I've seen this movie reviewed before but never as entertaining as yours. No one else did an Earl count either or even seemed to mention the reuse of that same zombie. Another great review as usual!
I was living in Wyoming in '99 during the swordfish massacre... It's one of those tragedies where you'll always remember what you were doing when you heard the news! I'm my case? The dishes
Alreyt pal I really do hope you keep making videos you’re now my favourite UA-camr mate would love to see you cover 30 days of night, hatchet, the decent , hills have eyes, wolf cop, dead snow ❄️
@ ahhh man I literally can’t wait now 😁 by the way I pissed myself laughing during you’re wrong turn video the part where the guy meets the cop and explains his friends are dead
I don't even need to tell you that the movie is unfaithful to the games. The House of the Dead is a _rail shooter,_ an arcade game where you take a plastic, wired controller called a lightgun, point it at the screen, and use it to fend off enemies. Further more, the plot is barebones: Dr. _Roy_ Curien (not Rudy/"Bane" from the film) was a typical mad scientist who created all the monsters and zombies that populate the house, and the AMS were the protagonists, specifically two agents named Thomas Rogan and G, former of whom seeks revenge on Curien for the death of his spouse (aka the "You must stop Curien!" character seen at the beginning of the opening credits montage). Finally, the game is famous as the piece of media that popularised the concept of the "Fast Zombie", as the undead in the game rush towards our heroes to attack them; a concept that would become the norm with movies like 28 Days Later the following decade. The game was remade for PC and Switch, you can play that if you're curious about the series (and you should, because House of the Dead is my go-to rail shooter game). But the question remains: Of all the games the producers could have chosen to adapt into a movie to capitalise on Resident Evil's movie and its success with filmgoers, _why_ choose House of the Dead? This movie was doomed with or without Uwe Boll's direction, because you can't take an arcade rail shooter and turn it into a cinematic action thriller.
I used to play the OG House of the Dead arcade cabinet in a bowling alley near me when i was a kid. Never finished it, but it was great fun and absolutely nothing like this movie. It's kind of like making a DooM movie and not having any demons in it... Oh wait, they did that too! XD
@@CountofMontiCHRIS IKR? Doom with a 24th Chromosome instead of Hell was an utterly braindead idea too. At least the acting there was pretty good, notably from our leads Karl Urban and Dwayne Johnson. I honestly can't believe that in the 4K home media boom, Universal chose to rerelease THAT on home video rather than something like Tales from the Crypt presents Demon Knight and Bordello of Blood. Another bad video game adaptation I could name (and the most recent one in the genre of bad video game-to-screen translations) is Halo: The Series, a television series based on the genre defining First Person Shooter Halo: Combat Evolved, again in name only. How bad was it? The Master Chief TAKES HIS HELMET OFF. And has sexual intercourse with a POW. Say what you will about Doom, at least they wisely chose to make a composite character for their protagonist instead of trying to adapt Doom Guy. And don't even get me started on the raw deal Resident Evil fans have been getting. Aside from the 2002 film, we have a so-bad-its-good second attempt from 2021 and a string of shitty fanfiction-esque sequels in between both films. Not to mention a terrible edgy TV show on Netflix. All I can say is thank god for Sonic the Hedgehog and the earlier Mortal Kombat, because otherwise, video game-to-screen translations would've been a wretched hive of scum and villainy!
This is one of my guilty pleasure films. The others are Alien vs Predator & the whole Anaconda series including the vs film. I’m a little more picky about the Lake Placid films.
Oooh he'd regret the day he challenged me to a fight. Especially when I turn up in a homemade mech made from cardboard boxes and egg cartons. Annihilated.
i BEG you review the "Sequel" for this, its actually better (which is not saying much with it being a SyFy original) but also doesn't take it self serious and has fun with it.
lovin the videos, just sat an binged for a bit, I wonder if you'd do a review of any or all of the die hard's, I'm honestly curious how you'd make it hillarious!
Thanks! While I do love the Die Hard movies, they don't really fit the 'monster movie' theme of the channel. If i ever branch out to other genres though I'll definitely cover them :D
@@CountofMontiCHRIS I can't believe how dense I was to not notice your focus of genre! XD DOH! anywho, I think a great one you'd enjoy reviewing I think would be House of the Living Dead, it's one of my own personal favorites or perhaps Evil Dead!
The absolute worst PoS movie I've ever wasted money on. I love bad movies, but this is irredeemable from top to bottom. The fact that Jurgen Prochnow and Clint Howard are in it actually made it even worse because it made me think I might get a fun, cheesy movie, but all I got was Uve Bolle pissing in my cheerios. Maybe if I had seen this for the first time at home during a good drinking/bad movie session I could forgive it, but instead I spent money with buddies to see it at the theater. So yeah, all that to say, I loathe this movie.
THIS MOVIE was such a huge disappointment to my younger self, I loved the games, with all the mutants and zombie variants. And this film had none of it. Also, it was pretty shit.
I loved this movie! It made no sense, just bad acting and shooting zombies. My 8 yr old self didnt care about the plot, i just wanted to see the shooting lol

This is why I subscribe 😅you’re amazing.
This film should be shown in film schools as an example of everything you don't do in a movie production.
And as an example that a film doesn’t need to be good to make money 😏
@@777-e1p Yeah Just needed a German "tax-law-loophole" à la "The Producer" to achieve that!
