Polishing the Ferrari F40's iconic rear window | Beyond the Details - Ep 5
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 чер 2024
- Welcome to Beyond The Details, hosted by Tim McNair of Grand Prix Concours. In this series, we’ll be following Tim as he travels America performing concours-level preparation to some of the rarest, most expensive and exclusive vehicles… in the world.
This week, Tim works his magic on the GOAT: the Ferrari F40. After a thorough wipe down of the exterior, Tim lifts the front hood to both clean it and admire the amazing carbon fiber and kevlar weave that makes up the majority of the body panels on this amazing Italian supercar. The highlight of this episodes, however, is the polishing of the iconic louvered Lexan rear window.

It would be so helpful to have a list of the material and tools that Tim uses in an episode. I've managed to figure out a few details (get it? "Details...") regarding sprays and polishes but it's always informative to see what a pro uses for this kind of work. Lots of fun to see each episode.
Exactly , they usually turn the bottle away from the label , 🙄🙄
Yeah, especially what was used on the lexan/plexigass rear window.
@@desertwindauh Pretty sure it's . He used same stuff in another video.
I love these episodes... can these be longer please? 20-25min especially on these Icon cars. Great content!
That was totally unexpected to see JC in the car! Wicked funny! Made me chuckle. I would’ve done the same tho, what a car!
I would honestly love to see some sort of econobox commuter get the treatment, like an eight year old base model Corolla. I want to see this because I think it would be interesting to see how much of a difference it would make in the appearance of the car. I'm willing to offer up a blue 2005 Scion Xa in desperate need of some major attention but honestly any daily driver form the staff lot at Hagerty will do.
Yup, love this series. Tim is a natural.
What an absolute beauty!
Tim or the car?
But enough about Camisa…
I love these videos. I hope Hagerty keeps on uploading them.
I do too.
Not the fastest anymore, but still the coolest car ever made. Awesome video. Thanks for posting!
Watched it again and loved it even more
Not a huge Ferrari fan but the F 40 is bad ass !
unexpected clean up on the drivers side.... Aweomse video!! beautiful beautiful car!!
Really liked seeing Jason sitting in there!
"The F40 is original if the quality is bad" XD
I love this series!
Seeing Jason in and around the car made this already awesome video... awesome..er.
HOLY F**K that is a gorgeous car
I'd LOVE to see a full detail on an Alfa Romeo 8C. Or a 33 Stradale. Sorry, I know they're rare, but you asked...
I had a 33 Stradale lined up, sold and moved to Europe. I’m on it though….
The F-40 will always be my favorite 'Rarri. Man are they sick and extremely ahead of their time!!! What I wouldn't give to take one for a rip!!! I remember the F-40 and 959 posters I had on my wall as a kid to name a few. I was big on building models too. I would spend DAYS perfectly assembling and painting all the tiny parts and details using toothpicks for the extra small stuff. Ahhh the 'Rich Guy Catalog' AKA Griots Garage LMAO. Good products nonetheless. Man the F-40 is F'N TIMELESS! 💙
Love these videos! Theyre pr0n and you know it! Lol
Do a Toyota 2000GT or Jaguar E-Type next please!
Very awesome, I do love to see things like this!
Love this series!
Do a BMW
What is the window actually made form? He calls it polycarbonate/lexan and plexiglass/acrylic they are separate materials with different properties. Polycarb is MUCH harder to hand polish to a scratch free finish than plexiglass. That is one way of differentiating what you are working on. If it polishes to a clear scratch free finish easily, then it's most likely plexiglass/acrylic.
If it´s an original window is made of Lexan´s polycarbonate with an anti-UV coating.
@@dexter2811 Makes sense. You could see how flexible it was when he was polishing it. Plexiglass/acrylic wouldn't have benne that flexible. Also plexiglass/acrylic would be too prone to shattering if something impacted it.
Amazing😍
Amazing
Which detail spray did you use on the right door sill area?
Gorgeous! Can you guys do a 1984 Trans Am?
Beautiful Ferrari. My favorite. Red paint like a sheer gown on a bombshell woman, White knuckle performance like Enzo preferred , and Italy Green epoxy because Gray is for rain clouds .
I’ll need some time alone with this video.
I'd like to see an Aston Martin V12 of one model or another, getting detailed.
Like the Vanquish
You should do a 5th generation ZL1.
Feel like dave should be all time host for hagerty!
Hey sir and hagerty I want to ask, is this the only F40 you have seen with the green sealant ????? By the way at 10:36 there’s one imperfection on the side horse emblem lol
For those new to the F40, at about 1:38 you’ll notice the wide rear tire. The width actually extends about 6” past the left side of your screen which scales to roughly three feet in person
The tire is not 3 feet wide lol
Toothpick guy is back
stupenda
I have some polycarb windows on my cab, been looking to make them more clear, whats the product you used for the plastic window?
Rolite plastic polish system for aircraft. Three steps, by hand or buffer
Surely the rain water can get in onto the engine through the slots in the plastic bonet cover? 🤔 I know it needs ventilation for cooling but won't it get water logged?
nicee!
A bit off topic but I wonder if anyone knows if you can nicely polish significantly scratched piano black plastic?
Dream garage has an f40 and a P1. A guy can dream.
Do the Paganni Zonda
I'd like to know what that magic spray is
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Would love to see Larry Kosilla / AMMONYC partner with Hagerty. I love the other Hagerty content, but Larry's detail videos are the best.
You might want to check the Redline Rebuild videos, Larry was already on.
Is the rear screen really Lexan, or is it polycarbonate or plexiglass?
Poor Jason, just wants to drive an F40. You guys should let, I hear hes pretty good at doing videos or something like that.
you should be doing my dacia, I hate washing cars :D
Fix asta trebuia spus!
Do a 2003 miata soon please. Lol i know everyone's gonna laugh but i mean it. Its my fav car
3000 mile F40. should be confiscated from owner
3000 road miles? Yes take the car and give it to someone that will drive it. 3000 track miles, I'd say the car is being well used.
Agreed.
I've driven 3k miles in my mx5 in the last month...sad to see it not been used for what it was intended for.. Enzo would be pissed....peace
I'd have to say McLaren F1 for the next car since it looks like you guys have access to pretty much anything hahaha!
He already did an F1
@@SMlFFY85 Damn. Not only have they already done an F1, I've actually already watched that video and I loved it, I just forgot!
What about a comment on the products you are using to spruce up these incredible automobiles. Inquiring minds want to know.
512TR
I mean, can you really blame Cammisa for being in there? I know I would spend every second I could in an F40, if I had the chance.
3000 miles ! It's as if the owner didn't enjoy driving it .
LOLZ
Just another FIX IT AGAIN TONEY .WHATCCAN GO WRONG WILL GO WRONG .
Sup
I highly doubt it is all sprays and rags
3000 miles F40....
I really wish this guys show was a bit more than "man rubs car with microfiber". He really doesnt do anything. It feels like 11 minutes of b-roll.
Indeed ... We see nothing... But is there anything to detail on this car? It is quite clean already !
Yeah , $2400 detail to rub towels 😂
Where’s the Wine and Croissants? This snob stuff doesn’t appeal to me. And I have about half a dozen cars and motorcycles insured with Hagarty.
Thank god you don't run a media company then.
@@SMlFFY85 troll
Ew... Ferrari.
Please do more on other cars, not these.
Overpriced car, silly plastic rear glass
Yeah man, tesla is faster too innit.
Fav car of all time. Almost makes me teary eyed seeing it up close in so much detail. Simply awe-some.
