You got to remember that these people that get offended WANTS to get offended and creates these meaningless "rules" so they can have power over people, often seen on campus. If you're not a weak-minded person you don't bend over for these laughable childish behaviours. I follow logic and common sense and that is it.
Eskimo for Americans and Inuit only for Canadian and Greenlandic people. Eskimo isn't offensive to American natives generally, and it's only offensive to Canadians because it's the old term, so it's likely to be used with malice.
It was used derogatorily to Canadian Inuit for many years, especially as part of the Residential School System, which is something I recommend you look up. They did an absolute number on our people, beating the language and culture out of multiple generations, including both of my parents. I understand the point you and Karl are making, but the Eskimo/Inuit thing is something we take very seriously in our area. Like coast2coast00 mentioned, it's not an offensive term to every group across the Arctic, but it is something that will probably get you a punch in the face if you said it at a bar in certain parts of Canada.
I get motion sickness bad too, here in the UK me and the wife went on the ferry from Hull to Amsterdam for the weekend, I was at first, went and had dinner, got our free champaign, but as soon as we entered the english channel the sea was choppy, that was it I laid down in the cabin the whole night until we entered port, missed all the entertainment onboard, was the same coming back, really annoying having motion sickness, felt bad for Karl.
