Six years later and I still get chills hearing that choir. I missed out on getting the soundtrack album for Oblivion and I swore I wouldn't miss out on Skyrim. So within a couple of hours of starting the game I ordered a CD set. I didn't realize it until I got the CDs in the mail that they were autographed by Jeremy.

He is also very egotistical and just a pain to work with (as said by some devs)... Honestly I was devasted by this news, and I understand why they wouldn't want him there, but his talent I have not seen matched and he is my favourite composer of all time :(

I’m 76 and replaying Skyrim has kept me sane during 10 months lockdown. This time round I graduated to mods after after completing most quests (excluding thievery, vampirism etc...not for me) I rate this quest as the best I have encountered. Because of my age I took the ninja route ( 100% sneak, enhanced dwarven crossbow, double enchanted Daedric swords etc) and I echo the sentiment that if Bethesda haven’t approached you they really should. Keep the ideas coming mate.
I'm not as old as you but I'm getting up there :) Just like the other guy wrote, games are a form of art. If I'm bored or feel a little lonely, I play Skyrim and go on a few adventures. Its kept me sane over the lockdown as well!

@@thealphatopian1031 Yes. But those are allegations not confirmed incidents with evidence (not to ignore or downplay the severity of sexual assault allegations). Has there been any word on him actually being given the boot? And what I meant was that, even from his work on earlier games in the franchise or other material he's made, there's simply almost no footage available of him composing or showing his process and barely even any interviews on it either, which is strange for such a high profile, well regarded composer, regardless of if it's games instead of movies that he composes for.
Some people are saying "It's a new game, write a whole new theme!" While I'm sure Soule could come up with something good, the theme from Morrowind IS the Elder Scrolls theme. Asking them to change it is like asking Lucas to get a new theme for a new Star Wars movie. I think doing variations on the theme is a great idea, but abandoning the main theme of the series... No. Just... no. This shit right here is perfect!
it's 2021 and I still feel the shivers down my spine whenever I hear the Dragonborn theme song. Powerful song that just triggers so much fun and memories playing Skyrim.
Man, whenever I hear the morrowind/skyrim theme, my gaming soul yearns to run through a long field in skyrim with my weapon in hand! Very beautiful feeling, really.
I used to load up Skyrim on my PS3 and listen to the entire theme before booting into the game--usually finishing up my blanket-nest from which I would proceed to play for the rest of the day. Those were the days man.
Need more people like Lampert who are so devoted to what they do. This is what great games are made of. I mean just look at him listening to his own work! So much emotion.
I feel like the theme should have had its own hook. For Morrowind, the drums were meant to mimic the sound of a heartbeat (Lorkhan's heart, the center of the game)
I listen to the theme over and over and never get tired of it....it gives you goosebumps. I work a second job on a freight dock and sometimes the environment can be harsh and brutal . I play this song just before I clock in....strange

Another soundtrack I listen to is Basil Poledouris's Conan The Barbarian composition. The two are similar in a lot of ways in terms of both their epic moments and their more intimate moments. Aside from loving Skyrim as a game, I think it appeals to me a lot because it reminds me of being a child and watching the conan films, or seeing incredible art work from Frank Frazetta and Roger Dean. I wonder if Mark Lampert or Jeremy Soule were inspired at all by the Conan Soundtrack?
Ayyy I was just listening to Conan the other day, and I like Frank Frazetta too (mostly to try and find what BGS ripped straight from his artwork for TES, lol) But yeah, I guess I wonder if Conan inspired any game music artists too. But you know which game's soundtrack it _definitely_ inspired? Ark: Survival Evolved! Tbh, Ark is like Conan's theme, but reinterpreted and elevated.

Damn I really would be interested how Jeremy Soule made those amazing, beautiful ambient soundtracks for the game. They sound beautiful. I wonder what Kontakt libraries/vsts he used for it.
even after 9 years after release and thousands of hours played, listening to the main theme puts an uncontrollable grin on my face. somehow this game managed to be so nostalgic and sentimental - like a shared childhood memory for hundreds of thousands of people. Critics and gamers can criticise Skyrim however they want (sometimes it's fair and deserved) but it trully is a miracle.
The Morrowind theme was just... It motivated me and made my day and made me so happy when I heard it every time I played. It started me on game design and wanting to create my own world to explore it as I explored Morrowind. They just keep expanding and expanding keeping the similar overall feel, it's just amazing each game :D I hope to make my own game similar as an adventure game one day.

the music fits the nords beautifully their ancient roots, they are a warrior race, the small subtle things for a fanfic i'm using i picture the main theme playing in the background while my female dragon born is giving a speech and she ends with we are NORDS and everyone shouts so i was thinking of creating an artistic dramatic flare with the music in the background by adding small text inserts here and there to give the reader the idea of the setting and mood
Elsweyr. We haven't been able to go there since Elder Scrolls I: Arena. The northern half is a desert and the south is a very jungle-like area. Most of the province is devoted to growing Skooma and Moonsugar.

It amazes me how TES games revamp its theme music so perfectly for each installment. I haven't heard of some of the earlier ones, but Morrowind, Oblivion, now Skyrim... they all fit the atmosphere so perfectly. Music definitely plays a big part in games, and I'm so glad games like TES has such great soundtrack. Will be waiting eagerly for 11.11.11

@VampyricStonehold That's not a harddrive, it's actually a Developer's version of the 360, basically that huge thing that is in place of the harddrive has the tools and other settings that developers use for their games and allows them to test their games on the console itself.
I mod the hell out of Skyrim, but the two things that I won't touch are the soundtrack and the audio FX. These guys are true masters. The 'ultra quality remastered ambience' mods are not needed!

Morrowind's theme literally encapsulates fantasy. It IS fantasy and all of the wonder and exploration that comes with the journey.
