The two sentences do not contradict. Just cause "anybody" could do it, does not mean it isn't hard to do. I believe he meant anybody capable of making an album in the first place, is capable of making a fire one. It is just difficult to do.
2Pac had me against the world, all Eyez on me one and two, Makaveli, and five or six other albums that were released after he died they were all excellent
Cube nails this. He lists the people that nurtured not just rap but hip hop. These are the guys that built the foundation for everything that came after them. A top 5 is hella tricky to list but here goes (in no particular order): 1. Ice T 2. LL Cool J 3. Rakim 4. 2Pac 5. Nas You could list so many more tho... KRS-1, MC Lyte, Young MC, Mos Def, Queen Latifah (love that woman)...
My top 5 would be 2Pac, Biggie, Nas, Jay and Em for the effect and influence they had on hip hop. My favorite 5 would be El-p, Slug of Atmosphere, MF DOOM, 2Pac and Brotha Lynch since they're the artists I like the most and enjoyed in all my time listening to hip hop. Honorable mentions to everyone in the Wu, Outcast, Kanye, Mos Def, Kweli, P Monch, Black Thought and the Roots, Sean Price and BCC crew, Little Brother and Justus League, Jean Grae, Brother Ali, Aesop rock, Evidence, all of Doomtree, Common. Too many other greats to mention.
@@mikenickerson9640 Kendrick always felt like a more mature Pac to me. Pac has classics, but quality-speaking Kendrick obviously takes it. GKMC and TPAB are some of the best albums ever. Being from Ireland 🇮🇪. I love these videos because I get to search for people I’ve never heard of. Rakim was a great shout out. My first taste of the music was a cassette tape of NWA when I was 10. Hooked. Music is the best way to share culture. Check out traditional Irish music, different but some amazing stuff. The great thing is a top 5 is nearly impossible because there are so many greats. black thought, andre 3000, rakim, MF DOOM, jean grae are my personal 5 favorites. i won't say "greatest" because that's hard to quantify, but those are the 5 who are very skilled and i enjoy listening to them.
You just said it. “Skilled.” You have to factor in impact and influence. “Skilled” or technical rap is niche, and will generally never be super popular unless you make things catchy. People aren’t alway trying to be analytical with their music. Music that affects your emotions will always be more popular and influential. Simplicity with the complexity. All your picks are classic nerdy hip hop choices.
@@Murmurrr This is a strange comment. I posted my 5 favorites instead of the 5 "greatest" because I don't care to engage in debates on greatness. Why are you replying to me talking about popularity and catchiness?
Another thing that impresses me with Pac’s resume is music aside, he was simultaneously starring in movies in such a short period of time too. Juice, Poetic Justice, Gang Related, Bullet, Gridlocked. No other rapper then or even really now was at the top of the rap game and also starring in movies. His work ethic in such a short period is what I admire the most. I think if he never passed he would’ve for sure been on that Will Smith and Denzel level of Hollywood by the 2000’s.
@@israelgulley9104 Donald deserves a lot of props in that regard as well. He's produced a lot of music, tv and movies. I more so just meant it's very far a few between.
@@bcerd007 You're entitled to your opinion though I obviously disagree. Aside from Eminem, no rapper has sold more records than 2pac. Most influential rapper. Even has a statue in Germany. And, it's not that he was the best at everything a rapper can be good at but rather the most influential on top of his talent. Many people consider MJ the goat in basketball, right? Well, he wasn't the best rebounder, blocker, passer or 3 point shooter now was he? No. But, he's still the goat. Same with Pac. He wasn't perfect. Had his flaws like any person/artist but still deserves goat nomination at least. Who do you consider the goat?
I don't listen to enough rap to have an actual top 5, but its always interesting hearing different artist say their top 5. Generally they have so much respect around the people they are putting in there.

@@KingLxtus he was talking about a hit album 🤦♂️
The two sentences do not contradict. Just cause "anybody" could do it, does not mean it isn't hard to do. I believe he meant anybody capable of making an album in the first place, is capable of making a fire one. It is just difficult to do.

2Pac and Nas are the goats of what we call hip hop
Jay Z
2pac, BIG, ice cube, Slick rick, Method man. I can go on forever.
shout out to cube
Cube nails this. He lists the people that nurtured not just rap but hip hop. These are the guys that built the foundation for everything that came after them.
A top 5 is hella tricky to list but here goes (in no particular order):
1. Ice T
2. LL Cool J
3. Rakim
4. 2Pac
5. Nas
You could list so many more tho... KRS-1, MC Lyte, Young MC, Mos Def, Queen Latifah (love that woman)...
Inspectah Deck’s opening verse of triumph has to be the greatest opening verse on any track of all time !
1. Eminem💗💖
2. 2pac
3. Jay -z
4. Kendrick
5.50 cent

Man, Jean grae is so overlooked, she shoulda blown up!

What about Donald Glover?
