loved every episode of getting the Ktm back running man! got yourself a new subscriber! Soon getting my 2015 Husqvarna 450 Supermoto back from the dealer, have a good day man
I just got the 2022 690 I did a bunch a research on the bike before I got it. I found out that when adding a new muffler, an SAS delete, fuel dongle, and the air filter will make the bike run beautifully. I’ve heard some off stuff about power commanders but then every-time I talk to someone in person they say different 🤷♂️
The confusion is real! Haha I struggle with the same responses but if your going the full boat with all of those mods, I would probably go with a PCV to be “safe”. If anything, it will keep the bike in check and prevent long term damage but will also give you a boost in power and helps your power curve become more linear. When the PCV was working and on my 690, I could feel a difference in power. I have a new one (warrantied) sitting on my desk waiting for me to throw it on and a tune from Rottweiler ready to go! Just my 2 cents from experience of mine failing, I would run at least some sort of tune to be safe!
Therese are great vids! I'm really sorry but watching someone else struggle and fixing it is actually entertaining 😅 it's a lovely bike you've got there
Haha thank you! I figure I might as well show my struggles, stupid decisions, and my amateur mechanic skills so everyone can either enjoy or do the opposite 🤣
Yo I am not 100% sure if the European and U.S. versions of the bike are entirely the same but as far as I know you need the power commander not to make the bike run but to make sure your engine is safe. The new KTMs are running very lean to meet EU environmental regulations despite being large single cylinders. When the catalyser is removed or the header is changed in most cases you have to run a different mapping to make sure it does not end up running too lean to the point where it might damage the engine. Just wanted to put that out there in case. Nice to see she is back alive though!
I have looked into multiple resources and I feel like it’s always a 50/50 of you should and shouldn’t run a power commander. So confusing! When talking to both the dealer and Rottweiler they said it doesn’t “have to” unless you have the fuel dongle or o2 sensor. But who knows if that’s true.. Either way I have the new warrantied power commander sitting on my desk with a fresh tune from Rottweiler that I’m waiting to make a video to put on the bike. I hope someone can settle the debate for good!
@@LifeWellRidden im not an expert but what i have read is that you dont HAVE to use a powercommander/flash the ecu but it will run lean if you dont and cause extra heat which makes the engine wear faster. But thats over a long time
Hey man, wanted to let you know that I had a 2020 SMCR and I had exactly the same issue as you. One day it would not start. Took it to MCC and they replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, and nothing fixed it. They took out the power commander and it started working again. Oddly though, I reinstalled the power commander and never had the same issue happen again.
Almost exactly the same as me! Minus the fuel pump and fuel filter.. What i was told is that it could be the fuel stabilizer you put in over the winter, too much can cause a lot of damage.. Did you use stabilizer before putting it up for the season??
@@LifeWellRidden i tend to ride year round as long as there is no salt or snow on the road and just layer up more so I have only winterized one bike since I started riding.
@@JQiRamos Oh heck yeah! I'm going to give that a shot this year and see how it goes, I used to be the "alright its 50 out I'm done" kind of guy but will push it this year!
PCV helps with the AF ratio of the bike but not essencial. I have a 690 with exhaust and not even fuel dongle and works fine, just hot because is lean of the emissions. PCV makes the bike more efficient if you do mods in the bike.
When you took the battery out of the bike, did you unplug the battery to charge or did you leave it plugged up? The only reason I ask maybe when you disconnect the battery the power commander lost its memory that’s why they use the stock on harness
Thanks for the awesome content , Just bought a 23, Do you think I could skip the power commander and just leave the fuel dongle and slip on? The only other mods I’m considering is a raid garage filter with storage canister, And maybe canister Emission delete? Thanks
Thank you! It’s a hard one, the PC will help even at the light mods of a slip on and dongle but if your looking to add more in the future, I would just get it now, my opinion! You will always want to get more hahaha
@@scott1111 well your going the same route I did when I first got the bike and those little changes will make a huge difference! I would stay tuned as I have a whole box of parts sitting waiting for spring like the Rottweiler Intake, SAS delete, Cumpan Dash and a whole bunch of other bling bits so I could give a better answer after that!
Word of advice you only need a power commander if you are changing the air going into the bike changing the exhaust it's only changing the flow of air blowing out of the bike you do not need a power commander at worst all you will get is a popping sound when you decelerate
