up to Yngwie as his primary influence.
Does any one know about any tabs by norifumi shima? and what is this song called?

This guy knows Yngwie's structures well.

one of the best Yngwie copies Japan has made
veryyyyyyy veryyyy great !!!!!!
this its the guitarrist from Concerto Moon right?
I hear a little Paul Gilbert in there too.....not bad at all. Nice tune.
This guy is my hero!!!!!
Awesome
Malmsteen FTW
Does anyone have any information about this "Decade of the Moon" Special Box Set?
you have power metal like wintersun or crystal eyes and have power metal like children of bodom or kalmah called too epic metal but it still power!
there are good copys like this but YNGWIE there's only one don't forget it.
is this improvised? if it's not what is the name of the song O_o
@KNVBKing Well, I guess we have a different opinion about that too. But if you think that the things those people say are insulting, the things you say are too.
do you know the name of this song??
Sounds really good!!!

Such a good song

whats the name of the song?
so clean ZOMGROFLMAO
yes I know malmsteen had never played this licks but this man has malmsteen sound dress like malmsteen
you have to recognize that he loves malmsteen and wants to be like him

that was brilliant!! i normally dont like this type of guitar playing but it had the fucking lot! excellent 10.5 out of 5
The official Norifumi Shima site has quite a lot of info!
Who cares if he's just like Malmsteen?!
I mean, Malmsteen is amazing, so if this guy is just like Malmsteen, this guy is also amazing. And, if you'd never heard Malmsteen before, you wouldn't call him rubbish then. So anyone who calls this gut rubbish cause they think he copies Malmsteen is stupid.
what song at 0:55? it's like i've heard it before
Norifumi Shima is amazing!
He's very similar to Yngwie specially in the clothes, the hair, the strat but... well, the last thing isn't wright, so he could be similar to Eric Clapton LOL
But, his music is really different to Yngwie's, specially because he use lot more scales than Yngwie.
Good player, good song... I will look for more!
Thank you for your guitar playing!!
Greater than Malmsteen and not annoying.
malmsteen wanna beez ...i can get the chinese version on yngwie at my son's birthday ..he does the job an much cheaper...they even copy guitar players thats amazing...i can buy 1 chinese yngwie an a japanese steve vai to teach me
Awesome.
Its all neo-classic so its bound to have some simularities besides Shima is a lot changing in his sound. I find Yngwie sounds the same a lot.
This guy is good! Congratulations man!
Why are you guys insulting this guy for? It's not like he's the one saying he's better than Yngwie! He obviously never called this sub-genre his own 'cause then Yngwie's song "Liar" would've been dedicated to this guy, and not John Norum. So why don't you guys show some respect. i also find he does but it fucking works look at him go lol very cool song
guys, explain me more about his picking technique pls
how do they get their hair like that? i mean all curly and fluffy..
I also thought I heard a little bit of a Paul Gilbert influence in that.
He's emulating Yngwie's style, I doubt that he would even be anything like this if he didn't steal Yngwie's tone, guitar, and overall playing style.
Is this an actual song or just improv?
@KNVBKing Dude, relax people are just having some comment. They aren't haters. Those people just have a different opinion than you and they're bringing it in a very pleasant way. Which is something you don't do.
He doesn't sound like Malmsteen at all. just because he plays Neo Classical Licks, doesn't mean he's ripping off Yngwie.
Yngwie didn't invent those licks.
very good!
exelent!!!!!!
