11:30 Hey Eric, the reason why Yuka is so good at skinnies is that she keeps momentum even at a tricky situation - 11:42 - speeds up right away, rides at higher speed overall and because she is sitting, she keeps lower centre of gravity on top of being a short lady. But most importantly her head in this position is more upright, so she looks further automatically. And looking far is the secret! You by standing up and looking right in front of Your front wheel, are using the secret of "snake tailing". And You're riding at trials speed, but have not much trials skills.
There is this half pipe rainwater drainage in my Town, covered with metal mesh covers. Covers are like 2x tire width. I can comfortably ride straight on top of them when I look far. When I look at the wheel distance - gameover - snake tailing, even though there is no danger as the pipe is built in the paddock and covered flat. Hope You read this

JD Park was my first MTB trail system in FL; my wife and I went there 2 years ago and got hooked with MTB. We didn't know that our lives were in danger, because we did JD Park with Walmart bikes, 😨 since then we bought entry level HT and ride every time could. This spring we have scheduled to ride in NC. Thanks Eric and Yuka for showing that FL has good MTB without elevation 😂🤘😎

Great trail recap, and always quality stuff from your channel! Note to self....do not challenge Yuka to a skinny riding contest if you guys ever visit the Bentonville area! Brian...only because I spend so much time watching UA-cam videos, and constantly learning to jump better after learning it ABSOLUTELY incorrectly, I can see one thing that I'm confident you can do to improve immediately. Make your pop MUCH later on the face of the jumps, and make it a dynamic faster move, so it's a quick push down into the suspension, allowing the rebound to push you up into the air to gain some height. You're doing what I used to do...going into it low and compressing the suspension when you first start up the face. A LOT of instruction leads you to believe that's what they do, but if you watch closely, they get low....but then they also have a "pop" off the lip where they utilize the suspension to push them into the air. It feels weird at first, but once you learn that move, you'll be more stable and be able to clear everything without always feeling like you've got to go faster than it seems like you should have to for how the trails are built. I was SO FRUSTRATED riding behind riders that cleared everything, going the same speed as me, and I FINALLY seeked out a great jumper, and with on-site video help and repetition...I learned what I was doing wrong, and through paintstaking re-learning, I got on the right track. My boiling point was a ride with Lance Canfield. We were on some local trails that I had ridden forever, and never cleared anything. I was convinced it was just built for only the fastest riders to clear the features. Well...off we go, and I'm behind Lance, who is behind some other guys up front, and we're going CRUISER speed. He's clearing everything WITH ease, even at that speed, and I was just rolling everything behind him at that speed...not even trying to clear anything, because I knew better. My normal tail cases would have been nose cases! But there he was....whipping them, tables, you name it...gloriously, like it was nothing. OK...THAT'S THE FINAL STRAW!
A good place to learn it is on a small double that requires moderate speed where you have to force yourself to "pop" off the lip, but with very little consequence if you case it. Hit it at a speed you can clear it with just "riding" off of it, but then start slowing down, and "popping" off the lip. Keep making runs with the objective of going slower and slower, and still clearing it with a quick compression of the suspension right as you're leaving the lip, very similar to an English bunny hop, but just allowing the suspension to do the work. As you get better at it, you'll actually start to feel the ability to do the front and rear ever so slightly at different times, and get even more lift, almost like an American Bunny hop. Start low, elbows bent, and then at the lip compress slightly and raise up slightly on the rebound, without absorbing the compression with your legs. From there...it's just a matter of waiting longer and longer until you really get it timed with the take off. Use a phone camera to watch it back, and I'll guarantee you that at first you'll see that you compress and then LOSE that compression well before you need it at the lip. Then you'll watch it back, and time it a little later, but still only about halfway up the lip. Then eventually, despite it feeling odd, you'll get the feeling I did where the bike springs off the lip...and it's an "aha!" moment. Then seek out some jumps with longer faces, and work on timing it right at the last possible second. See if that doesn't help man. What I found was, by putting myself in a position to have to clear something, I instinctively started doing the moves required to get maximum height, once I understood the dynamics of the movement, and that it's not a sloooooow move like some the instuctional videos seem to suggest. Yes....you compress into the face, because you have to, but it's the further compression and rebound at the lip that gives you the "pop." Just trying to share some hard earned experience from another guy wanting to be a better jumper!

I turn 40 this month and sadly I’m disabled. My life over the last decade hasn’t been good. Before fall hit I started riding again. It’s only on flat ground and sometimes I have to use my recumbent trike. But this year will have all sorts off big changes. Starting with yoga and balance training until I can take it back outside. I hope to one day ride trails and pump tracks seem very intriguing so I hope I can get that far. Currently I’m only able to ride for about 5mi. Sometimes less. Watching you two makes me hope my wife stays with it with me. Right now she’s all I have.

If you want a damn good ride, go to Graham Swamp! It is in north florida. This place will blow your mind.
3 miles from there is another area called Mala Compra! It is similar to Carter road as you are going around a swamp, etc. then after the ride, in the parking lot you will find one of the best BBQ spots in the state. If you read this, let me know and I will put you in contact with the trail builders. I am in Spain, but they are who you want to ride with.

I think the secret to Yuka's success is her mental strength. We already have seen that in jumps and drops where she just says "ok I'm gonna do it" and then she just does it. I'm a similar way. Once I scout out a feature and say I'm going for it, I'm hitting it in the next 2 runups to the feature. And that's even a thing for skinnies. If you have it in your head that you are going to succeed, you are more likely to do so

If you are still exploring try the trails at the Markham park facility, it'll blow your minds. It's over near the 595 & i75 intersection. Then the Quiet Waters park location over near Sample Rd & US1, very flat but good for a great rip through similar terrain as the JD State park.
    Have fun and be safe.
