  • I am not an audio professional, but I'm willing to take on a task and save some money in the process. Why pay someone to do something that you can do yourself? This was my first time attempting to do a job like this and I gained a lot of knowledge while going through the process. If you're considering installing speakers in your X or similar Nissan vehicle I hope this video helps. Any questions, concerns, or general comments, please leave them below. Thanks for watching!

    I have the 2005 Frontier Nismo, comes with “Rockford Fosgate Sound System” but I pull them out and just the amp/subs are Fosgate and the speakers are Clarion. Wasn’t expecting that. Sounds okay for stock, got 2K in audio gear im in the process of installing 🤘

      $2k in sound upgrades should make that an amazing cabin to be in. Mine sounds pretty good with an aftermarket head unit and the fosgate speakers, but sounds like you’ll be adding even more. Very nice!

    It really irritates me when a vendor says something is designed for your application and then you find out that it doesn't. I would've sent the speakers back.

      True. It seemed very straightforward, but obviously some modifications were needed. Overall it wasn’t too bad. I took it as another learning opportunity.

      Thanks! Unfortunately, no. It's pretty basic, but these new speakers have made a huge improvement in sound quality.

    Did you hook up the little speaker on the back right passenger door? My 07 has one but it is not hooked up, was hoping that was included on your video but wasnt

    • @TheNonnell

      My X is very basic. It only has one speaker in each door and two tweeters(I’m assuming) on the dash. The crutchfield website asked me if I had that speaker you’re talking about(which I do not). I guess if yours came with it then they would give options specifically for that. Hope that helps.

    Do you have a stock head unit? If you do, the stock radio unit only puts out so many watts, you’re missing out on massive difference in quality via underpowered speakers. I think the stock radio puts out like 5 watts rms to each speaker, while those fosgate speakers you put in probably could handle 50+ rms watts easily.. to make my long post even longer, find yourself a cheap system that puts out over (I want to say 30watts rms total output), so something like a cheap Walmart boss or whatever brand will put out usually 100rms to the system which in turn means louder, deeper, clearer, better sounding audio..

      I found that out after getting some nice infinity speakers out of a wrecked newer xterra via junkyard.. speakers were maybe a year or two old, swapped out the stock speakers, put new ones in, Better quality for sure but still no bass or real ummph behind it.

      Hey! Thanks for the suggestion. I actually installed a Kenwood head unit before I did speakers. There was only so much sound the factory speakers could give so that’s why I upgraded to the RF. It’s been a dramatic improvement. Currently, I’m thinking about changing my head unit again for one that can do Apple car play.

      @@TheNonnell I just installed a Pioneer AVH-220EX in my 2002 Mustang and it does Apple car play and Android auto. The AVH-220EX fits a 2014 Xterra (according to Crutchfield) and I suspect it'll work in the 2007. It's not 100% Android Auto compatible though. A website for Android Auto gives a list of compatible head units. I don't know about Apple Play. I'm getting the parts in today for mirroring an Android phone using the AV IN port - but with a different phone adapter it'll work with an Apple. There's a fair amount of cabling involved for doing the mirroring though. Part of the cabling converts between HDMI to RCA AV jacks to a 1/8" AV plug (if you don't have RCA AV input jacks). And you'll need a 5 VDC source for "recharging" the phone during mirroring. There are youtube videos explaining how to do it but I'm doing mine that's slightly different. Connecting to the head unit wirelessly is possible also. But I've heard that the AV quality isn't as good if doing it wirelessly.

      @@genericdude6551 Thanks! I'll look into that. I've been searching for a while. Just haven't pulled the trigger yet. Also, sounds like since I have an Iphone that unit would be more compatible than with an Android.

    • @TheNonnell
      @TheNonnell  3 роки тому +1

      Yes. I have them, but none of those were plug and play. They all said they would need some modifications or construction of brackets. So, I decided that I didn’t want to deal with that at the time. Funny I know as I had to modify the door speakers to fit.

      @@TheNonnell The same goes for my 2002 Mustang tweeters. For some reason one has to fabricate a mount for the tweeters. I wonder if this is a common issue for most cars.

    • @TheNonnell
      @TheNonnell  3 роки тому

      I’m not sure, but the few cars I’ve done speakers on with tweeters, crutchfield said fabrication would be needed.

      @@TheNonnell I did fabricate mounts for the tweeters in both the Mustang and the Xterra. I created a video showing what I did for the Xterra. For the Mustang, I used the original tweeter as a template to create a new mount and used a hand jigsaw (not a professional look but no one else will see it) to cut plexiglass and holesaw to cut the hole for the tweeter - professionals used a laser to create/cut the mount for the Mustang. The new tweeters for both cars came with an inline capacitor as a cheap passive crossover.
