How does it fit snug into an audio bag with a battery sticking out the back like the one you have in this video? How does it lay flat, to keep it from slipping side to side?
Hello Akash, With the 702T there is no way to monitor live on a P. You would have to use WaveAgent from Sound Devices. This is a free software program that allows you to play back audio files on PC. It also allows you to view file metadata.
This looks like exactly the thing I need for untethered audio. I want to jam sync to a sony X70 so I can work untethered. I had a look at the 702T manual but I couldn't seem to find a step-by-step guide for jam syncing. Will this unit do the job for untethered jam sync'd time code and is it fairly easy to set-up - and, mostly, where can I find that information? Thank you so much!
If you are using the Sony PXW-X70 camcorder there isn't a way to jam timecode to the camera. You will have to rely on post sync. In this mode, audio is recorded to the camera and you record a simultaneous audio track(s) to the Sound Devices. Editing programs such as Final Cut X will then link the wave file from the Sound Devices to the audio recorded in the camera. It will create a clone that now has both audio tracks. The 702T and other Sound Devices equipment do have the ability to jam external devices via a 5 pin lemo. Usually connecting a cable from the lemo 5 to a camera will cause the camera to accept the external code. Some cameras require a menu option to accept the code. The 702T has a menu option for external sync. Menu 45 is for jamming code. It will compare code in the 702T to external code as well as let you edit timecode and user bits. Didn't realize they could use a rechargeable camcorder battery....AWESOME REVIEW!!! Who has the best prices these days?
Hi...I am using this device for recording bird sounds. Can you tell me if there is any way to directly visualizing the recordings on PC in live mode.
