The Best Log Flume Ride You've Never Heard Of

- The Enchanted Forest Log Flume Water Ride at Rainbow's End Theme Park in New Zealand! This is a 4K On-Ride POV video of the attraction.
This is a great ride, and surprisingly well themed for a small Theme Park. Featuring both indoor and outdoor scenes, drops, Pirates, Pixies, and humour! Filmed with a good low light camera, so the dark ride sections show up really nicely. I hope you enjoy.
Filmed in July 2019. This is Winter in New Zealand, so the Water effects were toned down compared to normal. This ride is a great way to cool down in Summer as you get wet!
Rainbow's End is New Zealand's only Theme Park / Amusement Park. Located in Manukau City, Auckland, this is a great option if you enjoy attractions & rides and looking for something to do in Auckland.

Did they change something in the last ten years? I remember trolls where the treasure is. There was a little creature saying "Go back" just before you got there, and I think that's gone too. The Enchanted Forest used to have more animals.
Yeah it seems they gave it a slight retheme, though I'm not sure when!
I just don't get it. The ride goes from no theme to a pirate theme to animals (and I think I saw Pinocchio) and then to signs about stealing pirate treasure. There is no coherent story. I couldn't see wasting time on this attraction, given how much better other parks have done log flumes. Splash Mountain comes to mind, but for smaller theme parks, Knott's Berry Farm's Log Jam is the standard bearer.
@@KennyVee This is the only one in New Zealand.
@@KennyVee I think that's pixie treasure, actually. It curses you if you take any.
"Beware! Pirates ahead!"
*two random dudes chillin', watching logs float by*
"That's the most chill Pirate I've ever seen!"
@@ThemeParkOgre ‘So it would seem...’
1 ride, but with 10 themes
Lol accurate
Bahahahahaha
My thoughts exactly. It had no idea what it wanted to be 😂
It used be just elves I don't know why they added the pirates
Some log rides have music this one apparently has non-stop air compressor noise
This one was a hit at the Grammys!
I will say. I agree on this comment. As I was seeing this, the one thing it lacked, was that sense of sound. At some point yes there was some ambient noise, like the crickets in that one section... But for the most part everything was just eye candy... When I'm on a ride definitely want all my senses to be tickled, that includes my hearing too lol. Beautiful Log Flume, will not deny that. Just think they need to add a little spice with some sound that connects with the over all ride
I noticed that too.
Inside the enchanted tunnel there used to be background music and ghosts but it seems they changed it? Perhaps new owners or copyright removed?
Mom can we have Splash mountain?
Mom: We have Splash Mountain at home
Splash mountain at home:
I wonder if this one will get a Princess and the Frog retheme...
Splash Mountain at home has no splash, at least not on the plunge that counts.
@@ThemeParkOgre Looks like they'd just add it in there somewhere.
@@ThemeParkOgre that hurts
@@spderweb lol
Engineer: So, which theme do you want for your Log Flume? Jungle? Pirates? Elves?
Rainbow's End: yes
Wow! I love this
And we love you, Jenny! 😛
hi jenny!
Didn't expect to see you here.
LOL I knew I’d see you here Jenny
So THIS is how it’s in my recommends hahah, perhaps a video on themed log flumes is in the future?☺️💜
Man, the “theming” here is hysterical! I’m good with an enchanted forest, but why are there pirates? In a forest? And a couple of Easter Island statues? In a forest? And then what can only be described as the world’s longest shack. It’s all over the the map!
It's very "Kiwi", and I mean that in a good way! Check out the "Gold Rush" coaster video I have on my channel for some more fun theming. Spot Scrooge from a Christmas Carol! ua-cam.com/video/7tA9DnHHS6w/v-deo.html
The nature section never used to have props when I was a kid, the pirate section was just lily pads, the elf section played music from the grinch movie lol, and the second pixie section was haunted house where the frog says ''wait! go back I tell you!'' and a ghost pops out. Seems both improved and unchanged now. Still very silent tho lol.
@@HarryHodgman there was a fire during mid 1998 on the log flume, most of the ride was destroyed so they refitted it, maybe that is why its different, you rode the original ride before it was rethemed
@@explode5583 nah they would’ve changed it somewhere between 2004-2005 (that was the last time I went on it) they still had the spooky forest section when I was a kid.. they should bring that section back, that was the best part of the ride!
@@user-ix4bi6oe9m True, but I feel like the Forest is kind of outdated, Today we have More modern Rides like the Stratosfear and The 4D cinema, It would have been fun but I dont think it would hold up with todays standards, especially since the theme park has been removing the old rides (Pirate ship, Red golf ball thing, etc)
It’s like Splash Mountain meets Pirates of the Caribbean meets ET adventure meets a six flags log flume.. and I love it!
Actually it's Jungle Cruise meets Pirates meets Splash meets Pirates again meets a SF long flume LOL. This ride was amazing!!!
But don’t forget six flags log rides have the mini drops that keeps you going during the ride, that drop that goes downhill a bit if u know what I’m talking about
Like in log jammer (may it’s soul Rest In Peace) and the log flume at six flags St. Louis
Wow, that elf mushroom village was straight out of a psychedelic nightmare.
So let me get the story straight, Blackbeard is trying to kill a bunch of elves... Ya makes sense to me
The story we don't deserve, but the story we needed
lol
I know right like when has anyone ever mixed pirates and enchanted forest
He hates elves! He's EVIL! 😈
Sounds like a DnD premise
a wonderful clusterfuck of a ride, would love to go someday
There's so much to love about this but one of my favorite things is that The first pirate is sitting next to a box labeled stolen pixie stuff! Its the exclamation point that really sells it.
I like the random pirate guarding his "Stolen Pixie Stuff" lol
Title: "best log flume ever!"
Disney's splash mountain: "am i joke to you?"
My first thought was, "why is there no music"
I never said it was the best! The title was referring to it being a good ride at a tiny Theme Park in New Zealand. I've seen a lot worse Flume Rides at larger parks.
I'd love to for it get some music, though on the other hand going through the layout can be quite relaxing with little audio.
Title: didn't say that...
Splash mountain is better tho!!
saw mill, pirates, and pixies what a mixture
That is a really long log flume. The scenes inside were well done. Those conveyor belts really pick up speed when you go uphill. That’s unexpected!
Yeah we had a log ride in my hometown for about 30 years that had a conveyer belt and it used to scare me going up more than the ride going down.
This is a very charming attraction and well above the average flume ride. If I am ever in the area I will check it out. But top flume ride are one of the Splash Mountains or the one at Knott’s Berry Farm. The one at Knott’s is one of the original flume rides and still holds up today.
Agreed. As a low budget ride they did a great job here, but there are better Flumes out there for sure. Glad you enjoyed :D
Knott's is the best! Love that ride. Splash Mountain's lines can be an hour long and you practically walk right on the Knott's Timber Mountain ride. This one's good, though. Love, love, love the theming!
I'd put Ripsaw Falls up there too. Just a shame it doesn't run two boats at once like they planned initially.
@@aaronsarchive82 I went on Ripsaw Falls many years ago and a lot of the animation were broken at the time. I also felt there was a lot of dead space that is why I didn't include it.
Rip Splash Mountain😔
For a tiny park the theming was impressive, and not a bad drop either
Exactly! I think they did a great job with what they had to work with
A ride that last more than a minute sign me up where is there
Down in New Zealand :)
Its amazing that it's still going after all these years
They've done a great job upkeeping it!
Splash Mountain ain’t got nothin’ on this :p
I do legit like the idea of Splash Mountain meets Pirates of the Caribbean though
A New Zealander goes to Disney World and comes back with a bunch of notes. The morning of his presentation to his bosses at the NZ Theme Park, his kids rummage through his briefcase and mix the notes up. At meeting he goes.....ummm.....uhhh....well there was a forest and some pirates and it was on a log ride....maybe some fairies somewhere? #NailedIt
I didn't know they had this ride in Australia too! I thought it was New Zealand only 😜
@@ThemeParkOgre corrected for cultural integrity.
I loved how the pixies are ten times scarier than the pirates. Also the one pirate with his box that says "STOLEN PIXIE STUFF," it's like he has labeled it because he's going to move and the U-haul guys need to know where to put it LOL
I love seeing rides from smaller theme parks! they're always so fun to see and interesting to learn the history behind them :) glad this video was on my recommendations
Glad you enjoyed! I agree. It's always a joy when you find a unique ride while browsing UA-cam
What it feels like to be on acid and in a boat at the same time.
I love these kind of attractions!
It's a lot of fun!
That was pretty amazing!!! It was a pretty long ride and lots of theming going on! I guess I’ll be spending the rest of my day finding more out about Rainbow’s End. Thank you for sharing!!!
Glad you enjoyed! I have a few more videos of Rainbow's End available on my channel if you're interested :) Sure is a nice little park
I agree with Jenny Nicholson's comment, I also have never seen a ride like this before. LOVED it also. Barrie, Ontario Canada.
I'm glad you enjoyed a ride on this classic Kiwi attraction! Hello to Canada!
wow, this went on forever! i love it
Some may not know but king gizzard based a album off this very ride
No big splash at the end of the final drop! Pretty cool ride, though, with all the eccentric theming.
I think they turn down the splash in Winter (when this was filmed). It's a fun quirky ride!
I love the water Fall at the beginning.😊
Very pretty!
This ride is so cool! It’s like a Adventure went on this 10 times with my sister it was so funny
It's a great ride!
did you also go on the mine ride next to it .. used to scare me that one lol even as an adult
Nothing screams "this ride is safe" like the use of comic sans on the warning boards before the first hill.
Some aspects do feel like they're from the late 80's still - that's a fun example!
3:30 - No one's going to talk about Javier Bardem's character just shows up here?
oh wow, never noticed that!
It's a very nice, casual, and relaxing ride.. until the drop at the end!! (even though it is not that bad of a drop!!)
Going to rainbows end for the 3rd time tomorrow, so I am revisiting all of the rides the day prior!❣
hope you had fun! it's a nice little park :D
@@ThemeParkOgreI did, thank you! ❤
Aye! Beware all ye who enter here! There be inconsistent ride theming in these waters!
I went on this ride just today and it was definitely one of my favourites!
Hope you had fun!
I love the enchanted Forest
Wow! Way cool! Thanks for posting!
It's an honour to have Chuck's cousin here! Glad you enjoyed :D
@@ThemeParkOgre Hahahaha! Thanks! Chuck always gets the attention for some reason, so I appreciate that!
Finally, a log ride properly designed so that the riders don't get all wet at the end!
This was filmed in Winter so they turned the effects down!
Thank you I love it
The theming is all over and I love it. Blackbeard, pixies, and forests. What more do you need in life?
The quirkiness definitely adds to the charm!
It is definitely the most elaborate flume I have ever seen. It is also one of the longest flume rides. Best is subjective. If you like big drops this only has one while most have two or three. Thanks for filming it, probably will never get to ride this one.
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed! "Best" was referring to it being a great ride that most people wouldn't have heard of, not it being the best Flume Ride bar none. Though as you said, it's subjective.
Dark ride section:
*hits*
Enchanted Forest Flume:
*aight I now identify as Splash Mountain*
The ever changing ride! (it's apparently much different even now to when I filmed this POV haha)
Rainbows End log flume is a fever dream
Certainly an experience!
This is my second favourite ride at rainbows end. I also heard that it just got a remake, so my brother and I will be going back. Also, there's some weird sound that plays in the forest near the end, that always makes us laugh. XD
Sure is a great ride. I haven't ridden it since the update but the changes look pretty good!
went on this in Jan. Absolutely loved it, the themes were great and it is a very relaxing ride
It sure is relaxing!
Wow, what a long ride. I want to hang out at the little house in the enchanted forest.
That would be cozy!
All these warnings in the beginning parts of the ride do be getting me hella anxious lol
I'd love to go on this ride someday soon. It seems like so much fun. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Thank you very much for watching! I hope you get to ride it someday :D
FELL ASLEEP.
The water looks like natural lake water.😊
It does!
Looks great! My favourite log flume ride is Chiapas, Phantasialand, in Germany, this ride is soooo good
Chiapas looks amazing! I'd love to ride that some day :)
Seems like a pleasant relaxing experience
Sure was!
This is the 2nd log video I saw with characters. It must be something new.
That was a cool log flum .
I'm enjoying that love it.
I went tripping at Rainbows end with a couple of friends back in the ‘95 when we were about 16. The log flume was my definitely favourite with the creepy creatures. It was out the gate 😂
haha I can imagine that would have been an *interesting* experience
I've been going all my life, I'm 13 and almost every birthday is Rainbows End. I've noticed the belts have been replaced with more modern equipment. And the invader is gone for repairs. But it's still cool.
yep plus now they closed and took away the pirate ship ride lol wonder if that ship in the water of log flume is part of that ship looks similar one
I was wondering the same thing about the Pirate Ship!
Haha👍
@@rachaelk7866,nah mate. That ship front was placed in there long before the Pirate Ship closed.
@@harryrabbitts2085 Oh ok thanks Im from hamilton but havent been to rainbows end in over 10 yrs+ :( what did they replace the pirate ship ride with ? anything ?
Dont understand the unlikes. Made with Love! In Germany we have only one park where they made similar magic in the rides for visitors
Some of the theme parks you have in Germany look amazing. I'd love to visit someday!
Looks fun. I love the wild theming.
It's a fun ride for such a small park!
It looks like it's been lovingly made from the bits left over after Theme Park Theming 4 U went bust. Fortunately, there was also a customer return still out the back by the crusher - a faulty final drop!
For a small theme park they did a great job with what they had
@@ThemeParkOgre as I said, lovingly made
@@ThemeParkOgre not every comment requires you to reply
Looks like a fun ride! :)
Sure was!
One of the longest Flumes Ive seen.
Has a good length for sure!
Wow nice ride
This was cute! It seems like a pirates of the Caribbean-splash mountain-jungle cruise amalgamation. I didn’t understand why it was called enchanted forest until I saw the dark ride part though lol
I like it! I’d ride it (probably several times)
hehe yeah, it is like a mix of all those rides! Hope you get it on someday :D
Really good man enjoyed
Glad you enjoyed!
This ride tried to tell a story about pirates and pixies, but got drunk half way through.
The title is 100% accurate 😅I hate getting wet but I'm a sucker for theming; would have to give this one a go if we are ever lucky enough to travel internationally again.
Let's hope things get back to normal sooner than later! The park is worth checking out for sure if you visit New Zealand.
BEST ever? Ya me thinks if I rode this alone I would cry.
It meant the best one you (probably) haven't ridden, not the best one ever
Cool!
Very good theming over all really solid ride experience
They did a great job for such a small park!
What are those tracks for you see in certain parts of the ride?
That's part of the Gold Rush Coaster. :) I have a video of it here: ua-cam.com/video/7tA9DnHHS6w/v-deo.html
4:47 is that Rudolf? Pirates of the Caribbean got nothin’ on this ride 😂
really nice painting skills
Still haven’t seen one that beats Knott’s Berry Farms. That’s the one I use as the Gold Standard of Log Rides.
The Knotts one looks impressive for sure
This somehow fits in Splash Mountain, 7 Dwarfs Mine Train, and Pirates Of The Caribbean all in one ride!
That's a good way of putting it!
What a fever dream
3:00 bloke on the left watching flips the bird lol
That was my friend being a bit cheeky! haha
@@ThemeParkOgre go figure LMAO and i liked subbed belled :D
@@RichyJFilms thank you! :D
Gonna try to create this in planet coaster. Almost seems like a ride from it with the various themes and props
I'd love to see that! Be sure to let me know if you get it done :D
I will agree they did a great job for what they had. I wouldn't say this is the best log flume ride. I had no clue what was going on lol.
I never said it was the best - the title was referring it to be a great ride that most people wouldn't have heard of. It's a very confusing ride for sure!
I think the ride looks great really nice theming👍
If you're ever in Florida I suggest you try Dudley Do Rights Rip-Saw Falls at Universal Studios Island Adventure! (my personal favorite flume ride😁)
I'd love to give it a try someday!
The theme made zero sense but I loved every moment of it.
I love the ride but the drop at the end feels like my face gonna fall off lol
It gave me a fright bit it was so fun couldn't stop doing it.
Can confirm, I no longer have a face.
Yup that may be the best log flume I've seen.
Am a park goer but New Zealand is a tad far, maybe for the bucket list lol
Worth visiting some day for sure!
Y’all complain, but this is the best we’ve got for NZ and I think they’ve done good. Comparing our small theme park rides to American ones is just unfair 💀
The bagged cereal version of Splash Mountain.
Weird enough that I like it...
Just need some more sound and music for sure...the whole part with the pixie village SHOULD have had pixies talking , music etc.
looks great I Live in nz but havent been for years they changed the theme ... used to be like miners / dwarves in it and towards the middle all the baddies like evil witches etc :D
I never knew that it had a different theme! That's pretty cool. I hope a video surfaces of it one day.

I have had dreams about this ride... but I've never been on it. Today is the first time I have viewed this video...
How close were your dreams to it?
@@ThemeParkOgre The mountain hub for the darkride elements, the pirate motif, the semi final drop. Its as if the scattered elements from my dream have taken final form. That or it highly reminds me of my dream and it is filling in gaps.
What's that at 2.12? Chain slap on Goldrush?
I think so!
yup thats part of gold rush I think
I love Log Flume Rides at amusement parks. I guess that I am spoiled by the parks in Southern California. Come check them out when you can. Don't buy into the Disney hype though. In reality, as far as Log Flumes go, Disney's Splash Mountain is 3rd behind #2 Knott's Timber Mountain Log Flume and #1 Six Flags Magic Mountain's Log Jammer. Each has two drops as well. The first wo are themed but Log Jammer is just tall and very fast. Check each of them out on UA-cam.
Log Rides are great fun! It's a shame less and less parks are investing in them nowadays.
I think its great i wish they left that waterfall on when you went under it though.this is a great ride all in all thanks for posting.xoxomarianne
That would be great on a super hot day!
@@ThemeParkOgre for sure i did not expect them to turn it off when i first watched lol.it still looks soo fun🙂
@@mjyg3058 I think its because it would cause more fright then thrill, not only would you get absolutely soaked beyond where its acceptable for a flume ride but turning it off seems to be a better option, saves water, you do still get the few icy cold drips from the waterfall that trickle down your shirt
@@explode5583 i see good point🙂
I thought this was gonna be about the log flume from Enchanted Forest in OREGON!
Distint cousin!
Why is there so much criticism every time I ride it I always love it and who cares if the theming is a bit whack it seriously feels so magical and fun I rode it 5 times Last time I went
The best flume ride IN THE WORLD IS Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls at Islands of Adventures, Orlando, Florida..... kind regards !!!!!
Looks like a great Flume, especially off-ride. The drops with all the water coming down looks spectacular.
Did I just see Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer at the start of the Enchanted Forest?!
