How to Make 2-Ingredient Protein Candy - Chickpea and Chocolate Clusters

- These candies are easy and cheap to make and contain about 5g of protein per serving and a healthy dose of fibre making them a perfect healthy filling snack. The chickpeas are dry-roasted so that they are crispy, crunchy and low-fat. They are made of just two ingredients chickpeas and dark chocolate.

Ingredients
- 2 Cans 15oz / 400ml Chickpeas, in water
- 1 cup / 150g Chocolate Chips
Method
- Pre-heat oven to 350F / 180C.
- Drain and rinse the chickpeas then spread flat on an oven pan lined with greaseproof paper.
- Bake for about 50-60 mins, tossing every 15 mins until bone dry.
- Take out of the oven and place in a bowl with the chocolate and stir using the residual heat to melt.
- Spoon onto greaseproof paper using a dessert or tablespoon and chill to set.
- They will last for several weeks in an airtight container if the chickpeas are dried thoroughly in the oven. I tend to keep in the fridge and enjoy within a few days just in case I left too much moisture in the chickpeas.

Do you have to start with chick peas from a can. I bought a bag of chickpeas and not sure if i have to soak them, then cook, then bake them before putting the chocolate over them? #kitchenquestions

I just tried this out right now and they turned out really great. I had to melt brown sugar to add into my unsweetened bakers chocolate though, and they turned out really yummy. Thanks for the recipe.😊

Parisian M you do not lose weight by eating vegan or gluten free. You lose weight by not eating more kcal than you need.
What if I had dry chickpeas in a bag not can. Do I have to do anything to the chickpeas or just pour in like this
It won't work because those are raw and dried. Would taste strange. You need to cook those and then go in as shown in this Video.
After 60 min. at 350 degrees the chickpeas were somewhat tough (not crispy). Any suggestions?
Michael Morris sorry to hear that, it may sometimes need more or less as they can vary alot in size. Were they dry after 60 mins?
and do you finally just let them dry out (when mixed with the melted chocolate and poured onto the baking paper) or they can be put in the fridge for a while?

This Info. is not in ANY of the ingredients or directions. Chocolate - without sugar? Cacao Dark Chocolate Bar? Say like; 70% (or whichever percent suits your fancy), which would include, naturally, some, but not much sugar. Otherwise, without [any sugar] wouldn't this taste like a rather chalky and or, bitter treat?

hi, chocolate chips are semi sweet. They have sugar so I guess if they are not sweet enough when melted a person could add to the sweetness. I was just trying to figure out a carob type without sugar for those of us not eating chocolate or sugar( maple syrup, agave, etc.) bc of protocols.
