Instead of zip ties for bag release use paracord. You can get it in nice colors and it won't scratch your frame. You can also dress it up a bit with a lovely diamond knot.
Thanks Mark. Yeah January was a bit of a let down. Still went out but not as enjoyable on ice and snow! Hopefully it’s going to get a bit better now and Spring won’t be far away!
That’s good to know. These are great at the moment but it’s worth noting for anyone else thinking of getting them. Thanks for letting me know about that one though! 👍😀
Yeah the luggage release strap is really useful, especially if you have a big bag. Plus I think it looks nice on it as well. The extenders are good from what I have heard. Definitely helps with the wobbling if you don’t have the rack version! 😂👍
The larger Roller Wheels are a +, but the Extender Bar adds greater stability (even with the rack) and a bit more height, ++. The Front Carry Block "loop" from a cable tie, excelant idea, for vertually no extra cost or weight. Thanks for the vlogs Take care
Sounds like the extender bar would be better stability wise especially without the rack so nice idea 👍 Seen the cable tie a few times and it’s great. Been using it a few weeks now and that’s why we decided to get a leather one as found it really useful. Glad you enjoyed it!
Not had much worry about the weight concerns but think if it is carried a lot that will make a huge difference. Makes sense to keep the weight down on a lightweight model 👍
The 2 O-rings are supposed to sit under the pentaclip, not on the wider part of the seatpost, so that when the seat is lowered to lock the fold, the bottom of the pentaclip doesn’t mark and/or score the top of the seat tube. I’ve been using Swissstop Flash Pro BXP Blue cartridge pads, they give a much better performance and are a hard-wearing brake pad than the fibrax originals. I run Ergon GP1-L grips which protect the ulnar nerve in the heel of your hands and prevent sore wrists.
Thanks. I have the extended seat post so it physically cant meant the top of the seat tube, but I can see what you mean and how that would be issue with the normal seat post. 👍 I prefer it this way as the pentaclip is hidden more and think it looks a bit tidier. Not changed the grips at the moment. To be fair not had any issues with the foam grips and I actually think they are alright although I know quite a few people don't like them. Heard the ergon ones are pretty good though so when I need to change them will have a look at the ones you have suggested 👍
I wish Brompton’s rear and front wheels had quick release. It just makes sense. If you get a puncture on the road and you want to repair it on the road quickly, I don’t want the hassle of using a spanner to loosen the bolt to take the wheels off the bike.
I think the original seat is better for women, rather than the angular Brooks upgrade model. However, I love the luggage release hack. That is brilliant.
Hi Mari. You are probably right on the saddle for women. It's difficult because everyone is different but obviously to find one that works and stick to it. Glad you found the luggage release hack useful. Definitely good if you have the bigger bags on the front.
Although unnecessary I too would have swaped over the brake shoes. Defiantly look better. The Eazy Wheels are a big improvement. Combined with a Roller Extender Bar £10, is an even better upgrade. Stops the tipping and makes it easier for shopping & tube travel trundling, Might fit the Zip Ties to the Carry Block. Great idea at min cost and weight. Would make my own hub cleaners. With a Sumner and Winter/Cargo B & contemplating an electric the Brooks C17 would at x3 be an expensive indulgence. Although very desirable. For frame protection Tape. Vegi, so no leather fram sleaves. And what if it rains. Enjoying your vlogs, thanks for sharing. Take care
Glad you found it useful. The zip ties are really good especially if you have the bigger bags. Totally understand about the leather. To be honest not had an issue in the rain and ridden it a few times in heavy rain.
Thanks John. Glad you found it useful. The release strap is nice and makes it a bit easier with a larger bag on the front. Found it really useful personally. 👍
Should have used a hubshine on the cable tie hack for a nice result. (as you will have to cover the cable ties with something soft cloth like to stop rub on the frame anyway) Could look really nice
@@CycleEveryday the design maximises airflow to reduce brake fade under hard use. The pads use 2 compounds to ensure a wider temperature performance band. They're roughly 80mm long giving huge stopping areas on each pad and from experience they'll survive a 40-0mph deceleration downhill, something no other rim brake has managed in my years doing stupid stuff. Where safety is concerned I always look toward Downhill MTB and BMX.
A really useful video. Thanks. When I bought my new Brompton M6R four years ago I asked for it to be fitted with Eazy wheels. I'd had previously fitted Eazy wheels myself to my old P6R.The shop told me that Brompton no longer supplied Eazy Wheels because the standard Brompton wheels were now much bigger. Standard wheels were bigger yes, but not big enough. I'm glad that Brompton now supply them again.
Yeah the eazy wheels are definitely worth getting. They roll so much easier as well. Found them very useful the past few months and would definitely get them again.
The padded pedal pouch is interesting! I did think about the frame protector that went all the way but ended up on this one. At least its useful for some extra protection though! 👍
@@CycleEveryday In the end I replaced my long leather protection, with Velcro, with a shorter, sown on version (As an old "sailor" I'm used to work with sails and it was fun to use my old and forgotten skills for something useful, which I think looks better and my padded "pedal-pouch" for Brompton was bought from a - Thai firm, and very expensive, but it does really function, with a line securing it stays on the pedal during transport.
Thanks Julia. The quad lock looks good and glad you find it useful. Might look into getting one eventually, but don't really use my phone enough on the bike to justify it at the moment. 😀👍
Hi, really informative and cool video thanks. With the years you have been riding a Brompton, what are the best puncture resistant tyres you have used, and have you had an issue with punctures? Thanks for your time and patience in answering.
Hi Daniel, yes I have found that the Schwalbe tyres are good. Marathon Plus or racers. Generally get about 3 punctures a year and travel on average 7.5k km so pretty good 👍
Excellent tips, thank you. I think those easy wheels will be a feature on our Bromptons shortly after they arrive. They're slated for production this week, so crossing my fingers that they will be here in the very near future.
The frame. Because that’s where I got the most damage. Do get a bit on the stem, but was more worried about the bit on the frame where the cables rub, plus you can move it down to protect on the pedal when folded as well so does two jobs 👍
thanks for the tips just ordered leather protectors and hub cleaners from Jim for my Brompton only had it a week same colour as yours but been very busy work wise to get out on it need to practice a little on the 6 speed combination changes before I go on train up to london to the office but looking forward to it. Thanks Terry! Glad that you have got it now. Sounds like it is a nice one. Great that you got all of the bags with it as well and the other saddle. At least you can swap and change if you find it a bit less comfortable. Sounds like you are good to go with all the extra bits as well. I sure you will love it once you get chance to use it!

Did you find the Brooks C17 confortable? I had the C17 carved and had to replace it for something cheaper as it was pushing some bone or joint and I could not take it longer.
Yeah I find it comfortable for everyday use, but everyone is different. I still use the standard Brompton saddle on my other Brompton when I use that one as well and find them both fine 👍
I don’t have a kick stand, although you can get them for the Brompton. I normally just fold the back wheel under, but if you have a rack with things on it doesn’t work as well. Alternatively i rest it against a wall or likewise, but if I had a rack I might think about getting one. Got one on our electric bike and very useful 👍
@@TM-vg4mx I don't know any specific one. Personally I would have a look at a few and see the feedback on them online as not had one on the Brompton before. Think the key thing is it needs to be able to fold up and not interfere with the folding so worth doing some research I think.

The only thing I have found helps is having the handle bars down. I have the m-bars though so think they are closer to the ground when folded. That added a bit of stability. I changed to larger wheels on my non-rack model and also fitted and EZ wheel extender which makes the bike much more stable and looks good.....
Hi Laurie. That sounds good. Seen a Brompton with thicker wheels before which they used for off-road and worked well
The odd time I go to a supermarket with my Brompton, I fold it up and stick it in a trolley 😊
