  • A Sony a6700 cinematic of the Marnix Bowl Summer Jam in Amsterdam. Shot with Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 in 4K 24, 4K 60 and SLOG3. Was so much fun shooting this skate jam and a great practice to test out the rolling shutter performance.
    Special thanks to True Soldiers Productions & Urban Sports Week for organizing this event and to all the skateboarders for showing their best!

    I love your images! Would love a video showing your settings and workflow! Is it just a simple LUT or do you need hours grading?

      Thanks! I filmed in SLOG3 in 10 bit and graded with "Neutral" Phantom Lut as a base. On top of that I did a subtle creative grade to make it a bit warmer.

    do you use active stabalization or standard for stable clips? looks so cool!

    • @KaspervanDijk

      Thanks! Most of the time I just use standard. Only when I make a walking tracking shot I use 'active' or catalyst browse with a shutter speed of 1/200 to minimize motion blur.

    I love this video.
    I recently put a deposit down for this camera. However, a lot of UA-camrs complain about the rolling shutter, which has me second guessing my decision. But then I see stuff like this where everything is sharp and looks great with fast movement.
    Are there tricks to eliminating rolling shutter? Is the A6700/FX30 having "bad rolling shutter" overblown by UA-camrs and it's totally fine for 95% of situations?

    • @KaspervanDijk
      @KaspervanDijk  10 місяців тому

      Thank you! I haven't found any issues with rolling shutter, even during this shoot. Compared to the a6500/zv-e10 the rolling shutter is much better. It may not be as good as an FX3 in theory, but in practice I found it to more than good enough.

    Awesome video.

    • @KaspervanDijk
      @KaspervanDijk  9 місяців тому +1

      Thanks! It's a combination of manual focus and human detect auto-focus. When shooting in 24fps I put the Focus Speed on 4 & Sensitivity on 3. I find it to be a nice middle ground. When shooting 60fps I put to speed & sensitivity a bit higher.

    great video...did you use luts? or how did you colorize?

    • @KaspervanDijk
      @KaspervanDijk  9 місяців тому

      Thanks! I used 'Neutral A7s3-Legacy' of Phantom Luts as a base to get a neutral starting point. Then I do some minor exposure and color corrections. On top of that I sometimes use a creative Lut to portrait a certain mood.

      I only shoot short clips in 4K 60 and after changing "Auto Power OFF Temp" to "High" I have no more overheating problems. I also heard that updating the firmware of the camera can help with the overheating issue.

    • @KaspervanDijk
      @KaspervanDijk  10 місяців тому

      Thank you! I used 'Neutral' Phantom Lut as a preview lut in camera. So I just expose by eye trying to safe the highlights with zebras when possible. I guess I just expose 'normally' and don't purposefully overexpose. I rarely use the exposure meter to expose though.

      It's important when you want to have natural motion blur in day light. For example, when shooting at f/2.8 in 24fps in daylight you have to reduce the light hitting the sensor to be able to use 1/50 shutter speed. @@lxi5464
