Thanks for the video. I used to repair and mod PS3/PS4 controllers many years ago, but never had to modify the share and options buttons until now with the Chinese replacements.
thank you so much! I used this tutorial to clean up the juice I got in my controller. I used a q tip and alcohol to clean it. This helped so much! :))))))))))
Before reading other's comments. I would like to thank you for the video. Along with about 4 or 5 others it helped me take apart and put back together my controler. Not pleasant at first as when assembled the lights were not working which was not the original problem. But it turned out the last ribbon cable insertion was the problem and a little readjustment got the lights to light up whilst still inserting. Starngely the problem of the x button not working was not resolved. It still did not work. So I was thinking it must be clearly dead. No amount of button pressing would get the 'x' button working. So as it was declared dead I allowed my self some extra well. It seemed to make no sense having seen inside becuase I could not imagine where the contacts were -But knowing there seemed all that insulation between the button resulting in me giving a forced push to almost bent the whole plastic fram. It worked. So in with the screws and not fingers crossed. How long it will work I do not know as it was intimitant before. But once it starts working it can work some minutes or an hiur. I will need to see. But would like to thank you for your helpful video. Thank You.
I just wanted to know if I could take off the option button and the capture one. Mine were attached so I have all a different color but those. Does it have to do with the model?
Does that touch pad actually still work???? I had to stop the video, as an electronic repairmen I can't watch metal tools used for prying up PCBs. A hairdryer would have loosen up the glue enough to get it off.
I agree with you, however he did say right before that the touch part doesn’t work with the gold touch button anyways so even if it doesn’t work, it doesn’t matter.
i tried doing this to both of my controllers, the first one worked fine but on the second one the r1 and l1 buttons didnt fit properly. Can someone plz help me.
on my dualshock 4 the movement button moves slowly and rotates. It seems like the button needs to be lubricated. How can I fix this so that I can move it smoothly.
This one doesn't, but only because of the metallic finish. None of the metallic touch pads will work, it screws with the sensor. That said I've done this method on normal ones and it works just fine. And the metallic ones will still work as buttons just not as touchpads, and honestly I've never once used the touchpad the entire time I've owned a PS4. but if that's something you use a lot, don't install a metallic touchpad.
I've done this for 3 controllers now. The first one is fully functional and works perfect but for some reason on the next 2 everything works fine except for the r2 button. That is literally the only button not registering. Do you have any idea why?
Anybody know if you can use slim/pro bottom shells for original controllers? I swapped the tops, but OG controller has different top shell thus I had to send my slim/pro shells back. But I can't figure out for the life of me if the bottom is the same since I didn't get the bottom to play around with... so, can you use pro bottom shell with OG controller, anyone know?
shouldnt had done what he did. next time use a hair dryer (or if you have a heat gun) to melt the glue under the touchpad which makes it easier and much more likely to finish and properly get it off and on
You can do the touchpad but the little white thing you have to place over it for it to press is such hard work to put in the right posistion because it just slips out of place when you put the motherboard back in
Bless up. Your video was very helpful for me and it was my first time doing this. People like you deserve the world
Thanks for the video. I used to repair and mod PS3/PS4 controllers many years ago, but never had to modify the share and options buttons until now with the Chinese replacements.
Thank you. This video helped out a lot. I used a thin metal mini spoon that cleams ears to peel of the board. It only took me 1 minute to get it off
Next time to make it easier use a heat gun or hair dryer to warm up the adhesive and then take it off, then warm it up again to make it stick 👍
Do you mean from the touch pad?

I'm glad it helped someone! thank you.

My lights won’t work on mine at all
Cool color way idea. ...looks sick. Thanks for droppin that knowledge.
Nice vid! What happens if you break the green thing on the d-pad? Does the d-pad stop working completely then.. .?
That’s cool but do you mine telling me the thing you took out for the d pad
My screws were so hard to take out because it was the first time I changed them.
He sounds like fearless
Thanks dude.
Couldn't stand the tapping an humming.
But over all man Good job
What size is the screw driver
Don't V2 controllers have different trigger shapes? It's like a long rectangle shape and the spring is harder to get to
I just wanted to know if I could take off the option button and the capture one. Mine were attached so I have all a different color but those. Does it have to do with the model?
Thank you!!!!!

Can you just take it to a gamestop or sum and get them to do it or not? I don't wanna mess my controller up.
No, I tried talking to them about it they said they dont do that kind of stuff they are only there to sell shit
Chace Marsee lmaoo
Do you need that green thing on your touchpad if you use a metallic one?
hey dude thanks for the vid it helped a ton !!
Hey Man I was just wondering what kind screwdriver are you using so I know which to use?
I love your assembly video btw, but I also love at 5:30 (that feeling of trying out the shit you bought online finally) "very nice, very nice" aha
Good video, do you know the difference between version 1 and version 2 ps4 controller
ItzMorgan yes inside the controller the led has one screw not 2 and the dead won't fit in the shell
sick
What's the name of the plastic behind the buttons
i tried doing this to both of my controllers, the first one worked fine but on the second one the r1 and l1 buttons didnt fit properly. Can someone plz help me.

Umm... Does the gold on the buttons ware off?
I AM DANNY EL Yes it wears off pretty bad. Not as much on the buttons as the back where your hands sit.
Depends what products you have some are just cheap paint and some are actually a alloy or coated properly
If you need them parts wish is recommended
My touchpad didn’t have the little bracket to hold the white piece in
Yo can you please link me to the tools you were using or tell me the names I can’t take the board of on the big middle button 12:10
i used a knife btw
My option and share buttons are connected to the springy bit the push down on the , do you know why or what version i have
Same

What's the movement button? Do you mean the power on button?
Why are you cutting the share and option buttons?
the gold paint makes them too tall. if you don't cut some off the bottom they won't press in when you put it together
may i know what name of tape on 20:50 , the black tape inside back cover
They are tiny pieces of foam with sticky stuff at the bottom. I have never seen them for sale on their own. They come already in the controller.
So does the touch pad even still work? You should never scrape a circuit board and you bent n crammed metallic edged tools at it, so I'm curious.

Would the control still work?before I buy these stuff
Im 2 years late but ofc if you do it right
Hmmm not sure what I did but L2 and R2 are not working. Thought I placed them in just as shown in the video with the spring in the slot aswell.
You need to make sure that the plastic bit on the back of the trigger hits the squishy bit but you've probably fixed it by now
I've done this for 3 controllers now. The first one is fully functional and works perfect but for some reason on the next 2 everything works fine except for the r2 button. That is literally the only button not registering. Do you have any idea why?
Don't know if you still have the issue, but could it be the way you put the spring back in?
Anybody know if you can use slim/pro bottom shells for original controllers? I swapped the tops, but OG controller has different top shell thus I had to send my slim/pro shells back. The l1 and r1 was my issue anyone have a solution I'm not waiting another month
Nightmare C.Baby83 most cheap buttons have that issue
Bruh, removing the touch pad circuit board 😳
No thanks
If your from au don’t bother controller setup different
What kind of screw driver?
I just used the smallest one I had laying around really. I think I use a different one every time I do one. It just needs to be smallish.
How deep do I have to cut for the share and options buttons
Just until you can see the plastic
And now my touchpad doesnt work :(
AshLey pedro u need to make sure to re attach the ribbon connector
shouldnt had done what he did. next time use a hair dryer (or if you have a heat gun) to melt the glue under the touchpad which makes it easier and much more likely to finish and properly get it off and on

I lost the spring...
Order some online
Luckily mines didnt pop right out
Great video , it helped me a lot. What’s your name on psn?
not telling ohoho ohoho gg gg
i put mine back together and now it holds down r2 without me even touching it
You didn't put that little spring back to its proper place.
@@bali5890 i found the issue the shell was not the right size
Hi
how do you deal with the touchpad ?
JackingPort you don’t you just leave it be
