- A Sony a6700 cinematic of the Marnix Bowl Summer Jam in Amsterdam. Shot with Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 in 4K 24, 4K 60 and SLOG3. Was so much fun shooting this skate jam and a great practice to test out the rolling shutter performance.
Special thanks to True Soldiers Productions & Urban Sports Week for organizing this event and to all the skateboarders for showing their best!

that so cool that in 2023 just budget camera can give such a good quality
Yeah, consumer mirrorless cameras are amazing these days
I love the break in the music when the skater falls
Great build-up and story beats! Colors look great too
Thanks a lot!
I love your images! Would love a video showing your settings and workflow! Is it just a simple LUT or do you need hours grading?
Thanks! I filmed in SLOG3 in 10 bit and graded with "Neutral" Phantom Lut as a base. On top of that I did a subtle creative grade to make it a bit warmer.
@@KaspervanDijk so cool, is dehancer doing a lot of the work to make it pleasing?
@@jaymills1720 I don't use Dehancer. The Neutral Phantom Lut plays a big role though.
Love these vibes! Really nice job capturing this. Looks dope! 👏🛹
Thanks a lot!
Great work!
Good color & style!
Amazing!
Thank you!
That was awesome!
Thank you!
I rarely comment on any video… That was an excellent capture and edit… well done!
Thank you! Appreciate it!
do you use active stabalization or standard for stable clips? looks so cool!
Thanks! Most of the time I just use standard. Only when I make a walking tracking shot I use 'active' or catalyst browse with a shutter speed of 1/200 to minimize motion blur.
Heel mooi en spannend verslag, man.
TOP!!! 👍
Dankjewel man!
Great Video!
Thank you!
Yooooo
I love this video.
I recently put a deposit down for this camera. However, a lot of UA-camrs complain about the rolling shutter, which has me second guessing my decision. But then I see stuff like this where everything is sharp and looks great with fast movement.
Are there tricks to eliminating rolling shutter? Is the A6700/FX30 having "bad rolling shutter" overblown by UA-camrs and it's totally fine for 95% of situations?
Thank you! I haven't found any issues with rolling shutter, even during this shoot. Compared to the a6500/zv-e10 the rolling shutter is much better. It may not be as good as an FX3 in theory, but in practice I found it to more than good enough.
Fabulous 👌 Didn't you face any overheating issues while shooting?
Thanks! No, after changing "Auto Power OFF Temp" to "High" I have no more overheating problems.
👏
🥰
Focus is so on point! You use auto focus tracking?
Awesome video.
Thanks! It's a combination of manual focus and human detect auto-focus. When shooting in 24fps I put the Focus Speed on 4 & Sensitivity on 3. I find it to be a nice middle ground. When shooting 60fps I put to speed & sensitivity a bit higher.
great video...did you use luts? or how did you colorize?
Thanks! I used 'Neutral A7s3-Legacy' of Phantom Luts as a base to get a neutral starting point. Then I do some minor exposure and color corrections. On top of that I sometimes use a creative Lut to portrait a certain mood.
Thanks my friend. A few days ago I bought an A6700
Hi kasper just wanna check if you had any issues with the overheating by shooting at 4k 60 because mine sadly has this issue
I only shoot short clips in 4K 60 and after changing "Auto Power OFF Temp" to "High" I have no more overheating problems. I also heard that updating the firmware of the camera can help with the overheating issue.
Sounddesing. Editing. Color grading. All 10 out of 10. Thanks for the inspiration. It's amazing what you get out of the 6700!
Thanks a lot! In the end a camera is just a tool :)
I agree with you! The most important part is behind the camera: eyes, mind and heart! I loved the transition between the video and the music at 39 seconds!
Great job! Did you have to overexpose SLOG3 or leave it at 0.0?
Thank you! I used 'Neutral' Phantom Lut as a preview lut in camera. So I just expose by eye trying to safe the highlights with zebras when possible. I guess I just expose 'normally' and don't purposefully overexpose. I rarely use the exposure meter to expose though.
a7s3 or fx6 lut version for Sony a6700?@@KaspervanDijk
@@MARSimagination wondering the same thing👆
I use 'Neutral A7s3-Legacy'@@MARSimagination
overheating issues?
Since I changed "Auto Power OFF Temp" to "High" I have no more overheating problems. Before that it happened only once while filming 4K24/4K60 almost non-stop for about an hour.
Do you use any ND filter?
Yes, I used an Urth 2-32 Variable ND filter
@@KaspervanDijk Is it necessary to have that ND filter? Sorry, I'm a beginner and want to achieve something like what you did.
It's important when you want to have natural motion blur in day light. For example, when shooting at f/2.8 in 24fps in daylight you have to reduce the light hitting the sensor to be able to use 1/50 shutter speed. @@lxi5464
@@KaspervanDijk Thank you for explaining. I'll purchase the same Urth filter you have but should I get 55mm? It's for my a6700 and Sigma 18-50mm, both will arrive tomorrow. I'm excited!
Have fun! I buy filters with a diameter that fit my largest lens diameter (72mm) and use step-up rings for my other lenses. @@lxi5464
