After being stuck on Silver for a hot minute with Ryu. This video came into my feed. Watched it. Played Casual for 30 minutes. Mostly focused on punishing instead of being aggressive. Played Ranked for like 25 mins and got to Gold pretty easily and on my way to Platinum. Just slowing things down definitely helped me a ton
Obviously hoping this video performs well and gets views and such, but seeing comments like this is worth more than numbers. Thanks for watching and letting us know it helped!
Another one I’ve found helpful. You’d be amazed what you’ll discover by watching not only your own replays, but the replays of higher level players who play your character. I’ve followed the top five Ryus from the ranks above and their replays will show up in the followed player section of cfn replays. Very quick and convenient to jump in and watch some footage every now and then. Not every player plays in a way that is similar to you or to your liking, but there will be someone who will resonate with your style and who might showcase something you didn’t know before. If I do discover something I’ll jump straight into training mode and try it out. Then for that session i’ll look to incorporate it into my game. Bit by bit, you’ll flesh out your character and will eventually have lots of tools in your arsenal.
I've gotten to diamond with Chun Li but still have not watched ONE REPLAY YET! And with the frame data feature I know there's so much to learn! Thank you for this video and that suggestion in particular!
I'm happy that I'm already doing everything in this list, my major probleans currently are: - Poor combo execution - Missimputs - Missing DI punishes on tense matches - Forgetting my options like DI a fireball, use Dive Kicks as approach... On Platinun 2.
Slow it down perhaps? Try to never mash buttons, even in stressful rounds. Approach it rhythmically, like you’re playing a piano. Too many inputs and the music will sound like a mess. This has helped me, good luck out there
I know all of my options in the corner but I still panic. I usually just end up picking one of the option and hope it works. surely it isn't the way to play but I dont know what is.
Typically a player will have patterns they like to stick to. If you sit back for a sec and see what they like to do and find an effective counter-play you’ll almost always be successful. Overly aggressive players (unless they’re very high level) will tend to stick to one route and go all in with it. Some of these routes might include jumping in often to get an overhead combo link, spam DI, bait for throw loops, hyper aware of you whiffing, etc. once you generally download their game plan it’s easier to fight back effectively. Finding openings also comes with playing against opponents and learning when a character is plus or minus. There’s no shortcut to it, unfortunately.. just lots of awareness and practice.
Heres what I discovered. From New Challenger to 3 Star Silver was possible with basic instructions . However 80% into 4 Star Silver most peoples advice comes up short. I even allowed myself to be ranked down to 1 Star Silver just to retrace my steps and once again could not pass 80% into 4 Star Silver. My conclusion is that advanced players are hell bent on lumping Rookie, Iron,Bronze an Silver together as low rank and therefore give you basic advice. None of that helps when you are Silver. I recommend studying advanced level combos STARTING at Silver Rank. Normals, Anti Airs and 3 step block strings will not beat 4 and 5 Star Silver players. The matchups will also put you against Golds and Plats aswell so do NOT approach Silver like its low tier. Its middle tier , alot of players are stuck on it so you gotta learn more advanced level moves.
Im by no means a great player, but Silver is pretty easy. I didnt play SF5. I played SF4 a lot. I was always a Ken main. I got stuck in Silver with Ken for a bit. I learned Cammy in placement, never used her before. I went 2-8 in placement. I started at Rookie. I then went to Gold that evening. An 11 fight win streak, 2 losses, then 8 win streak, a loss, then 14 straight wins. Again my only training or practice was in placement. I never used Cammy in SF4. I went through Silver with 2 losses total. Then I picked up Honda and breezed through Iron and Bronze. I went like 10-10 in Silver figuring things out. Then 14 straight and I havent lost more than a game or 2 to Silver players in casual. When I see 1 star Platinum I know there is a good chance to get a perfect on them. 2 and 3 star platinum is where the transformation seems to happen. A 4 star Platinum player is a handful in a set. The understand neutral, when to not jump in, combo strings with a ton of damage, when they can start spamming a move. They can trap in the corner and kill, you cant use the same exact tactics round after round. I have beat 4 star Silver players with nothing but light punch butt drop. As Cammy I can use the assisted combo and nothing else to beat them, probably 60% of the time. Certain Characters are a menace at Gold. Modern Luke at 3 or 4 stars Gold is problem . He might be a bit predictable, but stopping him isnt always easy. Personally I find winning with Cammy the easiest, but there is something to be said for less popular characters. A platinum Dhalism or Blanka is something I dont see much, so it can be tricky.
im just sad because this game is kind of a joke. Before judging what im about to say, i have 13 characters diamond. I'm doing VERY well in this game and am confident with about half the roster. 1. the ranking system is really bad. its so easy through just playing the game to just level up. youre rewarded MORE for winning and a lot less for losing. If you win like half your games, you'll rank up. 2. If youre literally lucky, your "placement" matches can put you higher than you deserve. EVERYONE should start at Bronze and work up. just like its ALWAYS been. 3. Comboing to your Super 3 shouldnt be so easy. In SF4 they didnt make Ultras cancelable from EVERYTHING and often times if you wanted to combo into them, it COSTED something. Now everyone can yolo super 3, get bonus damage when in yellow health and reap all benefits. 4. Combo scaling makes 0 sense in this game. Sometimes doing LESS hits in a combo but hitting harder is often times scaled worse than medium buttons with more hits etc etc. it just doesnt make sense. Counter hit ultras also sometimes do the SAME damage as regular. 5. Drive Rush is broken and it needs SOME form of nerf. People shouldnt be allowed to just spam it all the time with little consequence. It could not cause counter hit on hit, be less + on block, cost more bars to do it, scale the damage more, literally any of these things and it would be more balanced and in line. 6. Earning Drive gauge for doing literally NOTHING in neutral shouldnt be a thing. Bare minimum you should need to do a special move or pressure. 7. Characters without an OD reversal (kim, gief, lily sim) should have all supers be invincible. its still super risky, and a fair way to balance them. It would help them immensely, and still not make them "broken" or "too good" Notice how they are all low tier?? Reversals are so important. 8. Gauge should not reset each round. Make people THINK at the end of rounds with how to manage resources. This adds a layer of depth to the chess match mentality of fighting games. When you just "give everyone full bar" it creates more yolo and people dont have to think about anything heading into the next round. I think SF6 is way better than 5, but people are trippin if they think its an amazing fighter. It's so bad and rewards constant button pressing and constant pressure. It feels like SF meets anime fighter
I agree with everything you’ve said. And at the same time I love this game. Hoping future patches address some of these concerns. I’d be surprised if they didn’t but we’ll see!
I think they committed too much to DI being the way it is for them to nerf it. It's Focus Attack from 4 all over again. But I HIGHLY agree that it at least needs to be 2 bars to do. Players will blow all 6 of them boys until it hits. Either that or make it maybe eat 1 less attack. A lot of times I'm hit by it because the opponent is mashing it out and it get hit between frames of a combo string.
It really is amazing how many people will jump in over and over and over again even though you've successfully anti-aired them every single time.

I just my Cammy and Jamie to silver, I’m trying to work on baiting enemies into what I want them to do/or where I need them to be

Whats your profile name?
How you going now 6months on?
How did you get to gold in 25 mins lol

Another really useful thing is converting from lights, if you can get a decent combo from a crouching light punch or kick you will rank faster.
Yeah especially seeing punish counters that combo into heavier buttons that can then be DRC'd into bigger combos.
I'll put these into practice! Excellent advice
Great video! More please!
When are yall gonna start uploading on Spotify again? Love the content on my commutes - not many Street Fighter podcasts out there!
real pro move for listing the source of the cammy pic, I approve

Statistically if you play JP or Ken, you will get to Master Rank really quick. On the other hand, if you play Zangief or Lily, it will take some time.

4 Easy Tips to be a better player.
Im having a lot of trouble with the games inputs. There were many games i lost due to accidental level 1 super or my inputs getting ate entirely
Slow it down perhaps? Try to never mash buttons, even in stressful rounds. Approach it rhythmically, like you’re playing a piano. Too many inputs and the music will sound like a mess. This has helped me, good luck out there

I still flub them too, but practicing them between online games in training helps get them fully into your muscle memory.
You just need 10 setups/mixups in your arsenal
What should I do vs oppressive pressure. It feels like my opponent never needs to stop attacking and I just get ground down. How do I find an opening?

From what I’m hearing ppl are flying through the ranks
You heard wrong, if that were the case people wouldn’t be saying they’re stuck and we’d all be Master by now. 😂
to be honest it's pointless to even play rank what just for a title lol

@@HemTight I believe the game has potential and its MINOR tweaks away from being amazing, but its not there at all right now. It feels very brain dead
