After watching the full video, the thing that stuck out to me the most was the association of the child within the adult. I find cancer males don’t necessarily have a mother-like care like Cancer females can, but the Cancerean male more shows care and nurturing in a child-like way, like how a child will play pretend nurse or doctor whenever you’re feeling sick. I feel the signs from Aries to Cancer have these child-like endearing qualities in different forms. Aries has the child like care-free sense of adventure, Taurus has the child-like sense of knowing what it likes and has an appreciation and pride of its “comfort blankets”, Gemini has the child like sense of curiosity always asking the “why” of everything, and Cancer has the child like quality of showing others simplistic acts of care. It reminds me of one of my best friends who’s a cancer Sun and Venus. Anytime we go on walks, if he sees a flower, he’ll always go and pick it and when he gives it to me, he always presents it in this child-like way. Like how children see the sentimental value and beauty in the simplest of things that many of us adults take for granted, so when they present you something simple as a flower, to the receiver it’s a just a flower, but to the child or the Cancer, it’s a true gift to show they care.
I learn so much from observing the guests as living embodiments of the sign. There is such stark contrasts between each episode. I love that this podcast does so much to teach from all different learning styles and perspectives.

Living in Maine where the tides of the ocean are some of the more dramatic… this Cancerian time along with a Capricorn moon which is as close as it gets to the earth, we see dramatic differences between low and high tide. Ecologically this really cleans out in a deep way stagnant waters and the inner reaches of where rivers meet ocean and where there is brackish waters. It brings new richness with the strong reaches of currents. Tidal warnings are given this time of year. It can be ominous and change the factors for safe swimming and sailing and fishing boats…but is a necessarily upwelling and surge. As well it is the optimum time for beach combing to see what gifts are brought from the deep.
That’s an interesting notion about Cancer: a sign that is shy but wants to be needed by everyone. That desire to be needed by everyone obviously requires a certain amount of interaction that a shy person would steer away from.
I will always love cancers. I had a emotionally unavailable mom so it was tough. But my father is a cancer and let me tell you, the motherly/fatherly love that I got from him growing up was so damn healing. And I found out later that my favorite aunt is a cancer, she reminded me of my father when I wasn’t with him. Crazy.
I love the dive into Cancer symbolism here. Especially the part about the rhythms that come with caring for others, especially children, and how that teaches you to really tune in and be aware of what’s going on with them, materially, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Being able to empathize, nurture, and sacrifice for others is greatly undervalued, despite how vitally significant they are. It isn’t easy to be a caregiver, and it’s a role that can feel like you must lose a part of yourself in order to help someone else shine. If we were better at valuing and respecting this part of life, collectively we would be so much better off.
I agree! I've always been a bit "hmmm..meh!" About the fact I have no planets in Cancer but I literally sacrifice myself daily for others, my children, and in my work I've looked after other people's children, as a nanny in their own homes or as a Nursery worker. I had twin babies when I was aged 17. My Midheaven is in Cancer...!!

Cancer rising & cancer moon here, it's totally my episode! I'm drowned in water signs, and I don't have any Earth and Fire in my traditional planets, so I've been struggling with that for all my life. I hope I can gain some practical tips from this episode.

This was awesome! My daughter is sun conjunct mars in cancer, Scorpio moon and Pisces rising (conjunct Neptune)- so as my first cancer experience she’s taught me a lot about water placements! The only bit I would add is that her ‘sensitive,’ I see as sensory as the answer. When she is in her intuition her moods her empathy, I dilute it with swimming, sand, sculpting and maybe that’s the busy hands- etching piece because it works at helping her feel better or raise her signal. I am a Cancer moon there is so many things I relate too and experienced to from this conversation, I wanted to comment on coincidence, synchronicity spurious correlations whatever it is called. I have had this in every area of life and dreams, it is magic. A good example is Anthony Hopkins landed a role in a film and he was looking for the book it was based off, he had looked in many bookstores and couldn't find it. He came across the book, it was sitting on a bench. Then he was visiting the books author two years later and he told Anthony he gave the only copy he had to a friend which turned out to be the book from the bench.
As a Cancer rising, the cancer energy in this episode made me feel very understood and nurtured 😊 lots of great information. I especially loved the parts talking about history and people and ancestral remembrance and heritage, because I am an anthropology major and it just all clicked for me so well. These episodes on the planets and signs are really brilliant and so very helpful for more deeply understanding the meanings. I just keep listening and relistening (natal Mercury in Pisces 🤣). I love Acyuta-bhava but didn’t know Steph. All three of you are so knowledgeable. The first thing I thought of when the video started is - “oh the two guests are both wearing Blue.” 💦 very apropos for setting the mood visually.
I especially likely the image of the foreshore and liminal space for Cancer--where land and water meet, a rich environment yielding surprises. No wonder Jupiter is exalted there! cf with Scorpio which I like to correlate with estuary waters, the place where fresh water meets salt water, also a vibrant environment, brackish, full of effluvium. And then there's Pisces, the deep, salty sea with all sort of creatures and currents.
I have the sun, mercury, and the ascendant in Cancer. I noticed a topic come full-lunar-circle when you talked about the moon and the body keeping records/memory and then referenced the root of the word crab is "to scratch" or "scribe" and I immediately thought of a vinyl record and how it's circular and created by scratching. Then, towards the end of the talk, records were brought up again in regard to the pleasure of listening to a familiar song or the childhood tendancy to play the same song on repeat.
I like to think of the water signs thusly: Cancer relates to the ocean Scorpio is like a swampy wetland Pisces is a river teeming with fish swimming upstream to propagate (among other things floating with the current)
Cancer is also interesting as it correlates to the IC, the 4th house, representing home and the foundation for how we start to mature in our relationships with the outside world. Its opposite is the MC, the culmination of our identity in the outside world; our life’s work or major roles or contributions made. The MC is so outward, tangible, and objective compared to the IC. We give it so much reverence and respect, and treat the IC like its lesser, an afterthought. The MC is like center stage, and the IC is everything happening back stage and behind the scenes to make the show go on. Because the MC is in the forefront, it makes sense it gets more recognition; but where are we if our foundation is weak? Toxic or in a state of chaos? It affects everything that proceeds from that point on, of course. It’s funny how we don’t respect the importance of keeping our house in order, our hearts compassionate, of caring for others, and caring for ourselves. We think it is of lesser importance than status, image, material gain, everything material and outward. And sometimes we even fear it, thinking it is equivalent to weakness. But it’s amazing how little we value, respect, or make time for the foundation of our lives when it is so evident it affects the health and well-being of everything else. It’s similar to how much society ignores the importance of mental health and strong communities, believing it to be invalid, frivolous, or even detrimental to developing strength and independence. We live with the consequences. It’s up to us to care enough to change the way we contribute to our collective well-being. As an archetype, The Mother is full of significance, but tends to be treated as lesser than in our modern world.

It took me back to my trip to the ocean after experiencing a transformative *dark night of the soul* during the ♋ solar eclipse in July 2018. I went to the Pacific to renew myself and saw a crab undulating in the in the waves. Vivid memory. I note how I've been swayed by my emotional nature. 💙🌙

I think the sign can get a bit watered-down (pun intended!) and in this capitalistic world get a bit of the short stick, interestingly in a way that women have ("Just go have some kids and bake some cookies, Cancer!"), and this deep dive really restored the power and respect to the sign. Jupiter rising in Cancer here... eager to learn and theorize through personal experiences. My moon in Capricorn/7th house is working hard on mediating my Saturn in Aries and Mars in Libra. Being born a few days after a total lunar eclipse in Scorpio - having a close Sun/North node-conjunction in Taurus - also really plays out in my life. Kind of lived several different lives in my lifetime.
In regards to why we are intuitive?, & or psychic or both. Cancers we are ruled by the moon right, (breast and stomach) our intuition comes from our “womb” mee-wee as we are taught by an Elder at our sweat lodge ceremonies. Known for being motherly. Moms always know how to care & nurture. Most Cancers have this motherly/intuitive thing going on. A memory like an elephant I’ve been told I have too (lol). Maybe because we deal with all the emotions feeling all the moon phases as she travels through each sign. As a Sun-Mercury in Cancer, I really enjoyed this show. My whole life I have heard people say I am too nice, too soft, etc. although that may also relate to my Sun-Mercury trine Neptune as well. I think that teariness and crying jags are a thing with Cancers too whether out of joy or sadness. Also an affinity for animals because we can feel empathy for all sentient beings, not just human beings. Many thanks for this thoughtful exploration of Cancer.
I'm a Cancer with a Pisces moon, but because I've been told Cancer women are "softies," it's hardened me and made me more of an angry, desperate person. I want to be fierce and masculine and competitive, constantly have boundaries and I'd be the last person to cry in front of everyone ever. It's strange, because I often find myself being the opposite of everything Cancer stands for, maybe because I was TOLD that my sign is a soft sign! Whereas when I got my Vedic reading - I was told I was a Gemini with an Aquarius moon, and I felt more free to express my emotions because I knew I wouldn't be stereotyped for them. Also, I am very heated and on guard and also enraged when I see any girl in my school get degraded, especially sexually. The things I can't stand the absolute most is when someone gets pushed around and doesn't do anything about it, because I'd never be like that. Am I the opposite of Cancer? Or is there a deeper meaning to Cancer, and I'm this way because I actually care about people and myself? I don't think I'm a softie at all, and I probably don't think you are...don't believe that! :) Psychologically, whenever I'm told I'm a crybaby or a softie, it actually makes me a harder, tougher person. I think that's a natural thing, actually. So I would expect the water signs (who take astrology seriously) to maybe be the toughest of them all! And even if I'm not always a strong person, it makes me WANT to be. Though it also makes me have pent up anger, too, which is why I feel more comfortable with my Sidereal chart...
@@m.i.zeiler2892 Well, there is the myth that Cancers develop a hard outer shell to protect themselves, especially as they get older. That has been somewhat true for me. And Cancers can be very protective not just of themselves but of others, kind of like mother bears. And I believe that despite outward appearances the water signs are strong--you just have to look at the power of water in nature. Unfortunately, our society equates feelings with weakness, and it does sound like you have the strong feeling nature that is associated with Cancer. Your experience is certainly not what I would expect of a Cancer with a Pisces Moon, but I wonder about the rest of your chart--your ascendant, your house placements, and especially where Mars and Saturn are placed and their aspects. I have noticed that strong configurations in the chart can overwhelm the Sun. I'm glad you have found Vedic astrology makes sense to you but I also believe that within the Western system there is probably an answer to why your Sun sign doesn't resonate with you. Is it possible you were born on the cusp and are actually a Gemini or Leo? Or that your Pisces Moon is actually a fiery Aries Moon?
@@laurienrueger7552 My moon is 6 degrees Pisces and my birthday is June 29. My ascendant is Libra. My Mars and Jupiter are conjunct my midheaven. I think I have Mercury opposite Pluto as well as conjunct Saturn, with the North and South node all part of the opposition.

To add another Cancerian musician-- Noah Lennox aka Panda Bear. Cancer sun and Jupiter. He has a gorgeous song called Tropic of Cancer, and the first lyric in his song Alsatian Darn is "only feel a chill whenever I come out of my shell". A lot of his music is very warm, comforting, happy feeling, but is also psychedelic, deeply reflective, at times dark, and really spiritual in a simple way. He writes about his family a lot, has songs about his brother, wife and one really psychedelic, strange sounding song called Daily Routine, thats just about walking his daughter to school. He's pretty soft spoken and monotoned when he's just chatting but has some serious range and pipes when he sings. His Jupiter in Cancer opposes his moon in Sag, perhaps an interesting note!

About the fact I have no planets in Cancer but I literally sacrifice myself daily for others, my children, and in my work I've looked after other people's children, as a nanny in their own homes or as a Nursery worker. Cancer rising & cancer moon here, it's totally my episode! I'm drowned in water signs, and I don't have any Earth and Fire in my traditional planets, so I've been struggling with that for all my life. I hope I can gain some practical tips from this episode.

This was awesome! My daughter is sun conjunct mars in cancer, Scorpio moon and Pisces rising (conjunct Neptune)- so as my first cancer experience she’s taught me a lot about water placements!
The only bit I would add is that her ‘sensitive,’ I see as sensory as the answer. When she is in her intuition her moods her empathy, I dilute it with swimming, sand, sculpting and maybe that’s the busy hands- etching piece because it works at helping her feel better or raise her signal.

I have a Cancer moon on my midheaven and I can remember dreams I had as a child. Especially those that had a strong emotional effect on me.
Every Cancerian feels that burning nauseous stomach frequently.
June and early July Cancers have more confidence, movement and openness than those towards the end of July who are more reserved, soft and steady. I am a Cancer moon there is so many things I relate too and experienced to from this conversation, I wanted to comment on coincidence, synchronicity spurious correlations whatever it is called. I have had this in every area of life and dreams, it is magic. A good example is Anthony Hopkins landed a role in a film and he was looking for the book it was based off, he had looked in many bookstores and couldn't find it. He came across the book, it was sitting on a bench. Then he was visiting the books author two years later and he told Anthony he gave the only copy he had to a friend which turned out to be the book from the bench.
As a Cancer rising, the cancer energy in this episode made me feel very understood and nurtured 😊 lots of great information. I especially loved the parts talking about history and people and ancestral remembrance and heritage, because I am an anthropology major and it just all clicked for me so well. I love Sidereal astrology! I tend to really relate to my Sidereal chart.
These episodes on the planets and signs are really brilliant and so very helpful for more deeply understanding the meanings. I just keep listening and relistening (natal Mercury in Pisces 🤣). I love Acyuta-bhava but didn’t know Steph. All three of you are so knowledgeable. The first thing I thought of when the video started is - “oh the two guests are both wearing Blue.” 💦 very apropos for setting the mood visually.
I especially likely the image of the foreshore and liminal space for Cancer--where land and water meet, a rich environment yielding surprises. No wonder Jupiter is exalted there! cf with Scorpio which I like to correlate with estuary waters, the place where fresh water meets salt water, also a vibrant environment, brackish, full of effluvium. And then there's Pisces, the deep, salty sea with all sort of creatures and currents.
I have the sun, mercury, and the ascendant in Cancer. I noticed a topic come full-lunar-circle when you talked about the moon and the body keeping records/memory and then referenced the root of the word crab is "to scratch" or "scribe" and I immediately thought of a vinyl record and how it's circular and created by scratching.
Then, towards the end of the talk, records were brought up again in regard to the pleasure of listening to a familiar song or the childhood tendancy to play the same song on repeat.
I like to think of the water signs thusly:
Cancer relates to the ocean
Scorpio is like a swampy wetland
Pisces is a river teeming with fish swimming upstream to propagate (among other things floating with the current)

Cancer is also interesting as it correlates to the IC, the 4th house, representing home and the foundation for how we start to mature in our relationships with the outside world. Its opposite is the MC, the culmination of our identity in the outside world; our life’s work or major roles or contributions made. The MC is so outward, tangible, and objective compared to the IC. We give it so much reverence and respect, and treat the IC like its lesser, an afterthought. The MC is like center stage, and the IC is everything happening back stage and behind the scenes to make the show go on. Because the MC is in the forefront, it makes sense it gets more recognition; but where are we if our foundation is weak? Toxic or in a state of chaos? It affects everything that proceeds from that point on, of course. It’s funny how we don’t respect the importance of keeping our house in order, our hearts compassionate, of caring for others, and caring for ourselves. We think it is of lesser importance than status, image, material gain, everything material and outward. And sometimes we even fear it, thinking it is equivalent to weakness. But it’s amazing how little we value, respect, or make time for the foundation of our lives when it is so evident it affects the health and well-being of everything else. It’s similar to how much society ignores the importance of mental health and strong communities, believing it to be invalid, frivolous, or even detrimental to developing strength and independence. We live with the consequences. It’s up to us to care enough to change the way we contribute to our collective well-being. As an archetype, The Mother is full of significance, but tends to be treated as lesser than in our modern world.
With a 4th H Moon conj IC Scorpio I could not agree more. I have found home to be paramount.

I think the sign can get a bit watered-down (pun intended!) and in this capitalistic world get a bit of the short stick, interestingly in a way that women have ("Just go have some kids and bake some cookies, Cancer!"), and this deep dive really restored the power and respect to the sign. OMG, I have a crazy stellium in Cancer. IC/Moon/Mercury at 6, Saturn at 10, Sun at 25. Happy to be done with Pluto in Cap. It has not been easy for us these past 15 or so years. In regards to why we are intuitive?, & or psychic or both. Cancers we are ruled by the moon right, (breast and stomach) our intuition comes from our “womb” mee-wee as we are taught by an Elder at our sweat lodge ceremonies. Known for being motherly. Moms always know how to care & nurture. Most Cancers have this motherly/intuitive thing going on. A memory like an elephant I’ve been told I have too (lol). Maybe because we deal with all the emotions feeling all the moon phases as she travels through each sign. We can tell, very easily what someone is going through due to the fact, that we to go through these emotions with them. Moon & water connection… Like the water we are calm, always moving, sometimes crashing, sometimes “tsunamis “. We feel it all, even if we don’t want to. Cancers~ conduits? I love to heal, nurture, protect, love, create. I will relate with you or stay far away from you.

As a Sun-Mercury in Cancer, I really enjoyed this show. My whole life I have heard people say I am too nice, too soft, etc. although that may also relate to my Sun-Mercury trine Neptune as well. I think that teariness and crying jags are a thing with Cancers too whether out of joy or sadness. Also an affinity for animals because we can feel empathy for all sentient beings, not just human beings. Many thanks for this thoughtful exploration of Cancer.
I'm a Cancer with a Pisces moon, but because I've been told Cancer women are "softies," it's hardened me and made me more of an angry, desperate person. I want to be fierce and masculine and competitive, constantly have boundaries and I'd be the last person to cry in front of everyone ever. It's strange, because I often find myself being the opposite of everything Cancer stands for, maybe because I was TOLD that my sign is a soft sign! Whereas when I got my Vedic reading - I was told I was a Gemini with an Aquarius moon, and I felt more free to express my emotions because I knew I wouldn't be stereotyped for them. Also, I am very heated and on guard and also enraged when I see any girl in my school get degraded, especially sexually. The things I can't stand the absolute most is when someone gets pushed around and doesn't do anything about it, because I'd never be like that. Am I the opposite of Cancer? Or is there a deeper meaning to Cancer, and I'm this way because I actually care about people and myself? I don't think I'm a softie at all, and I probably don't think you are...don't believe that! :) Psychologically, whenever I'm told I'm a crybaby or a softie, it actually makes me a harder, tougher person. I think that's a natural thing, actually. So I would expect the water signs (who take astrology seriously) to maybe be the toughest of them all! And even if I'm not always a strong person, it makes me WANT to be. Though it also makes me have pent up anger, too, which is why I feel more comfortable with my Sidereal chart...
@@m.i.zeiler2892 Well, there is the myth that Cancers develop a hard outer shell to protect themselves, especially as they get older. That has been somewhat true for me. And Cancers can be very protective not just of themselves but of others, kind of like mother bears. And I believe that despite outward appearances the water signs are strong--you just have to look at the power of water in nature. Unfortunately, our society equates feelings with weakness, and it does sound like you have the strong feeling nature that is associated with Cancer. Your experience is certainly not what I would expect of a Cancer with a Pisces Moon, but I wonder about the rest of your chart--your ascendant, your house placements, and especially where Mars and Saturn are placed and their aspects. I have noticed that strong configurations in the chart can overwhelm the Sun. I'm glad you have found Vedic astrology makes sense to you but I also believe that within the Western system there is probably an answer to why your Sun sign doesn't resonate with you. Is it possible you were born on the cusp and are actually a Gemini or Leo? Or that your Pisces Moon is actually a fiery Aries Moon?
@@laurienrueger7552 My moon is 6 degrees Pisces and my birthday is June 29. My ascendant is Libra. My Mars and Jupiter are conjunct my midheaven. I think I have Mercury opposite Pluto as well as conjunct Saturn, with the North and South node all part of the opposition.

To add another Cancerian musician-- Noah Lennox aka Panda Bear. Cancer sun and Jupiter. He has a gorgeous song called Tropic of Cancer, and the first lyric in his song Alsatian Darn is "only feel a chill whenever I come out of my shell". A lot of his music is very warm, comforting, happy feeling, but is also psychedelic, deeply reflective, at times dark, and really spiritual in a simple way. He writes about his family a lot, has songs about his brother, wife and one really psychedelic, strange sounding song called Daily Routine, thats just about walking his daughter to school. He's pretty soft spoken and monotoned when he's just chatting but has some serious range and pipes when he sings. His Jupiter in Cancer opposes his moon in Sag, perhaps an interesting note!
